looking on the bright side, people who doesnt read the manga may assume sakura is connected to a lot of people

on the negative side, this designer is a first timer and have no idea what he's doing.

Sakura connected to a lot of people. Like her team, team 10, Sanin, chiyo & sasori are good examples.

^ yeah, and gaara too. i read this tumblr post by morgaine4 recently, very interesting.

but you know what i mean. not random rookies like neji, unless you count neji-zetsu -.- shikamaru is only a recent example in the war arc imo. and hinata with sakura.. lol. they talked to each other like 2  times (pain arc, vs tobi)

Maybe someone wants to imply that Hinata is Sakura's new rival of love interest...

Or that Hinata gived Sakura some impulse to do something.

Sakura didn't look very amused when she discovered Hinata's feelings to Naruto.

 

Wanting or not, I can see some revelance of Hinata in Sakura's life...

I suppose so, but it still seems like a bit of a stretch for me. I don't particularly feel the manga implies any kind of rivalry between the two. I would prefer that the backgrounds of this calendar to show more relevance to each character, it seems in many ways overstuffed with things that are really kind of random.

Could be possible however it's not the type of rivalry that involves competition or whatever.
In a way the pain arc depeding on the interpretation Sakura could have jealous of the fact Hinata  loved Naruto.

But it's something that is a mere speculation and never showed on the manga, but it's interesting that everytime she see Hinata doing something to Naruto that leaves an impact she shortly after do something more impactfull.

I don't really understand why there's so much stuff crammed in there with teams 8 and 10 and team Gai too and only one that I can see showing the original team 7 together.  It's like they picked this stuff totally at random it just looks way too cluttered.

Wow. I would go so far as to say it's not a Sakura page but a Rookie page, and Sakura just got the prime placement. It's just a collage of scenes, not something that pulls from her storyline or makes a statement about her hopes and dreams. Naruto's only on there three times (that I can see) and one of those is just in profile. (The other two are of him in part one, as a kid.)

 

Sai and Lee have some relatively prominent placement. No Sasuke at all. No Tsunade. Lots of Sakura making weird faces. 

 

The big three of Sakura are nice, but the rest of it is just a salad of disconnected images. Sakura + Rookies. 

 

Again, it's a calendar, so no big whoop. But if you like Sakura, then this page makes no sense at all.

That front picture of Sakura with the Shinobi headband makes me wonder if everyone is going keep those after the war?

The only possible explanation for this random assortment of side characters is that the designers were trying to portray Sakura's interconnected role and proximity with the Rookies throughout the war (it still doesn't explain the panels from Part 1). In one of the colour spreads earlier during the war, she was placed amongst the K11. Up until #628 she didn't really do anything to make herself stand out from those people. She stood in formation with them against Zabuza, acted as a medic healing soldiers for the greater half of later battles, and then marched to reinforce Naruto with the Alliance forces.

 

Even when you try to rationalise it, the fact that the designers felt it important to impose that Rookies receive such prominent depictions on a calendar intended to be dedicated to Sakura leaves a bad taste in your mouth. It's disgusting.

Wow... Should have known that Sakura's page would turn out like this. The Rookies are important to the story, but not necessarily to  Sakura herself. The scenes chosen are really random... Barely any Naruto on there, too...

They've also interacted during the war, and every single time they interacted Kishi wrote it as if Hinata was subordinate to Sakura.

• Against Tobi Sakura reprimanded Hinata for losing focus.
• After healing her and realizing how far Hinata would go for Naruto, Sakura reprimanded her for acting rashly.
• During the war, Sakura directed Hinata to use her Byakugan so that the Shinobi Alliance could know what/how Naruto and Sasuke were doing against Obito.

Can't think of anything else, but I love that Kishi places Sakura in a position of power over Hinata despite the fact that Hinata could  have had so much handed to her (had she worked a bit harder) and that Sakura had to work for every little thing she's achieved.

Sakura has so many connections that are subtly placed in the manga and are easily ignored.  And of course there are several relationships that should have been expanded upon that were (IMO) just ignored by Kishi.  Like, Sakura and Shizune's could have been given greater focus.  Their connection is so similar to Naruto and Nagato's connection, and they actually like each other and Shizune actually helped train Sakura...but there's so very little in the manga.  *sigh*  Still, Kishi does tend to use Sakura to showcase female relationships, Sakura and Ino, Sakura and Tsunade, Sakura and Chiyo, Sakura and Karin.  It's a shame that we never saw Sakura training in genjutsu, Kurenai might have been given a bit more story had that happened. (heck, while talking to Paptala recently I realized that in many ways the battle between Sasori and Sakura + Chiyo could also be seen as a battle between masculine and feminine energies)...

 

But I guess I should talk about the calendar.

 

So, we know that calendar features Naruto, Gaara, Sasuke, Kakashi, and Sakura...who is the other person?  Shikamaru?

I really hate the fact that it makes Sakura look like she's just a side character among the rookies. If there wasn't a picture oh her with Sasuke and Naruto, you wouldn't even know she's part of Team 7 and that she's close to Naruto (I say Naruto and not Sasuke because there was some pictures of Sakura in the Sasuke one, while there was no one in the Naruto one, so it's like they have no bond).

Also, I'm shocked Sasuke's not there. And it's a bad shock, he should be there. It's one of her most important bonds along with Naruto. 

This calendar is definitely biased when it comes to Sakura. It seems like they hate her but were forced to put her in a month so because they didn't want to do it, they make her month horrible by putting random pictures of the rookies to makes her look like a side character and faking she has no bond with the main character Naruto by not putting one picture of Sakura in the Naruto month. 

 

Also side note: All the rookies are present here except one... Guess who? lol Poor Shino, forgotten for the rest of his life!

they're right... It's only a stupid kittening calendar by Shueisha, just a random collage of pictures. Clues come from the manga, drawn by the author, not from an useless calendar
