The only thing about the Karin background is that it makes me wonder again about Sakura's. Could the pink hair mean she's a descendant of both Uzumaki and Senju, making her an ultimate healer? Anyway, the more other minor characters are fleshed out, the more it is glaringly apparent that Kishimoto is withholding Sakura's background info.

Lastly, desaix I've been up in your neck of the woods the last week or so: Just got back from seeing the cherry blossoms in DC and spent a few nights in Ashburn! smile.gif It was lovely!

I've always thought Sakura's parents or lineage would be very important. Just like how for 300+ chapters, we thought Naruto was just some orphan who was unfortunately chosen to be a jinchuriki, but his father turns out to be Yondaime. We have never been given any information on Sakura's family and I find that weird for a main character. We already saw Kiba, Shikamaru, Chouji and even Hinata's family.

I have a theory where Sakura's parents were very important in the shinobi world but they died so Sakura was adopted into a normal civilian family. That's why there was no need to show her parents because they're just extras. For Sakura to have enormous potential and ability, even said to be able to surpass Tsunade herself, I really think she came from a strong and significant family. But I may be wrong because these are just speculations so I try not to think too much about it and just wait for Kishi to continue his story.

Also, now that it has been revealed that Karin is an Uzumaki, I wonder if we should be worried about NaruKarin becoming canon. ohboy.png Afterall, Naruto needs to restore his clan right? kruemelmonsteryn0.gif

Oh yes. Definitely. And besides, she does fit Kushina's criteria.

QUOTE (harry4e @ Mar 21 2012, 10:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Actually not at all surprising, Kushina did say her chakra was special amonst even the Uzumaki, I took it that meant Uzumaki's Chakra had large chakra levels and wasn't surprising if they had other special properties, Naruto himself has shown he has self healing abilities during the Chuunin exams even after Orichimaru sealed off access to the Kyuubi for him. Sasori and Gaara being part of Uzumaki clan isn't that fetched, there must have been a reason why they beleived Gaara would be able to hold the One Tails and Chiyo was not only a very skilled medic nin but also had enough skill as a Fuinjutsu specialist to seal the One Tails inside Gaara, Maybe that rivalry between Chiyo and Tsunade was part of them both holding the DNA of the Uzumaki clan. You also can't discredit how she was able to use her life force to save Sakura and also partially help Gaara, at her age it should be impossible to have enough life force to do so. Who knows Mei having Dual bloodline might also be down to her Uzumaki blood but her hair is not quite the same as other Uzumaki's so might not be the case, can't discount it either way.

I'd speculated in the past that Karin and Chiyo were members of the Uzumaki clan, not so much with Chiyo as she's already dead, And hey if Temari and Gaara are Uzumaki maybe that also explains th high Wind Affinity. I'll admit part of me now really wants Karin and Sasuke to get together at the end now, it would be hilarious if Naruto and Sasuke were related through marraige somehow...but damn it can you imagine how strong the child of Uzumaki and Uchiha would be? The Ying and the Yang of the Rikkuden in one body.

IMO, As Kushina said, her village was destroyed during one of the wars, so it had to have been around the Second war. At that time, the Uzumaki was scattered throughout the regions. So, it's likely that one of the Uzumaki eventually gave birth to the 4th Kazekage. Who later had Gaara as his son. So, in conclusion the Uzumaki gene in Gaara's family would likely be from their dad as both Gaara and Kankurou look very much like their dad. Kankurou might have likely been Shukaku's Jinchuuriki had his Uzumaki gene was stronger.

As for Mei, she's likely a full-blooded Uzumaki. Just a gut feeling.

QUOTE (harry4e @ Mar 22 2012, 11:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You know I just thought of something, you know how Kabuto mentioned that Juugo's power comes from Ryuchidou, which allowed him to absorb the force of Nature, and Karin has a abilty very similar to Naruto in Sage mode with the Chakra sensing abilty superior to everyone else...so maybe that's why Naruto mastered being Toad Sage mode so quickly, the Uzumaki clan like Yuugo's clan got their chakra sensing abilty from mount Myoubokuzan. I wonder if the third mentioned place Shikkotsurrin is the home of the Slug Sage? And if Tsunade ever mastered the Toad Sage ability, the slugs seem to be the least troublesome from the three so I expect them to be easier to persuade to let the contract holder train as a sage, would be nice to see Sakura hold the contract and gain the ability Kishi owes Sakura that at the very least for how he's treated her for the past few years.

I actually doubt that. If there is a Slug Sennin, I think he/she would be several centuries old. Like the Great Toad/White Snake Sage. This is my theory, the Slug Sennin is actually close to and deeply respects Saiken the Rokubi. I think the Sennin may have placed Saiken on a pedestal as high as Fukasaku and Shima.

The Bijuus were likely born at around the same time the three animal sages were born, so it wouldn't be surprising if Saiken and the Slug Sage knew each other.

I think the fact that Saiken was treated like a slave and sealed within humans angered the Slug Sage. The Sage doesn't mind his slugs making contracts with humans but he/she would never let them know the secrets of Sennin Jutsu.

I don't see it as Karin. shes been described as eccentric (databook 3) and she doesn't have the MK/NS parallels or some of direct Sakura/Kushina ones either.

Naruto is in love with the exact type woman like his mother anyhow. it would be pointless to change that.

Karin is just a sibling really.

leave it at that.

Karin's a bit too Alpha and a quite a schemer to boot- not qualities of either Kushina or Sakura. Sakura and Kushina just want to be positively acknowledged. They do public displays of affection with the guy they are attracted to, but while very affectionate it's of a soft giving style. Karin doesn't do PDA at all, but in private she's definitely out to be the dominant one. Sakura and Kushina will initiate, but they like the guy to literally sweep them off their feet. biggrin.gif

Yeah, I think I remember Kungfu Truffle saying that a while back: Kabuto could easily be the major villain because he had detailed notes on all parties, focusing on strengths/weaknesses; had medic-nin abilities to heal on par with Tsunade/Sakura; and had an unknown motive. He's a super-villain in the making.

My first thought on this chapter was that by Kabuto going to great pains to explain each of Team Taka/Hebi's skills, he was setting up events to come.

From here, Sasuke either has to turn to good (by Itachi's influence) or turn really, really bad. Well, if Kabuto has these powers morphed into him, and one of the snakes bites Sasuke, then isn't it possible that Sasuke could then be "infected" by all those powers. Making him supremely evil and powerful? And potentially Kabuto's puppet....

It could be that Kabuto's ultimate goal was capturing Sasuke, whereas Madara's goal was capturing Naruto. And if Sasuke's sharingan can control Naruto, then this would be the ultimate power struggle in the end. Those two men for ultimate control, and the the two boys fighting to regain self-control and possibly to help each other.

Agreed I remember on a interview with Kishi many years ago (I think it was during the Pain invasion arc). He was asked something about Madara being the ultimate villain of the manga and Kishi answered "that it still yet to be seen" which means that it wasn't certain that Madara is the ultimate villain. Seeing how much Kabuto has grown in strength in this chapter he's pretty much close of being the big villain of the story.

I think it's more likely it's a situation with the Haruno clan like with the Senju or Sarutobi clans where abilities skip generations. Perhaps historical clan abilities have been absent or very weak for a few generations- so the status of the clan dropped and her parents had no expectations of her being more than a standard Chunnin, if that. Thus her total lack of training before entering the Academy. Yet Kakashi knew of her clan's former power, so he classified her as the type her family historically was- genjutsu type. And his sole specialized training of her was in how to dispel a genjutsu. (He seems to have missed that she showed a significant natural immunity to Kabuto's sleep jutsu before she even dispelled it,though. But she seems to have received further training from Tsunade, as she was completely immune to Itachi's clone genjutsu, when even Kakashi started to go under again.

Yeah, it's been kind of odd he's been hiding Sakura's heritage to such a strong extent, while occasionally dropping hints about how special her abilities are- ie the inner self being unique to Sakura in manga canon, and wasn't just about suppressed feelings, but as we saw overtly during the Chunin exams has a powerful mental defensive role- once she used it that way, she easily drove Ino out of her head.

Me and a couple of guys talked about Naruto last night. Surprised me cause I thought I was the only one who liked Naruto. Honestly, their opinions think that if Sasuke turns "good" in anyway then the manga is a lost cause. They like Itachi, but feel that he needs to stay dead for once.

Weird thing is, they think Hinata is more useful than Sakura. I threw in my two cents saying that I find Sakura more helpful because at least she can hold herself in a fight. They said, well she is a medic, but she can't fight. I sarcastically said, in a nice way, "Right, cause Hinata really showed Pein a thing or two about messing with people." I just politely disagreed and said I find Sakura more helpful.

They also think Naruto is going to end up with Hinata, but I once again said "Sure, but I think Naruto has to like Hinata that way first." I tried not be a pro-NaruSaku rabid fan because I know how annoying it can be when you just want to have a discussion. They are not a fan of any pairing themselves, they just read the manga and enjoy. So their opinions are based on what they see or think.

That reminds me of a time I discussed Naruto with other people. Get this: they didn't even see NaruSaku as a possible pairing until I mentioned it.

my dad watches the show also, and he can absolutely careLESS about pairings XD

but when ever he sees sakura and naruto hes like " are they a couple yet, its taking forever....??"
and i'm like..."not yet dad.." XD

he doesnt notice the couples, he just assumes naruto will get with sakura cause he sees them together alot. he also doesnt notice hinata AT ALL. when hinata popped in to save naruto from pain, my dad couldnt remember who she was, and forgot her shortly afterwards XDD

though my dad is simple-minded......hes like a basic fan.

I'll give people advice: out of all of people I talked to about Naruto, there will be Sakura bashing and Hinata "Must get Naruto" discussion wherever you mention stuff about pairings. Besides myself, 2 or 3 other people I know whom loves Sakura to death. But the rest, they just talk about her like a dog because of Sakura's portrayal throughout the story.

But there are some reasonable people when we were talking about this week's chapter. You will have to thank Paradox for making the theory of Karin being an Uzumaki, which I was surprised and had that funny feeling the theory was believable and canon. But the whole Itachi/Sasuke fight with Kabuto: while its very interesting thanks to Kabuto's new abilities, I couldn't just read the whole chapter because Sasuke is once again present, trying to becoming a "good guy", helping with Itachi. I swear this fight better have Sasuke going down crazy mode as a bad guy for his fight with Naruto or this won't be tolerable in my eyes.

I've seen this fairly often in people who only watch the anime, don't read the manga. The anime really distorts things to make viewers think Hinata is far more significant than she is, and has vastly underplayed Sakura's actions since the end of the fight with Sasori. The most extreme of this was during the destruction of Konoha arc. They absolutely distorted that arc out of canon.... Underplaying and changing Sakura's one punch kill of the giant centipede summons into just stunning it and having the witnessing ninja acting blase rather than stunned by Sakura's instant kill of it. (then having it menace Shikamaru and Kurenai in a total filler scene) They turned Hinata's total nonfight with Pain into a battle and inserted a reaction of Naruto that wasn't in the manga. While at the same time they underplayed Sakura's calm leadership at this moment of great crisis...

AHAHA thats the best image ever.

It's remotely impossible for NaruHina to happen at this point. Seriously. I don't even feel like ranting and raving or giving reasons, because I feel that all the reasons are just obvious enough. The splash pages, the parallels, the moments that are un-needed but just are added for extra development, the way Naruto acts around Sakura, the way Sakura acts around Naruto, the small overlooked moments that are even more romantic then the bigger ones - like Sakura smiling at Naruto when he slept. It's just all there. What's NH got? Minor part 1 (Like, WAY WAY, part 1.) "dead silence" written over the panels of their short communication. Just to show how awkward it was. facepalm.png
I could go more... but... It would turn into bashing.
