I personally believe the rest of the chapter made up for that upset, but Sakura haters are always gonna be Sakura haters, nothing we say or do are gonna make them change sides. All we can do is fight through this tiny little set back

Why do you think it give them 'reason to bash'? Once again, in Japan, SasuSaku is the most popular hetero pairing. Beyond that, I don't understand why Sakura is being bashed for a few panels. It is Kishi who writes her that way in his idea of a 'realistic girl'. And, sometimes, he writes characters a certain way to make other characters look better.

Anyways, in the western fandom, Sakura has a lot of haters. They aren't going to go away, so you might as well get used to them. It doesn't make them more right so just ignore their hate. It's all up to personal interpretation anyways, since the story is ongoing and a lot is left purposefully vague for that reason.

What I meant was that Kishimoto should know that Sakura would be portrayed negatively if she was thinking of Sasuke and because she did some fans are Assuming that their first thoughts about her using Naruto's feelings and lying about loving him are correct, contradicting Kishimoto's claim of portraying her as an honest girl and that they should DESTROY her with bashing. I know its not like like that myself that but That how a lot would see it

Like Soupy said bashers will be bashers and they will continue to bash Sakura no matter what. Look other examples of manga there are still people who are bashing Akane from Ranma 1/2 even if it ended with her marrying Ranma they are still saying she doesn't deserve him. There are still people bashing Kagome from Inuyasha even if she married Inuyasha they are still saying that he belongs to Kikyo the tsundere will always be bash because the western audience don't like a strong will independent woman.

Yeah I'm aware of that for sure I'm just Questioning Kishimoto's intentions with that one just because He Wants her to be seen As a heroine but others won't view her that way I mean look at the ballistic chaos that occurred with 540's release. Well unless that makes her seem heroine like to him

I thought I'd bring this famous line up again. I think, to help explain a lot of people's frustation, we should focus on the second bolded part. Everyone here seems to be solely focused on the 'honest girl' line, and not really paying attention to the second part.
So she's an honest girl. That implies she wasn't completely lying during her confession. If she was, then calling her an honest girl wouldn't make sense. But the 'surprisingly stubborn' part is also important. During Part 1, Sakura was heavily infatuated with Sasuke. During her confession to Sasuke, it looks she fell in love with him (or at least believed she had fallen in love with him). Because of that, it shouldn't be a surprise that this 'surprisingly stubborn' girl has such a hard time getting over that initial infatuation.
So if we take that line and apply it to the confession, basically it implies that Sakura's not over Sasuke, but her feelings for Naruto are genuine. The 540 panel illustrates that Sakura is either a.) still telling herself she loves Sasuke, and it's causing her grief, or b.) has come to terms with loving Naruto, but still can't quite get over her feelings for Sasuke. Her negative feelings for Sasuke are overshadowing any positive feelings for Naruto, which is why she is focusing on him.

^ That's a pretty interesting take on it, and I think that it also rings true. It makes sense, given as you said, she still retains her feelings for him even after she can admit how much it hurts her.

And you know, Sakura has been largely written to mirror Naruto in a lot of ways. It was very evident in part I, but in this aspect I believe it is also the case. In the same way Naruto has been stubborn about his own impression of Sasuke, so has Sakura. Perhaps if either of them were to get over that, it would indicate that the completion of that plot-line was near. Since it has not happened yet, Kishi plans to continue it. That would mean, once again, the romantic subplot can't be completed without the main problem being solved as well. Hmm..

all we can do is wait :o can't do anything about those bashers until we have something to back us up. this panel wasnt that bad. everytime i think about it, i think about kushina and how minato and her worked out. in all honesty its either narusaku or nothing at all :3 cause we all know what naruto wants and we all know what sasuke doesnt want, but we dont know what sakura wants so its all leaning on her. remember what the last host before kushina said " you need to fill the fox with love" then it showed minato by kushina. my point ->naruto needs to fill himself up with lotsa love~ and sakura needs to be happy not hard to see the outcome :3

Keep the captive audience. Deepen the drama. For when NaruSaku happening that it will be something great and amazing (the ship was becoming too obvious)..

And things need to be more prolonged. Any shonen romance, only has his moment in the very end. Untill there, we need to be cool, and keep enjoying the story. One day we will have our reward.

That's not the main reason. The real reason KakaIru is so popular as a yaoi pairing because the two signifies the "Older/Younger" teacher relationship or more sempai and the japanese word that I totally forgot right now for the younger person. Ciardha has a very better detail about this situation, so ask her.
