I'm not talking about Choujiro- she's just mothering him, in a Alpha female type way. No, when I said she uses it as a weapon I was talking about her fight with Sasuke - of course Sasuke's not into women enough for it to have any effect, but man Jiraiya would have been falling all over himself! laugh.gif

Yeah, if he was still alive, I'm sure Tsunade would have had him accompany her to some of the Kage meetings. Even if they became "official", I doubt that that would stop Jiraiya flirting with other women just to push Tsunade's buttons. And Mei, being the cougar she is, would probably pounce on him to which Jiraiya might gladly accept at first but get creeped out a little later on. And Tsunade's killing intent would just start growing and intimidate even Gaara at a meeting. Plus, it would also be roll-on-the-floor hilarious if there were some sexual innuendos implied in the meetings. Hah, Raikage and Oonoki would just sweat drop (with Oonoki saying something "good god, you little rascals!!"" while Temari tries to keep her brother's "purity" intact.

(Oh! Another bit of support that I just remembered- The short one shot promo OVA that Studio Pierrot made and released earlier this year, that unlike most of Studio Pierrot stuff, Kishimoto actually was directly consulted for- only other project that they did that on was Shippuden movie 3- which practically screamed narusaku the whole way through- with a big emphasis on her feelings for Naruto. The OVA plays that out too even stronger- makes it clear Naruto has feelings for Sakura too, with his very charming and flirtatious smile at her and the face touch, but it's all over Sakura's love for Naruto. With the way Naruto and Sakura briefly interact in that OVA with the understated intimacy, it gives off the vibe of a couple that have already been together a while.)

Has there ever been an official statement about Kishi being involved in the Third movie and OVA?? Although I do understand that there's some incriminating evidence in those two.

QUOTE (tricksie @ Apr 25 2011, 09:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Right — and the same thing went on with Konan and Yahiko. There was the kissy scene, followed by her declaration of caring about him before he went off to fight, with her supporting his cause, of course. That whole storyline is gone through so quickly, with flashbacks, but I tend to think the same will happen with Naruto and Sakura. That there will be a mutual acknowledgement now (which we mave already had with her confession — they both know how the other one feels) and then there will be a lovely reunion when the main drama is over. And the bittersweet Konan storyline is that she proceeds with his dream out of love for Yahiko and partnership-love for Nagato. If Naruto were to die, you know this is exactly what Sakura would do, proceed with his dream and never truly love someone again. But I fully believe that Naruto will break that chain as well: he will survive, retrieve Sasuke from the darkness somehow, and return to have a full life with the girl he's always loved.

I'm gonna have to go back to reading them. But what I do like is how their love triangle was resolved. Nagato mainly had a childhood crush on Konan. Konan did as well. But later on, Nagato realized Yahiko loved her even more than he did and it also took Konan a while to accept it. To which Nagato also accepted.

A cougar is a woman who goes after younger men. Jiriaya is way older than her. She might try and flirt, but I seriously doubt that Ero-Sennin would just flip out. Might makes some light-hearted humor but that's it.

Hah, here's a prize winner that made my jaw drop: I read this comment by a rabid naruhina shipper on Narutofan's Telegrams a while back who even stated they thought Sakura was probably like Kishimoto's wife, and they hoped Kishimoto's marriage would become unhappy and he'd divorce her so Kishimoto would change the story and have Naruto end up with Hinata. rolleyes.gif

Sai basically said this to Sakura, as unbiased as I can make it :

- Sakura's purpose for coming to the summit wasn't to confess her love to Naruto, it was to tell him about the rookie's decision to kill Sasuke.
- Sakura gave up on Sasuke and confessed her love to Naruto to ease his burdens.
- Sakura didn't tell Naruto about the rookie's decision because she knew how much it would hurt him.
- Sakua was thinking of Naruto's feelings when she made her decision to do what she did at the summit.
- Sakura decided to kill Sasuke herself because she loves him and doesn't want to see him slide further into darkness.
- Sakura also decided to kill Sasuke herself in order to atone for saddling Naruto with the burden of the promise for so long.

Correct

QUOTE
- Sakura gave up on Sasuke and confessed her love to Naruto to ease his burdens.

Essentially correct I also believe her feelings to be genuine in intent at this instance due to her comments as to why she fell for him, but they get lost in translation to naruto because of the conflict regarding the rookies decision.

Soooo I just watched the official subs of this episode from VizMedia and Sai says the following according to that "official" translation: "By telling you she's given up on Sasuke and declaring her love for you, she was freeing you from the burden of that promise you made." *Naruto's flashback* "And still, you insisted on rescuing Sasuke. I believe that's why she couldn't tell you the truth. Because she was thinking of your feelings. In fact, she probably expected you to say that..... It's because she loves him so much that she can't bear to watch Sasuke turn more and more evil. It's because she love him so much that she wants to save Sasuke from this path of evil. Even if that means killing the one she loves with her own hands."

So take it as you will but the translation of that one line seems like the one directly from the manga.
Anime:
QUOTE

Manga (from Otaru's post):
QUOTE
Sai said :
サクラはサスケを諦め君が好きだと告白する事で
君との約束の重荷を解いた
それでも君はサスケを助けたいと言った

Sakura wa Sasuke wo akirame kimi ga suki da to kokuhaku suru koto de
kimi to no yakusoku no omoni wo toita
sore demo kimi wa sasuke wo tasuketai to itta

"Sakura has given up on Sasuke and confess her love to you in order to lessen your burden about the promise you made her.
Despite it, you still told her you want to save Sasuke."

Sooo take it as you will.

I don't know. I just watched the episode and the very little amount of sasusaku really didn't matter to me at all. And when I heard Sai's explanation, it was very honest. I honestly thought Sai just set it straight for everyone when he said Sakura declared her love for you. Because in Japanese and with his tone, it was very honest and quite straightforward. There was no hidden meaning or lying behind his words. Plus, the words declared is very strong choice that is used when one does not lie.

Yeah, I got that impression the first time I watched it. The dialogue wasn't too different, but it did seem a little more SS to me. I think the main point though, is that Sakura "loves" the Sasuke he "used" to be. It seems confusing, since she has a present tense feeling for a past tense person, but that's only way it really makes sense to me, I guess. Besides, Sai's conversation to Naruto sort of confirmed, at least to me, that Naruto's feelings were foremost in her mind, even before Sasuke. So she obviously has more love for Naruto than Sasuke, at least on some level.
Also, one of the downsides to having a soundtrack behind the events is that it sometimes stirs up emotions, making scenes more depressing or heartwarming. It annoyed me with this scene, but I thought the anime did a great job with Sai's earlier conversation with Sakura about Naruto's feelings, so I guess it balances out in my book.

They do that because animators think it's more important to drag out ships as long as possible- they think it draws in more viewers, and just don't see how it really turns some off because they are messing around with manga story canon. (they'll even totally make up ships for that reason- re most of the Shippuden movies, except for 3, the only one so far that Kishimoto was actually a script consulatant. Guess he hated 2 so much that he politely begged to be script consultant for 3. Note how heavily narusaku 3 is over the others, he was script consultant for that short one shot OVA released at the beginning of this year too- again, heavily narusaku, even moreso in fact, getting her actually fully in line with her feelings in manga canon.

Kishimoto showed a bit of his annoyance at the Jump Festa 2009. And they did better with Lost Tower, they didn't have Sarah start crushing on Naruto until near the end of the move, and Naruto stayed clearly just on friendship level to her- he talked her to no different than he would have talked to a guy.

They emphasized his bond with Minato far more, and had some narusaku in it, that emphasized Sakura's feelings for Naruto (and toned down the tsundere to nearly manga canon level, they still were overplaying it for laughs in movie 3- Will of Fire- but thanks to Kishimoto's script consulting it was strongly emphasized it's because she is in love with Naruto), rather than in movie 2 where the narusaku was undermined by having Sakura reacting way too tsundere (when she wakes up in Naruto's arms- we've seen several times in the manga, from the start of part 2, that Sakura likes being physically very close to Naruto- she even makes a point of this in her confession. An in character Sakura would have faintly smiled up at him and said thank you.) and Naruto being romantic with the uber Mary-Sue. (I've blessedly forgotten her name)

Hopefully in movie 5 they'll have plenty of narusaku and do it right. It's usually around this time that we start getting more details about the next movie- promo for the next movie when the one before is released on DVD....

Are you only guessing, or have you some infos about it ? I saw myself his message at the end of the third movie, but i've never been able to find a tangible info about it ! Where have you found it ? It's canon that he has been a script consultant ? I mean, it's quite obvious, if you think about the message at the end, but i would like sooo much to find and actual real info about it !

He's listed as script consultant for the third movie in the credits. Haven't seen the credits for the OVA, but at least one piece of the promotional material apparently mentioned that from what was said online- and considering it fits manga canon Sakura best of anything yet done by them I'd tend to take that at face value. (Considering what they can do when he doesn't act as a consultant...)

LOL, I haven't seen the movies, but I know what you guys are talking about. I've seen a few movies based on manga I liked and they were literally painful to watch.
It really is amazing what the animators would do to increase pairing drama. But I think it works, at least with the fans who haven't read a single chapter in the manga and that's a lot of them. On the other hand, it pisses other people off.

Yeah, people make a big deal about the little nuances of what they say, when really the physical contact speaks volumes. Those two, by far, have the most contact in the whole manga.
