"And ever since then I've liked my hair" <--- that came first. She probably meant later on after the rescue that she learned to like it, not immediately like that.
It was in a flashback...
She would have realized after the rescue that it was the same hair that she hated that, basically, allowed Minato to save her. And it was with that new admiration of her hair came the falling in love part. Not 10 seconds later.

10 seconds later or not, she fell in love with him in that short amount of time. Not only did the hair guide Minato to Kushina as you've pointed out, but it made her fall in love with him, since he was the very first person to compliment it. It was the hair that had so much emphasis on the romance aspect of that flashback. Why think anything else played a bigger role on Kushina falling for Minato other than her hair, since it was so blatantly the certain of the romance.
The hair brought them together, in a literal sense. If Minato had just randomly said one day that he liked Kushina's hair I don't think it would've had the same impact as it did in the rescue story.
As much stress that was put on her hair, I would have to disagree with you on your scenario.
You can put certain expectations in a story, but you shouldn't let your desires get out of hand.
My desires and expectations died down little by little due to the terrible writing for the romance subplot, and the overall writing in fact. What little I have left is simple logical scenarios that most likely won't happen due to the current standpoint of the romance in this manga.
If you expect too much from a tale you'll only be disappointed in the end.
Too late.
Kishi is just a guy like any other so he can make mistakes or have different ideas of what comprises good story telling.
Oh, I'm sure we all know that. And I don't mean that in a good way at all.
You can't expect the story to go exactly how you desire it to be, and it's more fun when things are unpredictable anyway.
Even when the unpredictable revelation turns out to not be in majority of the fandoms favor? Like Sakura still loving Sasuke? Like NH becoming canon? These expectations are derived from simple things. Like if a person tries to murder you three times you'd be done with them. But no. Kishi does the thing that you love by
being unpredictable in having Sakura still love him. Sorry, but I can't stomach that.
Ya rly
No rly.
It's because Minato looked like a splendid ninja that his words about Kushina's hair created that much of an impact.
Let's not forget the fact that after she made that comment about Minato, she follows up with "
more importantly." So no, it wasn't because Minato looked sexy at that particular time that made such an impact.
