Can we from now on ignore completely the NH fanbase? Their ship has been sunk down for good with this chapter, we know its not going to happen, they know it's not going to happen but its better to deny it and keep gasping at straws that it will happen. Kishi has NEVER intended to make NH canon since the so called" NH developments" fans kept telling us about are nothing but" trolling moments by Kishi in disguise". The only ship to be on the lookout for now is SS.

SS? I dont see pairing as still alive where one of them tried to kill the other and has no buildup as well as one of them is shown to develope feelings for someone else. Face it guys, SS simply has nothing to stand on, its as dead as NH

I am a nerd and read the chapter again. The "girlfriend" scene reminds me of a similar moment -- when Tazuna and Inari showed up to help rebuild Konoha.

Remember this from #451?



The love triangle did exist then, at least as far as Naruto was concerned it did, but he lied about it. You can tell he's lying not only by his words but by his expression and posture as well. And in manga time, this scene didn't happen all that long ago.

But now we have #631....



We get a significantly different expression and response from Naruto. And he could just as easily have lied here too if he was too embarrassed or uncomfortable, or if he was worried about embarrassing Sakura like he was in #451. It's not as if Minato would have known the difference any more than Tazuna and Inari did.

But outside of a momentary fumble -- which was presumably caused by his dead father asking such a blunt and unexpected personal question -- Naruto tells the truth.

So what was it, specifically, that emboldened him to answer yes this time?

Two significant things occurred between the two scenes: (1) Sakura's confession, and (2) the other Team 7 "reunion." Somehow, in the mix of all that, it would seem that Naruto came away with a confidence in his chances with Sakura that he didn't have before.

Was he more convinced of Sakura's love than he seemed at the time? Did what Sai said later convince him? Was it a combination? Was it because Naruto saved Sakura from Sasuke's murder attempt, and that changed his mind about standing on the sidelines?

It's not shocking or anything, because despite the problems with her confession Naruto did get some serious encouragement out of it, but I didn't see it then the way I'm seeing it now. His answer in #631 was a qualified yes, so he's acknowledging there are complications and he's not being stupidly confident, but he asserted himself and his feelings in a way he never has before.

That's kind of a big deal, I think, and it really makes me wonder how it's going to get resolved. Not that I wasn't wondering before....


ETA: I forgot to say that it's interesting that in both cases Naruto answers before Sakura can. o__O

I was also thinking about why Naruto said, "Uuuuummmmhhhh~Uhm? Yeah!"

It makes me wonder if something happened on or behind the scenes that I didn't notice for the below.
1.) Their interaction against one another has changed.
a. The previous chapters
Naruto and Sakura's reactions were completely different compared to the previous chapters. When Konohamaru asked him, He blushed and said, "Wow you guys are perceptive!" (His face and posture was same with the Tazuna scene)
And Sakura has denied it, and punched him for making the wrong assumption. After that Naruto will just get hurt, a little disappointed and quiet (lol).

b. The current chapter
However this time, Naruto said it in a serious manner. His face didn't have the blush nor the hand behind the head when he's joking, or embarrassed. Sakura also didn't deny it like she used to. She head bumped him and he retorted back to her (in a cute way), WHICH he would have never done before! (Usually, he would get scared and shut up, especially if he's told to do so.)

2.) Naruto's contemplation and conviction
He was going, "Uuuuuuummmmmmhhhhhh" and I can assume he was probably reflecting the past. I don't think he was surprised by Minato's sudden blunt question, because if he was he would react like the time Sai asked that question("WHAT!?") instead of contemplating with "Uuuuuummmmmhhhhhh"

What makes me think is that while he was processing his thoughts, he suddenly came to a point of "Uhm?" and THEN said "YEAH!!!"
I am trying hard to think what this "Uhm?" part is. Because this "Uhm?" part is what lead him to say "YEAH!"
There must have been a certain episode he was reflecting when he thought "Uhm?", and that made him say Sakura is his girlfriend confidently.

P.S. Btw, as I said to reddragon the translation on "Uuuuuummmmmmhhhhhh....Uhm? Yeah!" is accurate imo.
P.S. 2 The word "kanojo", which Minato used is meant "lover" not "a friend that is a girl".

I find it funny though in one aspect, is NH going to hate Minato now? Hate Naruto? What if Hinata ultimately approved of their happiness? If Hinata became a NS fan well, i think that would be the final nail in the coffin. Don't know about the rest of you but I may need a flak jacket and stock up on supplies, I sense a flame war all over the internet ready to erupt.

Another thing I really liked about this chapter is how well it reflects Sakura's speech in 573. She said that "...But not matter what you say this time...we're going to be together...Not just me...We're going to all fight together this time!"

....and here we are....with everyone, including Sasuke, literally standing together against a common enemy.

This chapter just keeps getting better and better.

As much as I feel sorry for Hinata, I feel sorry for Rock Lee too, and to a smaller extent Love letter ninja.

Meanwhile, you look at us and most of cared about both Naruto and Sakura. Hell, we even cared about Hinata. Sure we didn't support NH, but we cared about Hinata's development and what she was doing. We cared that Kishi basically treated her like canon fodder this whole time.

I think we all feel bad for Rock Lee and such, but we know Rock Lee always bounces back so we don;t worry about him. Lover-nin...well, honestly, he is a no-name and only showed up once. It is hard to care for a person you don't really know that well and while we did feel for him that chapter...we don't feel the same now.

That's what was so great about Naruto, Rock lee, etc. They didn't hang on emotions, they always bounced back. (Although, I have my own argument about a few things Naruto has done recently that I find distaste for, but that is another matter)

I have not posted in a chapter thread for I-don't-know-how-long, but this chapter has got me excited enough to give my opinion.

But first of all, can we stop talking about -and mocking- other fandoms' reactions, PLEASE? Mocking other fandoms is against the rules, and honestly we should not caring about what other people thinks.

Now, my thoughts:

- I hoped that Minato commented on Sakura reminding him of Kushina, but I did not expected that he did, let alone throw a "Take care of my son" statement. But I am glad of he did. Like everyone else, I found the whole scene very funny and heartwarming (and now you know why I never fret every time Hinata shows up in one panel or does something).
- Again someone comments on Sakura seeming Naruto's grilfriend. It has been happening since Team 7 returned from Wave Country. It is not only funny that Sakura did not deny it but also Naruto states that he considers they are a couple, after a fashion. Rejected confession, huh?
- Naruto also openly stated that he was not surprised because he sensed his father coming. Then it was not a plothole (or it was, but it has been avoided or justified). This is because is better reading several chapters in a row instead of weekly. You have the large picture.
- "Hashirama! I was waiting you! Let's have our fated final battle!" "You'll have to keep waiting. Busy now." "..." Oh, God, I was in stitches.
- Sasuke wanting being... WHAT? It is not a wonder what Naruto's friends reacted like that. Kiba's lines were so proper as funny.
- Sakura has reacted to Sasuke right like she always did in the whole Part II: shock, worry, caution and even a bit of fear (think about it: she has never blushed about Sasuke in all Shippuden). I am not surprised.
- Sakura's last lines were also very awesome. It was about time (I agree that it is possible Kishimoto was addressing her haters with this).
- Team 7 erunited? Meh. I never cared much for it, but I guess that it is a nice throwback.

I see NH as dead because of the confirmed parrallel, but a lot of people say its dead because naruto again confirmed his feelings for sakura. My question now is, where did he confirm his feelings again? I mean yeah he said that shes his girlfriend in someway, but how can this be seen as a confirmation?

I know that naruto never changes his feelings but where is he confirming them in this chapter?

He didn't have any comedy face when answering to his dad (even though he asked her, not him) and since this is his dad, why on earth would you even lie. He at least thought of it due to the whole complications of their action, but in the end, he said that she is his girlfriend. Again, this is his last chance to meet his dad, so best to let him know his life before leaving. Also, Kishi pretty much did this tactic to confirm the parallel, which made Minato happy because Naruto has the same taste as Minato, loving a tsundere. So you can say he is proud of him and pretty much can leave happy, going to tell Kushina the good news.

What's funny to me is that Minato approved it and didn't think, "Well, you're a liar, she beating you up." It's like seeing that makes it confirm that they are together. Also, Naruto could have said no, but the thing is that he's answering for Sakura, which is funny, and he pretty much decided for her, as to say, "This is my love interest". Honestly, that small segment wasn't really needed when it all comes down to it.

So yes, after hand holding, Naruto has not changed at all BEFORE that event. What's worse for everyone is how Minato know approve it and pretty much left Sakura in her hands to take care of him. Remember how people tried to make Neji say that line in the spoiler thread? Well, I bet they wished it was real. That line is really an approval and blessing for the greater future for a couple. Oddly enough, I saw a show that the family was leaving and the mother told her son's love interest to take care of her son. That all said NH died due to Naruto still loving Sakura.

Here's also the part that I mentioned in the last chapter thread. 630 was a leading ground to something pairing related, much like 615; however, 616 failed to capitalized the pairing moment to be something that none of us should ignore, such as Obito sees Hinata as Rin, or Naruto feels "warm" with Hinata. But none of that happened and instead, it was like "Oh cool, I can share chakra. Ok, let go, Hinata." 630 had Sakura talking strong for the people about Naruto. Minato shows up at the end and everyone is wondering if this is the moment we have been waiting for since RtN. 631 didn't fail. It's like Game 7 overtime of a Hockey where they have a powerplay and all they have to do is score one and win the match. This is what happened. To make matter worse, not only a parallel happened, which NS is no doubt the endgame, but because Naruto reconfirm his feelings, it's an early start to kill NH off. You would think he would continue the love drama, but now, it's only Team 7 love triangle.

SS is near red zone because the parallel is confirmed and how much backup there is for Naruto's side as Sasuke continues to push any love interest as his next development most likely about brotherhood. Maybe not here, but in the next arc or phase of this arc, who knows. Sasuke was really to himself here and don't give a damn if no one approve him, which sounds like he will do it by force. It doesn't help that Sakura's shining moment(s) is being reflected by Naruto, not Sasuke. She was there to spread the word for others to come and interact with him. Naruto was listening carefully because of Itachi and when he said he wants to be Hokage, in a wrong way, Naruto is going to have to take care of that. Not to say he's going to let Sasuke be Hokage, but show him what's important to have: family. Anyway, that's a story for another time. Point is there's a possibility that SS could end here, or just tease but lead nowhere due to Sasuke being, well, Sasuke. Who knows. All I know is it's funny when this volume began, Sakura is been developing for herself but reflected by Naruto. His motivations, his injuries, his feelings, his passions, and now her determination to fight alongside. Funny, because I saw Naruto motivated by Sasuke of wanting to pass him, while Sakura motivated by Naruto because Naruto wants her to be safe, so "No matter what" came to play and she told Naruto that she's ready. This chapter really harmed more than I realized. SS may seem like last hope for haters, but to me, it's the last thing to get out and once it happens, time to take it all in.

There seems to be a fine line between "mocking/bashing" and "criticizing/discussing ideas." It seems that line is getting thinner every single day that now it seems like we can't even discuss ideas without someone claiming it is a flame or some sort of bashing.

Truth be told, all the websites seem to be doing this whenever a NS moment happens, but when a supposed NH moment happens people mocked, bashed, and everything just as much, but no one really said anything nor was any site closed down.

Meh, I really couldn't careless about other sites' opinions. I come here, say my piece about the chapter, then that's it.

But seriously, people have been posting comments made from other sites in here. A lot of those comments come from the more...vehement members of the fandom, those that are most likely fodder for abuse.

Also, there have been posts that are referring to other pairing fans that can also be seen as mocking them. Sure, this was a joyous chapter for our part of the fandom, but that's no excuse to call out other pairing fans as being delusional that their ship has sunk.

Even though we may not be mods, it's our responsibility to practice self-control when it comes to these things. This is a Chapter Thread, hence we talk about the events that occurred in the chapter, not the reactions of the fandom to said chapter....

Anyway, this'll be the last thing I post about this issue.

Ah! I realized something. With that other translation I think Naruto said splitting hairs right? I think he was saying Sakura is a bit rough and aggressive with him at times or something like that, you know hinting at her tsundere traits and Sakura took offence that, not that she is his girlfriend. If I'm right that means she is okay with the idea.
