Favorite genre...musicals, maybe? lol I like comedies, suspense thrillers, some fantasy, historical/period pieces, older mysteries... *shrug* I tend to veer away from gore-fest movies and what I consider bore-fests: political movies (unless made especially fun or something), rom-coms that use actors I don't like or the same tired storylines and characters...

And now I must spam this wonderful piece, regardless of the consequences.
I seriously need to watch this movie again....

Renting here can be cheaper, but the problem is that I have no money at all, so doing either is pretty difficult P;
Awww that scene cracks me up, but I always feel bad for the Roboman XD

I hardly rent or go to the movies these days, since most of it feels like just an bunch of special effects smashed together and people pretending to be actors. It's rare for an movie to come out and actually please me these days. Guess I'm picky.
Ow, the roboman, that guy deserve an prize for that scene alone.

I can see that. I think the last movie I saw in theaters that made me go "omg that was a fantastic movie" was The King's Speech. There have been a few since then that I generally liked, but none that really stood out to me for plot, setting, or characters alone or combined. And what's with all of the remakes lately? It's getting annoying >=/

The latest movie I saw on the theathers that really delivered was Super 8, that was the best child acting I ever seen *_____* And I usually find kids bad at acting, so it means a lot coming from me.
The problem with remakes is that they don't feel like remakes. The directors seem to have an such an desperate need to make their movies unique, that they forget that they are supposed to look like the original piece, and if an remake is not faithful, they usually suck, similar to movie adaptaions from other medias. I think deep down that remakes are done because of general lack of new ideas for movies.

Exactly--if you're remaking something, give it your own spin while still keeping the core of what made the original what it was. It seems like a lot of remakes today are just trying to give the originals "edge" by making them flashier, more violent in the case of horror, or more sexy. A lot of them come off as being really shallow, completely missing the heart that the originals had.
