Yes, you've put it perfectly.

From everything we know of the Hyuuga clan to outwardly be proud and protective of their byakugan, and inwardly committed to upholding the tradition of shackling family members who might later pose a threat to the head family. So the orphaned powerhouse of who's in an undisputed line for Hokage would be especially appealing to a family that built it's power the old fashioned way - by marriage and suppression. And Naruto has been revealed to be an Minato and Kushina's child, but without the messy problem of extra family, so the Hyuuga's could have a future son-in-law of a good family name and not have to share him with another clan or set of tradition. The Hyuuga's could influence him completely.

So the pressure on Hinata to claim this prize of husband would have been huge. Piling already onto her stalker view of Naruto. Now the whole clan would have been stalking him!!

And yes, it does seem like Hinata has left her clan behind to marry him. Instead of her being the dutiful daughter, she is living outside the bounds of the clan restraints, devoted entirely to Naruto's needs. They don't live inside the clan compound, they don't have to perform the bird seal, the are not protected by the other members of the family like Hinata was, and the children are not being raised as Hyuugas, constantly fighting and trying to establish a pecking order although knowing they'll never be out of it.

There seems to be no intention of Hinata's part of moving into the head of her clan. So my guess is that role has moved to Hanabi, and Hinata has relinquished every claim to the Hyuuga clan except for the name. It's an amicable separation, however, because Hiashi and the rest of the family still want to keep their good influence with the Hokage.

I have to think that if Hinata had married outside the clan to someone like Kiba — a naruto-esque shinobi of middling skill with the same loud mouth and crass nature as naruto — the Hyuuga family would not have been so kind to her. She would have been roundly disowned by her family, and brought into a family that was entirely the opposite of her upbringing leaving her to feel just as lost in her adult family as she did as in her childhood one.

I honestly feel that in the long run, you nailed it, Tricks. :D This is why I love watching your posts! And this is why you are right. Though some people called Hinata the Hyuga princess and heiress, even if it feels like she isn't to me either. And the fact too that she had only loved the idea of Naruto, and that perhaps Hiashi and the others kept their influences just to make sure that Naruto could be swayed to help them, seeing his and Hinata's marriage as a political benefit.

How long exactly is she going to be an heiress, at this rate it's just an empty title that will fade when Hiashi dies and names Hinaba successor.

Brings me back to a blog I recently responded to...the quote being...

“People who are upset about Hinata not becoming head of the clan don’t know anything about her. She’s never showed interest in the position. And why would she. Her clan deemed her unworthy around the age of 8, she literally had to prove herself worthy to her own father. That’s not supposed to happen. I think she’s happy without the title “

...which again, shows that people just pick and choose what to remember about the story (this person completely forgetting/ignoring Hinata's goals stated in Part 1), to which I respond....

"And by the logic by whoever posted the quoted statement, if that were true, then how the heck did Hinata ever expect to be able to “change the clan”, especially by abolishing a GENERATIONS OLD LAW that was still regularly, and unquestionably, implemented to that very day, if she had NO power within the clan itself? If people honestly think she could do such a thing as an “outsider” to the clan, then they are extremely naive.

Even a Kage can’t, or at least most likely won’t, try to force any of the individual (and especially prestigious) clans to act the way they want them to or risk a revolt. Even Tobirama didn’t try to do that with the Uchiha Clan, but rather tried to give them an outlet for their dissatisfaction by making them the police force, so I highly doubt Naruto could’ve forced them to change with his authority without political and social backlash that would no doubt ripple throughout the village.

Otherwise, the only way Hinata could’ve possibly gotten to the clan to change (which would require changing the feelings of all of the higher echelons of the clan, as I’m sure even Clan Heads can’t just do whatever they want with the clan lest they risk getting ousted/overthrown/etc.) would be if she had A LOT of importance and (political) influence WITHIN the clan itself, if not be the very head of the clan."

I gotta question, was it ever explained why Neji's father got the curse seal, but Hanabi didn't?

Because Hanabi is part of the main branch of the clan.

No.
For some reason your own twin bro become branch member, but your youngest daughter doesn't.

@nostradamus
So do neji father.

I think it was stated that Hanabi didn't get the seal because she showed more potential than Hinata.  Hiashi made an exception with her

Neji is more hyuga than Hinata and hanabi ever hope, and still doesn't stop him to become a member of branch family.

Because of the fact Hizashi was born a few minutes after Hiashi, thus he was placed into the branch side, even if he had been noted to be a little stronger than Hiashi.

Tobirama did that to facilitate spying on the clan, he basically segregated them

Wants to improve her skills to be a better ninja? nope, just wants Naruto to notice her big kittens and bang her all night.

Even to her own fans, they see her as nothing more than the most sexist derogatory view of women I have ever seen. Nothing else mattered than getting into Naruto's pants.

Maybe at first (via Itachi and "Tobi"/"Madara"), but thanks to Kishi-retcon-to, (Edo) Tobirama himself told Sasuke (and he's shown to be quite bluntly honest and open about his thoughts) that it was a compromise between appeasing the Uchiha by giving them more power with something they would be good at while also trying to protect the interests of the village itself, but, as Orochimaru pointed out, giving the Uchiha power like that only backfired by making them want even more.

The real segregation didn't start until after Obito made Kurama attack Konoha and, honestly, who could blame the elders for their suspicion when one considers that there are almost no ways to truly control a Biju, one of which was dead, yet there was plenty of the other way right in their own backyard.

Nope, what Oro said was that Tobirama's decision segregated the uchiha and they became pissed bc of it

This is so sad and so true... I could cry...

Lately, more than only sexism I see in Naruto's end a (weird) nationalistic approach... :headscratch:

I may be exaggerating a bit, but... :headscratch:

In the end Sasuke and Hinata are the JAPANESE ONES, aren't they?

And the SS and NH marital life is more a TRADITIONAL japanese marital life (not like Kushina and Minato one), isn't it?

And they've been handed everything on a silver platter. :zaru:

I don't know about that and to be fair, I am not about to dive into cultural differences on what is right and wrong, but what I think is wrong is how these two pairings are based on all the wrongs reasons.

It is sexist towards women because women only exist to be baby-makers and slaves to men, they think nothing else, BUT the men they are after and are seen as terrible women if they move on with their lives away from that love. Traditional or not, modern society has to change it. Otherwise, we cease to expand the human mind and ways that can better human life. We shouldn't be fighting against change...we should be embracing it to make life better.

However, this story is also sexist towards men and I will forever be offended as a man by this story. Apparently, our love for a girl is not important and we need to "grow up" from "childish things" (but apparently for women it is not childish.) Our feelings are ignored because we HAVE to be with the girl who fell in love with us first regardless of how our feelings are. We are also seen as nothing more than brainless trophies who apparently only want to procreate with anyone willing to open their legs.

I am so sick of everyone keep saying to me how "You didn't see how Sakura was in love with Sasuke," but in reverse they  never saw how Naruto was in love with Sakura or how Sasuke didn't even love Sakura and by all arguments so far....still doesn't. There is no proof, even in Gaiden, that he is in love with Sakura. There is no one panel, no single moment, to prove that love he has for her. As far as I can tell, he is just using her to continue his clan. There is nothing else.

"Well naruto moved on"

Not according to the Last.....and even so why is it okay for Naruto to move on, but not Sakura to move on from her crush?

This double standard is ridiculous.

I'm sure in the coming chapter Sasuke will proclaim his love for Sakura, most likely in the form of a Chidori one hopes.

I think I'm going to cry seeing it. I just won't be able to hold my tears in.

It would be the most romantic gesture of love ever seen in any work of fiction.
