Given it's point in time... I'm quite shocked myself. I was certain Kishi would try to prolong that out a little more. The fact he killed off NaruHina makes it hard for me to see it appear again, outside of Naruto turning her down

I was too much a bit skeptical yesterday.. Now I kinda think that yeah, NH is probably dead because well.... Naruto made his choice. Looooong time ago.

That's what Kishi just did. Honestly, there's no point to go back now. What's worse is that we have a major parallel confirmation, which pretty means it WILL be canon. I warned everyone that a small NS moment is game over for NH. Now it has. Excuse me...

I wasn't taking your warning with a grain of salt, but I didn't think Kishi had the balls to destroy a ship before the official end of the manga

I am a nerd and read the chapter again. The "girlfriend" scene reminds me of a similar moment -- when Tazuna and Inari showed up to help rebuild Konoha.

Remember this from #451?



The love triangle did exist then, at least as far as Naruto was concerned it did, but he lied about it. You can tell he's lying not only by his words but by his expression and posture as well. And in manga time, this scene didn't happen all that long ago.

But now we have #631....



We get a significantly different expression and response from Naruto. And he could just as easily have lied here too if he was too embarrassed or uncomfortable, or if he was worried about embarrassing Sakura like he was in #451. It's not as if Minato would have known the difference any more than Tazuna and Inari did.

But outside of a momentary fumble -- which was presumably caused by his dead father asking such a blunt and unexpected personal question -- Naruto tells the truth.

So what was it, specifically, that emboldened him to answer yes this time?

Two significant things occurred between the two scenes: (1) Sakura's confession, and (2) the other Team 7 "reunion." Somehow, in the mix of all that, it would seem that Naruto came away with a confidence in his chances with Sakura that he didn't have before.

Was he more convinced of Sakura's love than he seemed at the time? Did what Sai said later convince him? Was it a combination? Was it because Naruto saved Sakura from Sasuke's murder attempt, and that changed his mind about standing on the sidelines?

It's not shocking or anything, because despite the problems with her confession Naruto did get some serious encouragement out of it, but I didn't see it then the way I'm seeing it now. His answer in #631 was a qualified yes, so he's acknowledging there are complications and he's not being stupidly confident, but he asserted himself and his feelings in a way he never has before.

That's kind of a big deal, I think, and it really makes me wonder how it's going to get resolved. Not that I wasn't wondering before....


ETA: I forgot to say that it's interesting that in both cases Naruto answers before Sakura can. o__O

Yes, of course. These SS arguments have won me over, we were obviously wrong. Because the fact that Naruto simply acknowledge Hinata's existence, that means he will obviously fall for her. It is so much more logically reasoning than Sakura falling for Naruto because she has grown to care for him. It wasn't as if Sakura was willing to kill Sasuke, the man we all knew she has romantic feelings for, so that the burden wouldn't be on him. While you may say that Naruto acknowledging Hinata's existence is a retarded argument, mainly because other characters have also acknowledged her existence (most before him), but it is not. You obviously don't know how love works, it is all about simply knowing another person exists is how people fall in love. It is obviously not about similarities in personalities and the desire to do things for one an other, it just requires that you know that person exists. Heck, that means I am in love with all of you guys on this site, as I know all you exist. Oh, I hear the wedding bells ringing already, and I haven't even met any of you in person.

You may also be thinking about that databook argument, where it says that Sakura was Sasuke's only thing to fill his loneliness, even though in that same databook it also says that Sakura may also be developing new feelings for Naruto. Yet obviously that part wasn't meant to be taken seriously, though the part about Sakura and Sasuke is. Despite the fact that there has been things in the manga that contradict that information, like several characters claiming that Naruto is the only one that can save Sasuke, and how Sasuke doesn't even think about Sakura much. While there has been parts in the manga that may support the fact that Sakura may have new feelings for Naruto (Yamato's unfinished sentence and Sakura's confusing confession), but they were also not meant to be taken seriously. In fact, I now see that the only things that were always meant to be taken seriously was stuff that involved any Naruto and Hinata interactions (as those are proof that he acknowledges her existence, and thus means he is falling in love with her), and anything that may involve any Sasusaku moments (despite the fact I can't really think of any).

So it is official, I have jump ship. These arguments have one won me over, and I feel so foolish to think otherwise. Character development doesn't matter, it is all about knowing someone exists, and acknowledging it..........wait............ Sakura has also acknowledged Naruto's existence, and she thought she hated him. Hmmmmm.......this is now getting more complex than I thought..........oh wait, even Sasuke has acknowledge Naruto's existence, I guess Narusasu has more ground than I thought. I guess it wasn't a crack pairing after all (though I can't say the same about Sasuhina, I don't even think they were ever in the same panel). This all becoming harder to understand, I'll have to talk to you all later. Maybe at our multiple weddings.

I've been restraining myself from lurking on NF for a while. I never really bothered myself by reading anti-NS, pro-NH or pro-SS threads, but I just did, lol. XD
Those comments... urghh. They say that Naruto was joking about the whole girlfriend thing. And that he's like Kushina, so he shouldn't marry himself. Then they went like: Kishi can't be serious after all the development NH got and that Team 10 and everyone else was stealing Hinata's panel time.

1. Sakura saving Naruto in badass fashion. I could see her punching something out of the way but what would make it so awesome is that she wouldn't have to sacrifice herself to do so.

As for Sai well he already had his character resolution earlier during the war arc. There really isn't much else that can be provided for him unless Kishi decided to include him into the Team 7 gathering this chapter.

I really hope Sai returns and everyone kicks Sasuke out of the k11 and team 7.

Naruto is an honest person, he's blunt. And you wouldn't joke about that in the reunion with your daddy, especially if he considered the handholding with Hinata romantic. The fact that he hesitated may be because he's not sure if Sakura wants to be his girlfriend yet, but that they definitely have something going on.

I desperately tried to gain on the thread so I would not repeat everything everyone already said for a hundreth time, but who am I kidding. It's a never-ending challenge.

And I want just to share my excitement about the chapter and, maybe, discuss Sakura's presupposed power and what will be her actual input in the battle with Juubi. In my opinion, it's been too long for us to witness her full resolve and potential. I'm so glad she got a spotlight and dearly hope that Haruno won't be overshadowed by the two teammates. They should make a fighting combination of three, not of two. It's very intresting how they're going to act in this formation after such a huge break in their interaction.

I see it as a confirmation of that his feelings haven't changed, a lot of NaruHina fans liked to think that from the events of Sakura's confession and then to 615 that Naruto has gotten over Sakura and was starting to fall for Hinata.

If this were the case then Naruto would not have said yes to Minato, even if it was meant to be a joke of some sorts. Saying "Yeah she is my girlfriend" or something along those lines WHILE still right next to Hinata makes me believe that Naruto has not once questioned his feelings for Sakura and hasn't even considered having feelings for Hinata.

That or Naruto is just a huge tease and doesn't care about anyone's heart lol.

Can we from now on ignore completely the NH fanbase? Their ship has been sunk down for good with this chapter, we know its not going to happen, they know it's not going to happen but its better to deny it and keep gasping at straws that it will happen. Kishi has NEVER intended to make NH canon since the so called" NH developments" fans kept telling us about are nothing but" trolling moments by Kishi in disguise". The only ship to be on the lookout for now is SS.
