I wasn't around for the RtN buildup and eventual release.

 

Can someone run me through what exactly happened here and on other places and how it was marketed? Also the fallout once spoilers dropped?

most of us thought that hinata and sasuke will be of importance in the movie based on the promotional poster and the trailer that showed both nh & ss interaction. when someone uploaded a review of the movie people calmed down because the reviewer said the movie had ns moments in it. and later a screen shot came out showing naruto rescuing sakura bridal style and that made ns fans very happy and nh/ss fans very angry, even going so far as to claim the movie isn't canon anymore.

because "will make"  is interesting

whether it's canon or not wasn't my point. my point is that they retracted their statements about the movie being canon since it didn't favor their pairing.

The point was that, when it looked like RTN was going to be NH/SS, they said it was canon. But when it turned out to be the opposite, they said it's not canon and that Kishi didn't have anything to do with the movie, besides the designs.

And I recall Kishi saying that the movie was supposed to showcase their development... So he made them bratty in the beginning, much like ther Part I selves, and had them develop throughout the movie. What Sakura does later on is much more important, because she learned and changed.

Was there NH/SS teasing from official sources using twitter/articles?

 

I don't know if I'll say this situation is the same but take everything with a grain of salt till we get a proper trailer/manga updates.

Sakura's marriage will be a core part of the story. There's only two people who it could be, one of them is in the village the other one is still an kitten.

because Naruto and Sakura are the only ones given full layout content. The others we're still stuck with faces.

Well...

It's unlikely that any other pairing besides NS is gonna happen at this point and the massive amount of marketing only teases about them isn't helping it.

As for unreleased sketches, they are certainly being held for spoilerific reasons.

You can't go and show Kakashi in his Hokage outfit much less reveal that Sasuke is obviously wearing Otogakure clothing.

As for Hinata, she is just probably wearing the Hyuuga clan head's clothing.

That or the writers drank a pool of vodka, gave her a chakra fruit and made her the villain of the movie.
