Yeah, me too. For Naruto's goal to work, Sasuke has to live...or live long enough to make amends to those he's personally hurt. Then if he dies, sacrifices himself for a cause, the general populace redeems him, but he's already made up to the ones who matter.
Maybe I'm just secretly more of a friendshipper than I am a pairing shipper XD Sakura and Karin could be good friends gaiz! Sakura and Sasuke make good friends (after he is "redeemed" if he is). NaruSaku is an awesome pairing! XD Yeah, I'm learning more about myself and my tastes, thanks guys XD. It's true, I like pairings that have that touch of mutual comradery and affection, which I don't think the other pairings equally measure as NaruSaku does. Maybe that's just from what I've seen, and maybe if I go back and reread after the manga is all done and our speculations put more or less to rest, I could see the SasuKarin side.... but hopefully I'm not fuming that some other pairing happened instead of my OTP. XD
Yeah, I got the feeling when Sakura was healing Karin, that this was the definite end for Karin's relationship with Sasuke. But for Sakura, it was carrying on — either through her or Naruto. Anyway, with Karin, I had the feeling of resolution.
However, if you compare Sasu/Karin to Naru/Hina, it's the same one-sided love on the girls' part and the same vague situation-based bond on the boys' part. It's the same worship from afar, strive for attention scenario, with neither girls radically developing in their personality as a result of the relationship. Both are only motivated by the boys' power/attitude. The Sakura/Karin is presented as a parallel, i think S/K and N/H has a greater parallel. The ony difference is NH isn't over yet!

the wording here is very specific, and I stand again on one indisputable fact. In a manga based on bonds and connections. Sasuke whose suppsoed strongest bond is with a guy he nearly killed __ie Naruto-- states VERY clearly and succinctly that Karin is the One he NEEDs.
That in and of it self is a very signifigant moment in the story. Sasuke Mr. I dont need anyone bonds are for losers. States very clearly that he Needs Karin. Not her abilities. Needs her. this is a specific and very interesting choice of words no matter how you view the actual pairing.
its as signifigant in ways as Naruto saying I like people Like you. Not I like you. its a very specific choice of wording and phrase that tells us something specific about the character. in this case naruto likes people like Hinata, which by proxy includes other underdogs Lee, Sakura, and so on.
In Sasukes case he is stating that he needs a specific person. and stating that person by name.
I think Sasuke's statement is meant to be vague. Because on one hand he is expressing his need for Karin (which can be interpreted in a romantic light) and on the other hand he is completely confirming that he is an absolute opportunist. Which we already know, as evidenced by his flight to Orochimaru in the first place.
The thing is, whether he's an opportunist or not, I don't think Karin cares. Remember, this is also the girl who carries around his discarded sweaty shirts in her bag. She's shown herself to be quite the opportunist also, all the way down to her interrogation at Konoha.
So all that really diminishes the "need you" statement to more of a "need you right now for this one thing."
Again, I just have a strong feeling that this mutually exclusive using relationship is done. It feels resolved to me, particularly from Karin's pov. I think there was some surprise on Sasuke's part about Karin being an Uzumaki, but that's it.
And he idea that it cements Sasu/Karin as a Naru/Sasu restart the clan thing is ludicrous. It steals the thunder from Naruto saving Sasuke by letting him have little Uzumaki babies. I just don't think Kishimoto is going to let Sasuke have any connection outside of Naruto. And don't forget, restarting the clan is no longer Sasuke's goal: he wants to kill everyone else off to cleanse their name. Niiiice.
Seriously, I don't think Sasuke's going to be allowed to have anyone in his life. And my feeling is that the team Hebi skills were recapped because something bad's going to happen. Either Kabuto's going to fight Sasuke with them, or he's going to infect Sasuke with all of it...or both.
