The problem with this post is that the reasons are more about Naruto than Hinata. It's less about what she has done for him, and more about what Naruto's done for her. Not surprising, considering Hinata's character revolves entirely around him.  And in my book, that doesn't make a particularly interesting heroine. If all a character has is their love for "blah blah", then how are we supposed to feel more connected to them? I don't get. Naruto and Sakura are my favorite characters because they have so many layers to them, it's not just about romance.

 

And all I really have to say to debunk NaruHina is one sentence: Naruto has done all of those things for almost everyone in the entire story, not just Hinata.

 

Also, great post NS4L!   I agree completely, that's one of my top favorite NaruSaku moments. It's also when I started shipping NaruSaku as well too. It's a shame Naruto missed it though.

Thank you. Naruto missed it, but the fact he don't know and still continue love her is just crazy. It's as if to say, "I don't need a moment to find out if she loves me or not. I can see it through her heart. That's why I feel like when they get to the breaking point, Naruto would be shocked to know she moved on. Then again, it's usually the protagonist that don't know the love interest's feelings, until they finally confront. Nevertheless, this is my all time favorite. So much feels as you may say.

I've never met VJ or came across him, but I've heard numerous horror stories involving him. Just ignore him. Those types of people are not worth your time or energy and it's best to not give them attention. People like that crave attention and enjoy getting a rise out of others.

 

I've cross paths with him on tumblr , reblogged a couple of stuff but till this day he hasn't given me an answer.. I think he hates me . Though he is one of the Sakura haters and loves Hinata .

It's not that I didn't recognize that Naruto himself admired his strength, and that he would support Sakura in her dreams, it's just it wasn't until that point that I trusted Kishi enough to write Sakura as still (at least somewhat) focused on her medical/kunoichi career.  The fact that Kishi brought it up again (seemingly late in the game), and in the way he did (with Sakura demanding respect, and with Naruto reacting with pride among other emotions), gave me hope that he wouldn't write the epilogue etc in such a way indicating that Sakura just gave up her career because she was so in love with Naruto/focused on being his wife.  Don't get me wrong, this does not reflect my opinion on individuals who choose to become stay-at-home moms or dads, I think it's awesome if someone wants to do that and has the opportunity to do that, but with Sakura it would have bothered me because I adore how hard she's worked and how far she's come.  So the indication that Kishi would have Sakura focus on her career in some capacity even after the couple was "canonized" made the difference for me.  Out of NH, SS, and NS I preferred NS, and felt that they were inevitable (if the manga were to end with at least one couple) but I didn't ship them or enjoy them as a shipper until I felt that Sakura would be allowed to keep her professional identiy.  It had more to do with Kishi than Naruto.

@NS4L:  Love the LAP on the KN4 incident.    You made me remeber a lot of what I really loved about the scene as well.  I especially agree that Sakura's reaction, nor the entire scene with Yamato itself, would really make sense if it was just platonic friendship he was talking about.  Both the readers and Sakura are well aware that she considers Naruto a friend and cares about him a lot - this is nothing new.  But to imply that she feels more than just friendship for Naruto, this matches the scene perfectly (and I really don't think that's biased either, since again, Sakura's reaction and Yamato specifically talking about the strength of her feelings for Naruto really doesn't lend itself to any other interpretation).

 

Great to see that you finally caved in and got a tumblr account!  Just be cautious with tags - there have been many arguments started over improperly tagging things on tumblr.

You're entitled to like and dislike what you want, but bear in mind that Sakura has loved Naruto for a long time - at the very least since the beginning of part two, and likely since the end of part one.  Just because it wasn't necessarily romantic in nature doesn't mean that Sakura wasn't extremely appreciative and caring towards Naruto.  It's not as though she was blowing Naruto off or placing Sasuke before him - quite the opposite has been occuring since the POAL onward (for instance, recall that even before Sakura learned that Sasuke hadn't come back after VOTE, she went to go see Naruto first in the hospital).  So I'm not really sure what more you wanted from Sakura towards Naruto, since she already often acts as though she has romantic love for Naruto (imo at least).

Naruto undertakes POAL for her > Sakura still loves sasuke

 

Naruto Becomes hero of konoha defeats Pain> Sakura still loves sasuke?

 

Confession > Sakura did it because she loves sasuke

 

Sasuke tries to kill her TWICE and Naruto saves her in the nick of time > Still loves Sasuke

 

540 > Everything up to this chapter is irrelivent because her love for sasuke is that justifiable

 

631 > progress finally?

 

635 > DOESN'T TRUST HIM..... BUT STILL LOVES HIM....

 

Its confusing the kitten out of me.... Sakura is just a puzzle you cant solve.... at this point her love for sasuke is the most OP thing in this manga.... for all the wrong reasons

Yes, Sakura did still love Sasuke at the time of the POAL, I will not argue that.

 

But, I don't see why Sakura should love Naruto just because he defeated Pein and became a hero, maybe that's not what you meant, but that's how it sounds.

 

At the bolded: (Sigh) Seriously, how many times must it be explained. Sakura did not make her confession 'because she loves Sasuke' that makes no sense and it's a load of bull. She did it to PROTECT Naruto, not Sasuke; Naruto. And she was willing and resolved to kill the one she 'loves' so Naruto wouldn't have to carry the burden. She also had her own selfish motive, she couldn't bear to Sasuke fall further into darkness and the only way to stop him, that she could see, was to kill him. She did that for herself, not Sasuke - he sure didn't appreciate the attempt. The reason Sakura couldn't follow through in the end was because she couldn't let go of the old Sasuke

 

And the assumption that Sakura still loves Sasuke after he tried to kill her, is just that: An assumption. She has not said she loves him, 540 did not show the face of someone in love, it showed someone deeply hurting and probably feeling betrayed. Are people forgetting that Sakura said herself "Only I can decide how I feel"? She has not yet said, but there are very strong hints being laid out that I feel are being blatantly ignored.

 

And where does it say in 635 that even though Sakura doesn't trust Sasuke, she still loves him (in a romantic way)? It does not.

Yes, I finally did it and I knew it will be the longest post thus far. It's the moment that really speaks volume to me and I remember saying to myself, "Wow, anime/manga have really changed" though this was before I went to see more anime/manga, because at the time, I only thought they care about actions, no talk. Childhood. Even then, as I mentioned in the last paragraph, I only see partial as in "Stop it!" or just skip it and let it work out. This one had the whole buildup to it. Also, many anime/manga only have the love interest to stop the protagonist from going too far, but hardly if not never the situation is stopping the protagonist from killing himself with the power that's within. Once again, it happens quick in others, much like Forest of Death, only the others have the protagonist at least apologizes and remain focus on the situation, that is forgiving for moment to happen.

Well, to be honest, I want to hear her current status before I can say anything. At this point, it's clear that we need one more time on her status. I think Kishi played a trick on us, if going by translation of the interview, "It seems she still loves Sasuke." Again, I don't know the real 100% translation, but "it seems" sounded fishy.

Thank you for the comment. I'll keep that in mind about tumblr though not like I will go crazy with it. As in "tags: anti-SS, anti-NH" and the worst of all, tagging other pairings when only bring something they will hate. I only share within the same fandom.

 

The one thing I like about 631 is not only the beginning, but the end as well. I never see "go back to the kitchen" part from Naruto, rather being very protective of her. Remember the words he said, he said that helping him recover 100% health probably took a lot of her, so just rest from that. Going there exhausted would be a bad idea, but it's stubborn vs. stubborn. Sakura reassured that she is still ready to go and not only that, but she won't let the chance of cooperation go just because Naruto wanted her to be safe and recover. Let's not forget that Sakura knows Naruto like that to make sure no one gets hurt but him, but she too got that character, so it's like it even it out. That's why I like her side in 573, which is probably why it closed on her. Sure, main character status, but her words reflects a lot to Naruto. So when Sakura tells him that she is ready and she's not going to miss this, Naruto reads her and loved what he saw. Also, Naruto got that one panel of "Oh no" in 632 before Sakura punch the crap out of the clone. Again, he worries too much, so that covers that.

 

This does beg the question on the next scenario. It's nice to know, spoiler as it is, that anime acknowledged Rin's death to be the major point of Obito. I got a feeling that it will get NS treatment: more materials than manga to state the further obvious. That said if the parallel happens, I can see anime going nuts and probably wish to say, "Screw fillers! We need to get to that moment now!" I mean hey, they still have 615 as well, so it's hard to resist for those guys. But seriously, it seems like ObiRin is going to get more shine if they really push it and in a way, even though I know Kishi won't disappoint in parallel, it could be extra special. I guess we have to wait and see how everything goes down.

Okay the bolded: That is filler. Seriously people, stop using filler as evidence. And none of these examples prove Hinata to be the "without a doubt the most developed/interesting female character in the series." They're all things Naruto has (inadvertently) done to encourage her, they're examples of Naruto's effect on Hinata, not what she has done individually as a character. If Hinata were an example of a good independent  female character, I have to say I would be greatly offended. I don't consider females who rely on males for validation to be good characters, and I'm truly not trying to bash, Hinata had so much potential to be more than she is and this position she holds as an overly dependent and almost petty girl who seemly can't exist or be relevant without Naruto, is greatly disappointing to me.

Yeah, it made sense, Thanks for taking the time to explain it.

 

I guess it's a matter of perspective. From my point of view I never got the impression that Sakura wouldn't continue on being a medic. The topic not coming up more often, to me, is just because Kishi focuses more on Naruto and Sasuke. But just because it wasn't a recurring theme it didn't mean it wouldn't happen. Remember that Kishi has a tendency to place certain story elements and then leave them be for a long time only to revive them when he feels they fit the story.

 

And to be technical Sakura wasn't really demanding that Naruto respects her career as a medic, she was demanding that he believed in her strength and ability to fight. Naruto already knew Sakura would make a great medic, but as establish they shouldn't be involved at the center of fights if they don't have the diamond seal. That moment was more to establish that Sakura had achieved a new level of skill that would allow her to fight with him, and Naruto being happy and proud that she had come even further with her abilities.

I know him I have seen some of his vids and his tumblr blog the guy is a pervert.
