A NaruSaku moment is coming.

And people will not be afraid.

They will be very afraid.

It's always the NaruSaku moments that cause the biggest kittens.

Do SasuSaku fans really still care about SasuSaku happening in the actual manga? I mean, I understand why someone would ship it for AU purposes, but with how Sasuke and Sakura's relationship is going... Do they really expect random love to magically bloom, when the circumstances from Part 1 have clearly changed a lot compared to now?

tumblr_inline_miqmooGYSM1qz4rgp.gif

Why do people NOT ship these two? I just don't get it.

Probably cause they hate Sakura. When she's probably the most developed female character in the whole show.

I respect Hinata, but Sakura deserves some too.

I always thought it was NH, seeing as almost every SS development is negative.

Why is it that physical contact works for any pairing except NaruSaku for the fan base? Handing Holding and an simple catch from preventing someone from falling trumps a hug in front of an entire village? These fans...can they really be called fans lol

It's funny really, I saw this SS shipper questioning why are a lot of SS going crazy over Sasuke not letting Sakura fall but didn't really go crazy when he smiled at her when she showed us the seal.

I honestly don't get them. It's like everything Sasuke has ever done to Sakura just disappears, because he apparently was in a "dark place" at the time

Maybe I should say that it's always the NaruSaku moments that cause the most depression. I'm sure when another NaruSaku moment happens at this point of the manga people will get very bitter.

Another thing I've noticed is that a lot of people aren't convinced that Naruto still loves Sakura and only her. People didn't really get the picture when 631 came out but if a serious re-confirmation of his feelings happens again both the NH and SS fandoms will lose a lot of hope in their ship.

Agree with both. NH is the most vocal. If its either NH or SS moment they come in hordes and declare canon. Even if its a NS moment they make more noise than the NS fandom, seem to lose all faith and resort to Naruto bashing, Sakura bashing heck even Kishimoto bashing.

Wonder if 298 will ever be revisited, hell there are so many NS moments it makes me wonder if Kishi will do that weird montage of pictures a character has when they are flashing back.

(Jiraiya figuring out who Pain is, Sasuke "dying" from Haku etc.)

To be honest, I thought about this too... and I kinda correlate it with the forehead kiss. xD

Because the boys who teased her were delusional :P. They couldn't see how beautiful her forehead was/is :P. Now since they are outta picture....even the issue is out of picture :D

More than likely it will be translated like MP and he'll say she's "sort of" his girlfriend. Who knows maybe they'll even have Sakura blush.

The general purpose of this line of argument is to delegitimize critics by targeting them rather than what they say. That if the cannot do so they should sit down and shut up. It rarely has any other purpose. I really want to give you the benefit of the doubt because your posting history has shown you to be very fair minded. However, I struggle to come up with any other reason to invoke such a challenge. It's purpose is usually what I described.

I can see how it might strike you (and perhaps others) that way, Nate, but it was not my purpose in making such a remark.  I want to make this clear:  I'm not targeting anyone or attempting to silence or delegitimize anyone's critical opinion.

I am in fact a consistent proponent of thoughtful critique.  However, it is never far from my mind that opinion and thoughtful critique are not the same thing.  The way I see it, a reader saying "Kishimoto sucks" is an opinion.  A reader explaining why they feel Kishimoto's plot or characterization choices are flawed or don't work for them would be thoughtful critique.

For example, Nate, you are occasionally one of Kishimoto's vocal critics.  But you make the effort to detail why you feel his work has fallen short, and in doing so prove you've actually thought about it beyond your personal reaction, and considered the bigger picture of how a good story is theoretically told.

As you know, you and I have both been vocally critical of his characterization of Obito, and to some degree we agree on Karin (although she bugs you a lot more than she bugs me).  And while I haven't commented about it on the board yet, I agree with you about Kaguya.  In fact, Kaguya's introduction and subsequent characterization (if we can even call it that) leaves me baffled.  She is so wildly out of left field, and her motivations so weak or absent entirely, that I cannot take her seriously. I'm just sort of along for the ride with that part of the story right now.

On the other hand, I would be willing to bet that beneath most of the pedestrian criticism of Kishimoto (i.e., "Kishimoto sucks") lies little more than frustration or impatience.  Readers get irritated / bored / disgusted / disappointed because Kishimoto is not doing exactly what they want when and how they want it, so he sucks.  This is likely to be most true when it comes to the romance stuff.

Of course every reader is entitled to their taste and opinion.  They're entitled to their expectations and to openly state they think he sucks when he doesn't meet them.  But at the same time I feel entitled to consider such flat expressions of opinion as falling rather short of thoughtful critique.

My rhetorical challenge for readers to "do better" than Kishimoto was meant more as an invitation to think through what it means to be a writer in Kishimoto's position.  To reconsider the difficulties and challenges he has faced during his long tenure as the creator of Naruto.  It was meant more as a request for readers to try standing in Kishimoto's writing shoes before judging him as a hack who sucks and has ruined his own story.  In doing so they might discover that he doesn't suck as much as they say.

And I realize I do probably come across as one of Kishimoto's defenders.   :ermm:    I admit I am sensitive to readers bashing authors for what are often unfair or poorly considered reasons.  While I find fault and criticize stuff too, I generally prefer to look at the positive whenever possible -- especially if my opinion could unnecessary spoil the experience of the story for someone else.

Otherwise, what difference does it make whether they can? One need not be a movie maker or television producer to recognize when a movie or show is awful.

This reminds me of an ongoing argument I have with a good friend.  He's a musician and composer who writes sound tracks and effects for local movies and TV programs.  Although I have some background in music (seven years of classical piano training and performance), needless to say my friend knows a lot more about the challenges and complexity of writing music than I do as a player or listener.

Anyway, we're always going round and round about Richard Wagner.  My friend thinks Wagner is the pinnacle of composers and can explain why.  I cannot stand Wagner.  Even his use of Norse mythological elements in his Ring cycle can't save it for me.  I find Wagner's stuff to be loud, obtrusive, overblown, organized noise of grandiose proportion and in a short period of listening time I want to smash my head against the wall until I can no longer hear.   :wallbash:

Who's right?  Me or my friend?  Despite my personal distaste, I would say my friend is right because all I'm offering is a negative opinion, not an intelligent critique of Wagner's work.

I hope this gives my intentions more clarity, and I apologize to anyone who may have been offended by what I've said.

I hope this gives my intentions more clarity, and I apologize to anyone who may have been offended by what I've said.

I never said 'Kishimoto sucks'. I said 'Kishimoto sucks in the romance subplot'. Just because I don't get what I want doesn't mean I'd tag the writer as worst. I was stating my opinion on the recent things which were totally unnecessary after what Kishi had himself said throughout the manga. I did not offer an explanation to my opinion because other users had already done that and the reason they stated were more or less the same as what I felt. What good would I have possibly done repeating the same stuff which the other users said? If you are thinking I hate Kishimoto, then you are wrong. But I take it that it was my responsibility to clearly state what I felt and not some hazy things. And again, if you are thinking that my opinion was 'just' an opinion without any base for it...I must say my friend...you are wrong again. I did not state the reasons because the ones who tagged your post already did it and tagging your post again and saying the same things again would make no difference. If I had a different opinion than them, then I'd have clearly stated so. But since the things that they said was what I felt, I simply quoted your post saying that I was with them. Doesn't mean I don't have a base for my opinion. I am sorry if I came off as rude or arrogant but this was what I felt.

Edit: You said you refrain from bashing and offer to look at the positive side. That was what I did my friend. The situation here was not good when the chapter was released and I did not want to contribute to that. So instead I looked at what good things Kishi did throughout the chapter and remained happy for it. For that last panel though...I felt that it was unnecessary along with some other users and when they stated that, I simply agreed with them because that was what I felt. If I say 'Kishimoto sucks at romance subplot' and not offer an explanation for it doesn't mean I don't have a base for that. It was because the other users stated their opinions which coincided with mine, I did not feel the need to elaborate myself because repeating things would do no good.
