How is the man supposed to confess when at every turn, he's forced to hear some speech about Sakura's feelings? It's not his fault. Naruto busted his ass, and he got walked all over for it.

Bashing Sakura, a ficton character, is not going to help anyone. I could easily argue it is Naruto's fault for not putting his love for Sakura before his obligation and bromance for Sasuke, or Sasuke for making a move on his best friend's love interest. At the end of to he day, the only guy responsible for all of this is Kishimoto. He paired SS up to make an entire NH movie.

I don't know if this is confirmed but apparently, after everything that has happened, Sakura asks Sasuke to take her with him on his journey. She wants to leave her home, her true friends, she wants to leave the guy who has always stuck by her and go with a raving psycho lunatic who has tortured her physically and mentally.

 

How Naruto must have felt when he heard this.... Damn.

I'd say somewhere during the last quarter of part 2, Kishimoto caved in to the mass NH and SS fans. dat money no jutsu

 

Thinking back to previous chapters these past months, trying to put myself in the mind of Kishimoto, and re-evaluating pairing moments, I think I see the big picture he was trying to make.

 

I won't make an analysis of it yet, some more talented people might do that anyway.

Well, Naruto and Hinata go to mourn Neji, which makes a lot of sense. Didn't seem like there was any romance there to be conveyed to the reader. 

 

And then a piqued romantic interest from Sasuke for Sakura comes out of nowhere.
