QUOTE (xxRomanceGirlxx @ Jan 28 2013, 03:10 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
She has the most reasons out of anyone to move on.

The idea of Sakura getting over Sasuke now is rather ridiculously to me, especially considering the fact that Kishi has given her way too many reasons for her to get over him, yet she doesn't. And what I find ridiculous is that some NS fans claim that sakura is still holding on to her crush for Sasuke? What kind of sense does that even make? Her love for Sasuke is as real as Naruto's love for Sakura. Let's recap, shall we?

Two years later and she still loves Sasuke? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After witnessing Sasuke attempt murder on Naruto in 308? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After attempted murder on her life in 308? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After finding out that Sasuke attacked a village and kidnapped someone in 453? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After finding out that Sasuke is in cahoots with the enemy that attacked their village 453? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After finding out in 474 that Sakura is going to kill Sasuke because she loves him and doesn't want to "stand by and watch as he plunges headlong towards evil"? Nope. Just a mere crush.
After finding out that Sasuke wants to destroy Konoha in 483? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After being told to kill his former comrade because he deemed her useless in 483? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After having her life attempted on her a second time while her back is turned in 483? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After witnessing Sasuke's crazy laugh and hearing that he's "been dying to kill Kakashi"? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After us readers view Sakura's painful expression as she cries for her former comrade in 484? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After crying because she couldn't succeed in killing Sasuke in 484? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After having her life attempted on her a third time, but in a more cruel way in 484? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After listening to Sasuke bask in glory for killing someone in 484? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.
After listening to Sasuke claim with excitement that he will kill everyone in Konoha in 484? Nope. Just a mere crush she's holding on.

I mean come on, people. I certainly don't think Sakura, a girl who's been on such an emotional and physical roller-coaster, will still harbor just a mere crush after all she's been through. As a Sakura fan, it disgusts me when ever I read a comment claiming that Sakura is just holding on to a mere crush. And let me state for the record that I despise SS with every fiber of my being. I've presented dozens of reasons why Sakura clearly should move on. Kishi has his hands full in making Sakura truly and completely getting over Sasuke. It better be pretty damn convincing and not some asspull. It better be some monumental realization or something, or else I would be royally pissed off. And no, I'm not saying she should get over Sasuke so she can be with Naruto. I'm saying she should get over Sasuke because I want to see one of my favorite characters be happy and not always an emotional wreck.

I understand the difference between love and infatuation and I even get that the databook's are normally never wrong... but to keep an open mind and to try and understand our rival fandom, I'm just gonna assume Hinata "loves" Naruto

I just find it interesting that the databook which is supposed to be the official source for Naruto has "infatuated" when it comes to Hinata to Naruto. They could have just said "in love with" as well with Sakura and Sasuke part, but they didn't.

That is some puzzling information... though the book came out before her confession (I think, my minds hazy right now)

One reason I can think of is, It's just to early, I don't think he wants to make anything canon until the very end of the series, or at least near the end. We still have some times before this manga is over and making the pairing canon to early could have made some people lose interest in the manga.

I have to say, I agree with you. I know Sakura loves Sasuke, it's clear as day. I will never, ever understand why though. It's true, Sasuke's wasn't 100% terrible during Part 1. But I just don't ... why? Why? What is it about Sasuke that makes her cling so desperately to love that never had a chance in the first place? It can't be because of his sweet and generous nature. In Part 1, he wasn't like that. Is it pity? She wanted to melt the Bad Boy's heart and change him into a better person? He treated her absolutely terribly, much more than the times he was nice to her. Every frickin time I see her crying over Sasuke because she loves him, I wanna scream to her "WHY DO YOU LOVE SASUKE?! WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT HIM? WHY DO YOU LET YOURSELF GO THROUGH THIS SUFFERING?

Was there ever actually a good reason for her love for him? Ever? I really want to know what it is, yet Sakura never properly explained why she loves him. Does she even have a convincing reason at this point? The guy's tried to kill her twice and you still love him? It's almost like Sakura's a masocist sometimes. dry.gif I want to say it's a crush but if it was, Sakura's feelings wouldn't last as long as they have. I can't lie to myself, she fell in love with him. It's been confirmed over and over, there's no point denying it. But Kishi has done such a bad job explaining why it still exists. It's almost like there isn't any logical explaination for it, he's just keeping it alive to milk the pairing wars. Unfortunately, such a strategy dearly damages Sakura's character development as well as giving her more reasons for the hate. That pisses me off. mad.gif

I completely despise SasuSaku and it's IMO ridiculous popularity. I have no idea what people see in that pairing, but to each it's own I guess. I personally think Sakura's feelings for Sasuke isn't as strong as it once was through her relationship with Naruto and her feelings for him throughout Part 2. That's how she'll eventually realize she loves him or has feelings for him, through a life-or-death situation. But still ... there is no excuse for her still loving him after all of this. He's selfish, he never truly respected her as much as he should, he completely brushed her off most of the time yet she somehow still loves him. Her feelings make the least sense out of the Big 3. Naruto's I could understand and see completely, he's spent a lot of time with her and he understands her. He sees her flaws and good traits, but accepts her. His love for her makes complete sense. Hinata's feelings less so, but at least she has a reason. He inspired her to change and made her into a different person. She doesn't truly know him, but her love has some sensical basis.

Kishimoto has no logical reason at all for SasuSaku not being dead in the ground already. The only one I could see has nothing to do with Sakura, just making money and keeping suspense. I can't stress enough how much that disappoints me, her love for him does way too much damage. facepalm.png

I'd like to think it's only the NaruHina fans that would drop the manga if NaruSaku became 100% canon. I know I'd still read it even if NaruHina become 100% canon, I wouldn't like that part, but I'd still read to see how the story ends

Of course I would still read it, it would however affect weather or not I buy the whole manga when it is finished though, also there would be people from all fandoms who would quit, each fandom has its extremists.

I think we should be thankful she doesn't have a convincing reason. The fact that she doesn't is what will make it possible for her to eventually realize that her feelings for Sasuke really aren't what she has always believed them to be.

QUOTE (xxRomanceGirlxx @ Jan 28 2013, 06:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
He's selfish, he never truly respected her as much as he should, he completely brushed her off most of the time yet she somehow still loves him.

The only thing I would add -- besides what you said about Kishimoto contriving SS for plot purposes -- is that Naruto's love for Sasuke is similar. He is totally devoted to Sasuke too, and the same questions apply. WHY? WHAT HAS SASUKE DONE FOR YOU LATELY? Naruto's relentless devotion to Sasuke has enabled Sakura to continue to view Sasuke as worthwhile -- elevating him far beyond what many readers can stomach appreciate. argh1.png

The amount of love, devotion, loyalty, and energy Sasuke has managed to inspire in both his teammates -- while offering very little or nothing in return -- is seriously enough to drive a person to drink. I really can't stand the guy, and I can't stand the fact that both Naruto and Sakura have thrown away an enormous amount of affection on him. Affection that they could have, you know, GIVEN EACH OTHER.

But they have both sacrificed their personal happiness on the altar of Sasuke's indifference. It doesn't make much any sense in the Real World, but it is apparently supposed to make sense in the Narutoverse. Kishimoto has been extremely consistent with the unconditional Sasuke love and acceptance.

Also, there's what Kishimoto said in the infamous interview after Sakura's confession -- something about writing her as "an honest girl with a surprisingly stubborn impression." Stubborn impression -- if he was referring to her feelings for Sasuke -- is putting it mildly.

Finally, as to the question of being in love as opposed to a crush... I think some people, perhaps incorrectly, use the term "crush" to describe Sakura's belief that she is actually in love with Sasuke when it's really just a mistaken impression. I think "crush" gets used to describe feelings of affection that can change, whereas true love is thought to be something that lasts forever.

Yes, Sakura feels and believes she is in love with Sasuke, and at the moment I think readers are supposed to accept that she is. Nevertheless, I still maintain that Sakura's understanding of what love actually means, and what a true, reciprocated love feels like, is going to change in favor of Naruto. Because he's the changer of all misimpressions, and the one who truly loves her.

And look how long that's actually taking for her to reach that point. Her love for Sasuke is comparable to that of a dog who just won't let go of that bone for some reason. Kishi won't make a pair canon until the end, like a lot of people expect. So that would mean she will get over Sasuke near the end, right?

Not exactly. Kishi can make her give up on Sasuke right now, the pairing war would not be over. There is still one more question. Will Naruto decide he loves Hianta now more than Sakura? The simple answer would be no, but there is always that 1% chance, right?

You and I both know that's not going to happen anytime soon. As much as Kishi loves pulling the string for each pair in this series. This man won't come to a conclusion until near the end, unless of course he wants to lose a lot of his fans. Sad but true.

Well, in my head canon I believe something happened between them when they were younger that caused Sakura to love and become so attached to Sasuke. I hope Kishimoto will show us more of their pre-genin days.

And think about it, Sasuke wasn't that bad of a guy until about the Kage Summit arc, which was probably only about a week or two ago in their time. It's not that crazy to believe that Sakura is still getting over Sasuke.

I actually can't fathom how SasuSaku is still popular, or is even liked. Is it because of the side-shipping with NaruHina?

I just...

why.
