I feel like sometimes Im the only one on this forum that likes Obito's character entirely. I always felt that among the villains, Obito's pain was the most palpable pain, I actually felt for him. The chapter where Rin died, I kinda cringed as he flew off the handle, and I also cringed when Madara told him he was responsible for Rins death, I just felt bad for the guy. I think Obito was the best villian...

I liked Obito as a villain aswell but his redemption was a mess though. Especially the "cool guy" remark from Naruto. That pissed off a lot of people.

Sadly its Kishi's fault, he is the one who didn't want Narutoand Sakura together. It seemed like he was setting up Sakura to have a moment of reflection and clarity after she awoke, and have her get over Sasuke and realize who was more important to her (Naruto) but in the end Kishi didn't want it that way and wanted her to keep loving Sasuke. So yeah Naruto had no choice, being the guy he is and preferring her happiness over his, to accept it and move on by opening his heart and allowing himself to fall in love with Hinata. Although I can see why Naruto opening his heart to another girl would seem OOC because throughout the whole series he has shown to only keep romantic feelings toward Sakura despite everything and to have him act differently towards Sakura would not seem like the Naruto we know.

It was following gusty ninja up to that point. Naruto was named after that book. His life was supposed to follow it.

Imagine if in the movie, they do a complete 180 and it DOES end up with narusaku and then they give out the special chapter after the screening which is the actual epilogue.

Probably one of the things that NS did not become canon comparing  OBiRin, is that Rin and Obito were closer friends.

It goes to show this ending wasn't so far fetched in Kishi's mind, because Naruto quickly forgave Obito for everything

Preach to the choir. Naruto Started losing its value when everyone had a sob story and everyone could be forgiven. It lost any drive it had when it started hammering us with its moral lesson of "violence is bad!" while being all about violence.

Good point, they were already close since the beginning. Actually, NS and ObiRin aren't all that similar.

 

I'm afraid the parallels we were seeing was Kishi being unoriginal in his character relationships. Well, except for Sakura being like Kushina, I don't know what the point of making that comparison was. Was he trying to say that Sakura was like a mother to Naruto?

Wasn't there supposed to be a special chapter dedicated to RtN released around the same time as the 4th Databook? Whatever became of it?

Quite honestly, I like to imagine an "Angel" character appear to walk over and ready to reset the world. Naruto gives one final speech of never giving up and never lose the memories he has cherished from his journey. If he does lose some if not all, it wouldn't matter so much because he made that and if there's one that knows it, it will forever exist. Sakura cries for the world to reset and it fades to white. The story begins with Sasuke is about to wander.

That movie chapter has me looking very curiously towards RtN and its impact on the overarching plot. Could there be something more to the setup and relationships in that content that we should know about?

I didn't mind the comment. Obito was a multifaceted character. The Obito he complimented wasn't the same one that had killed all those people, so to speak. Naruto was acknowledging the Obito that was willing to admit his failures and work to redeem himself, which ended up saving both Naruto and Sasuke, as well as sacrifice himself to save Naruto. I thought he was well redeemed, better than any other villain.
