Looks like Hinata will not have a major role in the movie. She will just wait while the others will fight.

Exactly how I feel. She hasn't shown anything beyond her crush on Naruto, so much so that doing something like leading her clan and not saying or thinking "naruto-kun" every time she makes an appearance seems out of character to me. 
 
Maybe at the end of the manga she'll decide that it's time for her to stop chasing Naruto and become into someone who can take on the role of a clan leader.

Mentality isn't the only shortcoming that Hinata suffers from. Her lack of self-confidence has always been a glaring weakness in her ability to train. It was the original reason for Hiashi shunning his eldest daughter for the younger sibling who shows greater promise and determination. If you look at Hinata's competence strictly in terms of combat prowess, you'll realise that she hasn't come too far, in spite of what fans might argue to the contrary, and let's not forget the possibility that she might be relegating her role to that of just a lovestruck observer in this movie.

Frankly, I'll be shocked if this adult version of her has reached any level higher than SRA Neji.

Well it will not really be fight since the problem is the moon but IMO Hinata will not go participate she will just wait.

Hinata, being worried, gives to Naruto a red scarf, their "red string of the scarf". She wishes Naruto good luck since she will stay at home for praying that everything goes well and Naruto saves the world. Then Naruto replies to her "I gotta something to tell you... Wait for me!"
Naruto defeats the enemy with his friends and the scarf around his neck, for reminding him that the loving Hinata is waiting for him.
Naruto returns to the village and then says "I love you" to Hinata and together they put the red scarf of their destiny to their necks.

Isn't beautiful, guys? It's not so obvious like the most of love stories.

Just wondering. There was a quote from Naruto that was leaked that read "Wait for me.", and then there's Hinata's apparent pose with her hands clasped like she's praying for a safe return. Is that an intentional thing by SP, could the two things be related? Or am I just looking into it too much?
