Hello I'm new to this thread but I've been lurking on this place before. I love NaruSaku a lot. It's obvious Sakura loves Naruto but she just doesn't know it yet . I can't wait until Sakura confesses to Naruto again but these lack of NaruSaku moments are getting to me. It's been a while and its killing me that Sakura and Naruto haven't been interacting lately. I'm getting really impatient.
Also I was debating with a NaruHina fan recently had that brought up something. I'm surprised no one has brought this up yet. That chapter(Don't remember which.) where Hinata said "This war is to protect Naruto!" she had a panel where she saw Naruto's face and the NH fan said that she had a flashback of where they talked about the confession and that Naruto returned her feelings. Seems kind far-fetched to me , especially because of their recent interactions that was OBVIOUSLY one-sided but I thought I should bring it up. There is also this thought that's been bugging me about Sakura's confession. Its been stated before on this website that Sakura doesn't understand her feelings for Naruto so would that make her confession to him a COMPLETE lie?
They've been throwing that card since that chapter came out. No. If Hinata and Naruto did have a conversation, then they would of had a moment shown. Seriously, I know I've said this before, but imo, it couldn't be more true: When Naruto saved her and Sakura (Oh come on, that can't just be a concidence.) in ''Kabutos trump card"he would of said something other than what he said. Like, "We'll talk later." or "I'll see you after this war is over." or something along the lines of that to give us an indication that they talked, or "Remember our conversation?" with a sly smirk, or something. You know, the famous naruto grin. But he did give that famous uzumaki grin to Sakura. Anyway that's not my point. My point is that, Hinata looks at Naruto like a hero too, and what do we all want from our heroes? Feedback. Naruto gave her feedback, that's why she said 'thank you.' in that same chapter where he saved her. Although it seriously wasn't just a concidence that BOTH Sakura and Naruto needed saving. Sakura can handle her own, Hinata on the other hand... can't. I really think that it was put in there to show that it's NOT just Hinata getting a moment, and to balance out the wars that'd be starting in that chapter.
About her confession, no, she wasn't lying fully. She was telling the truth: she does have romantic interests in him, but the lie was that she's not fully over Sasuke. She said she was and that she didn't care about him anymore. THAT's what got Naruto angry that chapter. Not that she "lied" to him about a confession, but because she said she didn't care about Sasuke anymore. ex: Naruto worked his ass off and now all of a sudden she tracks him down to say that. BUT, no, her confession wasn't all a lie. She does love him. Falling for him, if you will. It's been developing since the Zabuza arc where she questioned her feelings for Naruto with a: "Naruto... what is this feeling?" blushing while he faught off Zabuza.
Till then, things have just grown. Check this out, it's from the most recent databook and very reliable to see what her feelings are. Nothing is edited.

Oh and welcome to H&E
See that's what I thought too. If they talked about the confession, then the scene would have been more of a moment. Like what you said, he would have said "We'll talk later" but he didn't. That scene was more of a "Naruto being Naruto" scene. He was encouraging her because he noticed her lack of confidence and wanted to make her feel better. It wasn't romantic at all. You are right Fenris. Sakura does love Naruto and the only real lie was not caring about Sasuke anymore. Anyone who understands Sakura could tell she was lying about that. I'm actually surprised she even tried lying about that really. Naruto's reaction was understandable. I mean she confessed out of no where in front of people. Naruto also always thought she would only love Sasuke so of course he would act like that. So many NH fans and Sakura bashers say "SAKURA IS MANIPULATIVE b*tch!!!! SHE USED NARUTO'S FEELINGS IN THAT CONFESSION! SHE DOESN'T DESERVE HIM! . It's like they don't acknowledge that she was trying to make things better and protect him. How is that selfish?
Hinata has been disappointing me lately. I thought she changed after her confession but she still seems like the same unconfident, shy girl she's always been and hasn't moved on from Naruto. Is is just me or has been portrayed in a selfish light lately? I brought that up and a NH fan attacked me when I was just making an observation. Apparently she's a "perfect, badass angel with no faults." I don't hate her but she's so...overrated. I don't hate NH either but NaruSaku is so much better and more likely in my opinion. It just frustrates me how popular Hinata is. It's ridiculous.
There is a reason Sakura is one of my favorite characters. She's strong, determined, kind, and is more than just pairing fodder(e.g. Hinata). She's really misunderstood and it makes me angry that so many people insult her. She's not 12 anymore. I also find it annoying how some NaruHina fans see every intereaction between Naruto as a "moment". They are all one-sided. Some even deny that Naruto loves Sakura. 'It's a crush" they say. Sometimes those fans piss me off, sometimes they make me laugh. That Databook basically proves Sakura's feelings for Naruto. I brought that up at the Narutopedia wiki but no one listened. They said that they follow the current manga that shows Sakura doesn't love Naruto(Chapter 540) and that the Third Databook is outdated. I eventually gave up because they all said I was delusional. Thank You for welcoming me Fenris.

I agree. Hinata also has been disappointing me lately too. And do you too agree that it's odd Kishi is showing Hinata is this way? (Good of course for us, though.) with Sakura talking positively about Naruto and working as a team, rather than just BEING with him and ONLY him. She not only said "we'll be together - not just me," but referred to everyone as a whole. This reminds me of when Sakura and Hinata were on the sidelines at the Chunin exams, Hinata doubted Naruto while Sakura was "Hell yeah! atta' boy Naruto." Again at the fight scene in Shippuden where again both Sakura and Hinata were present, and Hinata doubted Naruto PUBLICLY, and Sakura said: "It's gonna take more than that to stop Naruto." confidently. I think he's really trying to make a statement on who has more faith in him.
And about the "She was trying to protect him" thing, I agree so much. It's cool that not only did she confess, but she did it to PROTECT him, and if that's not love, I don't know what is. She not only did what she had to do because she felt it'd put him out of danger, but she also said she loved him
For those who say the Third databook is outdated, if it's "outdated" Kishi would have to make a new databook every week of a new chapter release, right? The databooks are put in a sufficient amount of information to cover everything that's needed to be covered until the next release of the fourth databooks, and so on. They should know this. While Sakura got a long 5 + pages, Hinata got one. I think what that shows is self-explanatory.
In the long run, guys, Sakura's seen first hand just how strong of a shinobi Naruto is as well as knowing what he's capable of doing while Hinata's only witnessed Naruto's determination even without realizing that he is stronger than she thinks. It's mostly due to seeing Naruto from afar, not up close since she hasn't been on the same team as him. Part of her helping him with Pain was ue to her feelings, yes, but Hinata also did it because she didn't believe in Naruto and was the only one to really see the action since everyone else stayed aside when Katsuyu told them what Naruto wanted.
And as you can guess, Sakura's hug and thanks to Naruto are threefold; gratitude, concern, and joy. Given Naruto'd been really reckless yet Sakura was glad he was able to save everyone as well as showing how concerned she was for him even if she knew he'd come out on top.
That's the one thing I think in the end most NaruHina fans don't see is that even if Hinata loves Naruto too, she doesn't KNOW him well enough to see how strong he really is and how well he can handle himself, while Sakura's gotten to see how strong the real Naruto is; possibly being even stronger than Sasuke is.

Anyway. I guess I'll go ahead and say I'm also quite disappointed at Hinata's character development since her confession. I honestly thought that by the time K11 voted on personally stopping Sasuke, Hinata had already moved on from Naruto and started seeing him as no more than a comrade, a person to look up to [which is, IMO, what she's been doing from the beginning, mistaking it for love later on] and a good friend [which also doesn't make sense, how many times have they talked in almost 580 chapters?]. Naruto stated that only he would be the one to deal with Sasuke and no one else. If Hinata was supposedly still in love with Naruto, she would have shown some form of support in his decision. What did she really do? She just stood there and didn't say a thing. To me, it actually seemed like she was in favour of stopping Sasuke along with the rest of K11. You don't oppose the opinion of someone you love right?
And just a few chapters ago, all of a sudden she wants to be by Naruto's side holding his hand? And not thinking of anyone else? That's a huge let down in her development. However that's not to say that she hasn't had any character development at all; she has, like for example, since the confession she's become heaps more confident in her abilities as a kunoichi and as a person in general, because she managed to let go what was holding her down and keeping her grounded. But in terms of her love for Naruto she's pretty much gone back to square one. Minus the constant stuttering of course.
It's really a shame, because to be honest I've actually grown to like her a little more.

This, this so much. She barely knows him. It's like celebrities in a way, we know them from what we see, (Hinata's stalking and stuff.) and watching from afar, but do we really know the real them? No, we don't. We may think we do... but really, we don't. XD

I just had this thought. For me, it just feels like the one thing that should matter above anything else is the whole "who would you rely your life on one person more than anyone else"? As in, in a situation, who would Naruto trust his life more than anyone other than himself? Hinata or Sakura? The answer is quite obvious and the same question would apply to Sakura. Who would she trust her life with?
I believe that something like this overweight the majority of the argument of what makes a pairing canon, except maybe interaction and dynamics of the pairing.

You're completely right. No matter how much research you do on a celebrity, like when they began their career, what hospital they were born in, their birth name if they go by a stage name, [insert random stalker action here] etc what that doesn't change is how much you know them in person. What their true personality is, how they really communicate with others, their real views on other things, their strengths, weaknesses, all that stuff actually matters.
So really "he deserves her" or "she deserves him" or whatever just doesn't do justice anymore. Last time I checked, a relationship needs to have mutual development between the two individuals.

You know, that's actually a pretty good point. One thing is for sure; Naruto and Sakura definitely have a lot of trust in each other to some extent, but I never thought about how deep that really is.

Thanks, Fenris. We've seen how Naruto cares for Hinata as his friend, given he helped her get her confidence back when his Shadow Clones came to help everyone. But you can tell when he arrives to Sakura and Shizune, when he says Sakura doesn't look hurt, you can tell from his grin he knew Sakura'd be alright given he knows, and has known since the beginning, how strong Sakura really is.

It's pretty tasteless, made from fish that don't have much taste to start with. If you have an authentic Japanese restaurant in your town that makes ramen you might be able to taste it. The paste it's made from is called kamaboko.
Here's an Americanized (using fish available in the US) recipe for the fried version of fishcakes called Satsuma-age (which has more of a taste to it due to the other ingredients.)
My opinion of Hinata is that she at one point had potential. She could have become a great character with the proper development. Kishimoto could have made her stronger(Like not lose in every fight she is in Part 2 for example.), actually set a goal at become a heiress that she deserves to get, and finally get over her hopeless love for Naruto. I brought that up to a NaruHina fan and they said "Why should Hinata give up on Naruto?! He is positive source for her and she deserves him! I really don't know how to answer that one. Why should Hinata give up on Naruto???
I truly believe that Kishi intended to have Hinata move on from Naruto after Sakura's hug. But then he remembered that the NaruHina fans would be upset and he would lose fans, so he let her still love him. My conclusion is that he is destroying Hinata's character development for the sake of money. That would explain it and if that is truly the case, I am disappointed in Kishi. Hinata lovers(blind ones) state that she is the most unselflish person ever. She is not. Naruto is the most selfless person in the series. Hinata is possibly more selfish than Sakura, for I think she has gotten less selfish over the course of the series. Why is Hinata so confident that she can be with Naruto??? Did he mislead or something? I think it's obvious that Naruto doesn't have romantic feelings for Hinata. I guess she got the wrong impression or something.
Back on Sakura's confession, the NaruHina fan I was debating with said that Sakura was treating Naruto like child during her confession, since she wasn't trying to be honest with him. I said that Sakura was trying to protect Naruto from the Sasuke Elimanation misson they were on, because she knew how he would react and didn't want him to go through that. Then he said she loved Sasuke, not Naruto. I said what proof do you have of that? They ignored me. Is anyone else her believe how illogical NaruHina and SasuSaku are? Sakura's love never made sense: It only seemed like a crush to me. Hinata's love doesn't make sense because she doesn't know him enough or understand him enough to love him. Get this. NH fan: "Don't you EVER insult Hinata! She is perfect, beautiful, badass kunoichi who is the sweetest person ever. She NEVER hated Naruto OR belittled him like Sakura does. Hinata truly understands him more than anyone, especially Sakura. Me: ....
The rest of you are right. Hinata's lack of faith in Naruto as a ninja is very annoying(What's with the 'I'll hold your hand.'? You doubt him that much Hinata? He's not a child.). But in her defense, she doesn't know him very well so of course she would worry too easily. Sakura can read him like a book and has complete faith in him and faith is important in a relationship. Really I can't see anyone more suited for Naruto than Sakura. They have mutual developemnt, trust, and the love needed. That's why NaruSaku will happen.
Though I am annoyed with the fact that Sakura is the only member of Team 7 that doesn't know the truth about Itachi She has a right to know just as much as them.

Exactly Kishi is destroying Hinata's character development by using her as pairing fodder to keep the NH fandom reading his manga. I agreed with you when he intended Hinata to move on from Naruto after her confession because it doesn't make any sense that she smiles happily after watching such an intimate hug between him and Sakura and all of the sudden she's back to her part 1 self liking Naruto again. The only way to keep those fans from continuing reading his manga is that he keeps this up until the end so he can finally throw Hinata off the window and finally reveal the true canon pairing.

Well I'm not really that surprised. C'mon guys, we should;ve seen something like this coming ever since Kishi got bashmail from the NH fabase. I don't know what in the hell they were thinking sending Kishi bash mail. Did they honestly think that would help? It might help the NS fans by killing off Hinata or having Naruto kiss Sakura righ in front of Hinata. And if Kishi based Sakura off his wife then that just levels NH on the spot. No other way of putting it.
In terms of character development, Hinata is the character I feel the most pity for. I really loved her, and I probably still do.
She, as a hard-working unfortunate girl had a potential to become so much more. Unlike Sakura in part one, who kept chasing Sasuke and neglecting her responsibilities to become stronger. At least, Hinata used her feelings for Naruto to motivate her into becoming stronger.
But now? While all the other characters have something that shine what does she have? Everything about her is so half-assed. Her feelings for Naruto, romantic as it is, lacks trust and she barely knows him. Also, unlike part 1 her focus is not to be strong and be like him, but to be with him. (Going backwards and becoming like part 1 Sakura) Her non-genius but hard-worker theme has been replaced with a role as a pairing fodder. Her ninja abilities seems only like a weaker version compared to Neji. Since, Neji is a genius it may not be fair but then again she could've used that to work harder. Instead of making Neji her rival, he is now more like her protector. Her role as a clan heir doesn't look bright when there were many instances showing her lack of leadership skills.
But the most annoying thing of all is how Kishi handled her development! Normally, when characters get development they reach a certain phase of self-doubting, but then the character fights against their own self-doubt, wins against it and thus receiving development.
Now lets see Hinata.... Yes, she did have a phase of self-doubt during the war. When she was nearly beaten by Zetsu, Naruto saved her and then she was like, "I can't do anything..." Then Naruto said, "You're strong." And as if she never doubted herself she became all confident to the point thinking that she is going to hold hands with Naruto and walk next to him. (Whether Naruto really wanted to do that with her was never important anyways.) Seriously? She got her development because Naruto said so? One phrase from Naruto? She didn't fight for it at all! What was her character for?
If Naruto doesn't love her back, then what is left of her character?
Yes agreed. Compare to other characters development moments in the manga like Shikamaru, his resolve to protect the next generation thanks to Asuma and through his death he finally made his choice after defeating Hidan. Chouji when he fought Edo Tensei Asuma, Kiba when he fought Sakon of the sound four, Sakura when she fought the sound ninjas at the forest of death to protect both Naruto and Sasuke and most importantly putting Naruto in the same level of caring as the Uchiha. Lee when he fought Gaara, Gaara when he was beaten by Naruto (this one got a huge amount of development comparing to how he used to be in part 1). Compare to all those moments Hinata's character development is nothing but a joke it's like Kishi doesn't care about her at all. I have mentioned this before but this started happening since that Jump Festa interview when Kishi got those NH fan letters bashing Sakura saying that Hinata was a better heroine than her. I think Kishi was annoyed and that's probably the reason why he hasn't been trying hard on her character development, or as I mentioned he doesn't care anymore.
