THEORY TIME:

 

It's probably not really related, but two years ago when this movie started production, they had just shut down the FFXIV 1.0 servers.  For months, players of the game had seen a blood red moon suddenly start approaching the planet (sound familiar?) and the only thing that we knew was that someone from the enemy empire (the Garleans) was potentially behind it.  We thought that it was just going to crash into our continent, but the actual thing turned out to be WAY MORE kittening BADASS than that.

I bring this up for two points.

 

1. Possible plot inspiration.  The "moon falls toward the Earth" trope has been used before but the timing is about right for this to have been a thing right when they were planning the movie script.

 

2. Possible "shock factor" inspiration:  Square Enix received accolades from many other game companies and media companies for doing such a good job at keeping the true nature of the moon Dalamud a secret until the servers shut down.  I played 1.0 til 2AM that night and WE HAD NO IDEA IT WAS BAHAMUT.  I cannot emphasize this enough: Not one person outside of the dev team had any idea of the true nature of the game end.  All the official releases about the game end never referred to it, and none of the "spoilers" ever turned out to be true.  

 

Worst thing was we had to chew on our fingernails for another year before the game was rereleased.  (I was in alpha testing at least so I only had to wait two months.)

 

So, what does this mean?

 

The moon in Naruto is almost always used to indicate things are not what they seem.  It's possible that the moon never even started falling; that was a genjutsu in itself.

 

More importantly, I would not be surprised if the Naruto animation team wanted to see if they could pull off what SE did, and stick a major plot element right under the viewer's noses  until release day.

I was on jemma-olmeda's tumblr and all the stuff she said....this movie can't be NH after NH after NH, woah. It sounds really bad then if that's the case. Even for neutral fans. Do you believe what she's saying?

 

What she said

1. After the battle in the moon , they jump up together hand in hand to leave there and they kiss against a background of the moon.
2. Sasuke appears just for 10 or 20 seconds.

   We don’t see why he didn’t attend to the wedding.

3. The flashbacks are that Hinata gave Naruto a　package of ointment in Chunin exam, she tried to save him when he was battling with Pain, and she wrote his name when she was asked by her teacher Iruka to write the name of whom she wanted to be with in the end of the world (this scene isn’t in the manga).

4. Before the movie he’s unconscious of his own feeling or even Hinata’s.

   During the movie he first discerns that she has romantic feeling toward him thanks to flashbacks.

   Then during the mission he acknowledges that he also loves her.

   There aren’t any special happenings during the mission. He just thinks about his past memories and her knitting scarfs for him and realizes what love is.

   Maybe he already fell in love with her before the movie.

5. Hinata was bullied by some children. Naruto wasn’t yelling at her but at other children in order to let them stop bullying her.

6. You can enjoy if you like Naruhina.

   But we can hardly find other scenes except for NH love romance.

   We can’t expect scenes such as Sasusaku, battle of team 7, cooperation of Naruto and Sasuke, important role of Kakashi or Gaara…

   They don’t show how people change or live  after the war.

   Even the enemy, Toneri seems to appear just because NH can be canon.

   The story about enemy is a little poor and irresponsible.

7. Toneri uses genjuttsu to Naruto and Naruto　dreams of memories with Hinata.

8. Unfortunately there is no Sasusaku scene. Sasuke appears only when he guards enemy’s attack, just for 10 or 20 seconds.

9. I saw the LAST.

   It was totally naruhina.

   just naruhina, only naruhina…

 

I could have sworn in Junko's interview she talked about the love of comrades, for fathers (Ino, Shikamaru) and Toneri's type of love. What kind of bullsh** is this? This isn't Naruto - The Last, it's Naruhina: The Asspull. According to her, the movie was nothing but Naruhina. What about all the stuff Junko talked about? All the character growth Kakashi's VA mentioned? I mean if this movie is completely NH and we don't see the rookies at all in this movie, why did he say that about the characters? We won't even see them grow at all if they get no screentime. There was that scene of Sasuke in the trailer, that counts as a scene too while he's watching the attack happen to the village. I doubt Sasuke, the rookies and Kakashi got so little screentime in this movie that they were forgotten. I'm not calling her a liar, but how does this happen when the VA's say something else that hints promise in this movie?

If all this turns out to be true, I'll die laughing. It'll be soo funny, the asspulls are too much..

WOAH..... mindblown!  I'd be shocked as hell if that happened! Holy kitten, would that explain why Kishi is just blurting all this stuff out about the movie? and the really strange marketing?

I'm just baffled at how enigmatic everything is when it comes to the early screenings. Why is nothing about it reported on animenewsnetwork. com or sayainisland.com? Shouldn't they mention how many times the movie was aired and how long it was?

How can we not get one confirmed and LEGIT source?
