If we go by what Kishimoto's assistant was saying... it seems like Kishimoto intended to make NH canon somewhere around the end of the Pain arc. SS came as an afterthought (as the assistant was unsure they would be together). He also said Sakura wasn't heroine-like... echoing exactly what the interviewer told Kishimoto a while back.

 

I guess those anti-Sakura comments really got to Kishimoto.

 

This gives me the feeling that he changed his mind because Sakura was bashed. That would be very awful.

Come on guys, if this is made from studio Pierrot do you honestly think Sakura is going to get a badass role? She's probably just going to support Hinata by breaking 5cm stones while princess Hinata is going to destroy cities and countries with her golden byakugan. They must degrade Sakura in order to make Hinata look better and heroine like.

In the anime Hinata was capable of medic ninjutsu. In the movie, she'll probably be capable of slug sage mode
