Good point. Still, that hidden gem is something that shouldn't be skipped. You know how many times I have encountered people not realizing what would they be missing and so on. Japan took that chance and they got that gem. Everyone else have to challenge themselves. I took it and I was like Jesus Christ ressurrcted.
You know, I always hear that the main problem/skepticism people have for Gintama is that they don't want to start a series that is mostly comedic (example provided below). I understand that completely. I'm assuming people do not want to feel like they are wasting their time when they could watch a series that is actively moving forward in plot (Not that Gintama doesn't but you get what I mean).
The only thing I can say about that is: Gintama's comedy is gold. It is so unique and shameless that that show can thrive on it successfully. I don't feel like I am wasting my time or feel the need to rush to the next serious arcs at all. A comedy episode with Gintama is sufficient for me enough and provides great entertainment for me. I watch Gintama to have something different in my list of animes that are mostly serious.
I'm into comedy, and I do want to start the anime for Gintama. Honestly though, I like a little bit more seriousness in the stuff I'm into, and from most of the things I've seen from Gintama, it's a whole lot of humor.
It is. But then again, it is good humor.
Seriousness is (initially) not Gintama's thing. It's popular b/c it's so different from the other shounens.
Or just skip anime episodes XD (not recommended, lol).
