What strikes me about this Viz translation of Sakura's thoughts is how, in a few words, she completely answers what Sai and Shikamaru said to her in 458-459.

This version seems to make it even perfectly clear that Sakura is entirely focused on Naruto, Naruto's will, and on doing whatever she can for him -- HIM -- not Sasuke. It's about Naruto, for Naruto. It's exactly what she ought to be thinking, and what Naruto needs most at this point.

Only thing is, mangareaders translation seems to be more heartfelt when she says "We'll be together this time, and not just me, all of us" etc.

I know, and I don't disagree. But I can't help but think that Sakura's big heartfelt moments are ahead -- when they can be unrestricted, uninterrupted, and undoubted -- and they will be worth the torture we've enduring waiting to hear them. ^__^

As a NaruSaku fan, Hinata repeating she loves Naruto, is much better than Sakura doing the same and nothing else.
(I wouldn't ship it if that were the case)

I'd rather have Hinata show up every once in a while, rather than it be Sakura doing nothing.
As a NaruSaku fan, Hinata repeating she loves Naruto, is much better than Sakura doing the same and nothing else.

I agree, Sakura fighting in this war has been long overdue. The only action we have seen her do so far is punch a Zetsu. She should at least do one cool feat in the incoming fight in front of Naruto and him thinking something among the lines of "As expected from the woman I love. Sakura-chan is amazing".

Whenever Naruto sees Sakura do something awesome, he always cheers her up saying how amazing she is, doesn't he?

I was wondering why Kishi made her have an axe in all those cover pages? I mean her punch can bring a lot of damage as it is. Why does she need an axe? Is there an opponent her fist cannot bring damage to, but an axe can? If it's Zabuza, I understand. It's hard to fight a swordsman with a fist. But that fight was done long ago.

And what about her genjutsu? It's been overshadowed a lot of times. I'd want to punch Kishi with all my might if those overshadowing were for nothing. So I'm thinking along the lines of she'll fight an opponent who she has to use a genjutsu and an axe. Any predictions?

Then there are at least four times Sakura was told she is good at genjutsu. Three times from Kakashi, during the part 1, part 2 bell test, sand sound invasion. One time from Sasuke, before the start of the Chuunin Exam.

ciardha, do you mind linking the page to where Sai says Sakura's in love with Naruto in chapter 474? I've read it as well, and, at least on all the manga sites I'm looking at it from, he says nothing of the sort.

Oh and I happen to have lucked into that issue at a Japanese bookstore that was closing in 2009 and this sleepyfans translation version is indeed more accurate on this page.

It's right there on the page- "By giving up on Sasuke and confessing her love for you" (ie she's known for a while she's in love with Naruto and Sai's words in 458 made her actions urgent, she had to confess her love to end Naruto's pain and let her know he didn't have to hold back his feelings for her in some grossly mistaken belief that she still was head over heels crushing on Sasuke. Plus Shikamaru's words prompted her into taking on the responsibility of killing Sasuke to protect Naruto and the whole ninja world.)

If you think about it too, this version is the one that actually makes sense with Naruto's words and actions when he rescues Sakura from Sasuke and his mental image of her in chapter 505 page 2.

If you want to stay in denial that's fine, but it's been spelled out in the manga by Sakura herself, Sai, and eventually Naruto's mental image of Sakura. (plus Kishimoto himself outright said she was telling the truth about being in love with Naruto.) Again, if you want to stay in denial so it's easier for you to bash Sakura that's your choice, but it's not what is in the manga.

little naruto rasenganed the heck outta kabuto and your saying sakura cant defeat him cause he got a little orochimaru power-up?

as far as i'm concerned he can control a few snakes and some zombies(and he can heal so can sakura).

sakura could totally grand-slam kabuto. its NOT gonna be easy for her.

but i think its a great battle for her to struggle and get back up and try everything shes got to win.

plus shes a heroine kabuto is just a villain waiting to get eliminated perfect match

Sakura did make a statement like that back when she was twelve she say Sasuke will be hers, but with Hinata is just feel uneasy because thats her only purpose in this Manga and it's hard to ignore it... The fact that Hinata only loving Naruto and always showing more romantic feelings for Naruto is kind of disturbing and troubling.

Sakura as a main character not getting any fights at all in a freaking war is blasphemy. Kabuto needs a fight and most likely its going to be Itachi. But Kishi really needs to give his main female character justice.

That was definitely cool.

By the way, I don't think that Naruto needs to respond to Hinata. If he did, he would of did it at the whole chapter when they "talked" that time. Plus, it's not like he said "we'll talk after all this mess is over with" or something that. Then i'd be concerned.

Lets hope he does. Maybe in the upcoming fight she'll get some action.

Remember Hinata is a side character with no importance to the plot of the story or to Naruto's development. Naruto has know reason to fall in love with Hinata, because they never had a decent conversation at all in part 2. Kishi had a big opportunity to do it, when Naruto and Hinata were teamed up to look for Itachi, and nothing happen between them. Kishi can't not pull a 180 like that, with no development on Naruto's feelings and make NaruHina canon, it will make him a horrible writer. Naruto never even acknowledge if Hinata was pretty, but he did for Sakura.

Kishi never follow threw what a character says(EX: Itachi said he will not meant Sasuke, flash forward, than they meant). Kishi just adding shock value to the readers on the romance plot. If Kishi really wanted to make NaruHina canon, Naruto will be the one thinking about Hinata and the one to confront her, not Hinata making another predictable second confession. If a character pronounce something that he/she will do before it happens, than most likely it will not happen, that is how Kishi works his story.

It was after Kabuto had a fight with a legendary sannin, and he had the element of surprise at his side(who would expect a rasengan from a 13 yrs old dead last?)
This situation is unlikely on Sakura's case where, the Edo's do the fighting for Kabuto, and where he has an idea of what kind of attacks and capabilities Sakura have.

And I won't consider Orochimaru power-up little. So far, the guy has additional Orochimaru power on top of his medic skills. And remember, the legendary Sannin Tsunade has already said that Kabuto's medic sharpness and skills even surpass that of her own. Beating Kabuto is like beating, an Orochimaru-Tsunade fusion. Yep, I find it way out of Sakura's league

As long as I remember it was some two zombies and a kusanagi that brought Sandaime down.
What's Sakura going to do when there is Kabuto AND some five other kages?
To get to Kabuto she has to grand-slam those zombies first. And while she grand-slam a zombie, the other already grand-slam'd zombie are gonna be recreated again. And if the zombies were Kage, it's gonna be really difficult to even grand-slam it. Remember how even Naruto, and Gaara had such a hard time?

I did think it would be a great battle before. It proves how the slug beats the snake.
The battle between a medic who uses her powers to heal the hurt against a medic who uses his powers to hurt the others.
If Tsunade was beaten by the present generation medic Kabuto, it's only fitting that Kabuto gets beaten by a new generation Sakura.
They both are the greatest supporters of opposing leaders(Tsunade and Orochimaru).
They both are intelligent too. The battle of smarts were already happening between the two, where Kabuto was using Yamato to power up Zetsu, and where Sakura were solving the Zetsu.
They have the same skills(intelligence, medic) and use it for totally opposite purposes.
And so on and so on.

BUT! I still think Kabuto is out of her league. It's not like she has the bijuu like Naruto or the Uchiha bloodline like Sasuke. A few months time is not enough for her to go on the level of Kabuto.

During Jump Festa 2012 Kishi said that he will write about Sasuke, Kakashi and Naruto. When someone asked "what about about Sakura?" he said that... he forgot about her.
