Does anyone feels that Kishi dodged the question in 631 by making Naruto answer the question.
Yes, this is exactly what he did, and this isn't the first time he's done this. He did this back with Sai's words about Sakura treating Naruto gently and those being feelings he didn't understand (her response was interrupted by Naruto telling them they needed to move on) and with Yamato's words about what Sakura really feels for Naruto and Sakura's response to that as well (interrupted by Naruto waking up). This could also even apply to Sakura's confession at the summit, when Naruto cut her off mid-sentence ("Naruto, from the bottom of my heart I-" "I told you, that jokes not funny!").
And now here as well he had Naruto intercept and answer rather than revealing anything with Sakura's response to such a question.
I think Kishimoto is purposefully doing this to tease at Sakura's feelings, building up to a reveal at the very end (the reveal being that she's been in love with Naruto for a while without realizing it).
I don't really mind open endings where pairings are concerned. It depends on the story and how it's executed. As you know from our discussion earlier, Psychox, I ship the pairing Soul/Maka from Soul Eater. Well, it didn't become canon, but there was finally confirmation in the final chapter that Maka felt something more than friendship (Soul already made how he felt pretty obvious a long time ago), and for that particular pairing I was not upset that it wasn't 'official', the implication was enough.
But I don't think that would work here, not because the pairing war would never end, but because it would just be a copout. NaruSaku is probably the most blatantly obvious pairing I've come across, there's too much foreshadowing and yes, too many parallels for it not to be made 'official'.
In this case, an open ending would be the worst for me (and I'm not talking about implied pairings here, I'm talking about completely leaving the character's romantic feelings where there are right now without further addressing them). Not only would it feel like poor and lazy writing since he's teased the romance subplot so much and made romance such huge parts of both Sakura and Hinata's characters, but on a personal level, I just want a final unarguable answer to these pairings wars once and for all.
Here's hoping Kishimoto follows through with his, "I think I may make at least one [unrequited love] requited."
Wait a minute...didn't Kishi say he wanted Naruto to have a son or something? Naruto has to get with someone then. It's kind of hard to have a child without a woman involved somewhere...
Unless you adopt, then it's perfectly understandable.
Not necessarily. Kishimoto can have Naruto have a son that looks exactly like him (much like he looked very similar to Minato), and never say who the mom is (just have them both refer to her as mom).
Besides the tragedies in the SS ship, I simply don't think Sasuke and Sakura's beings fit together. Sasuke is apatetic and I don't think he will give Sakura that attention Naruto has given her. I don't think he can give her as much as she wants to give him. She is a very emotional person and Sasuke is apathetic and doesn't know how to act around a woman. He for instance raises eyebrows, and makes confused facial expressions whenever Karin/Sakura has tried to be intimate) Not to mention every "..." and "?" meant for a female. Since Sasuke is so apatetic I think Sakura will more often than not be the one that "gives" in the relationship, he will mostly take and this is what I saw in their part 1 interactions. Even in the manga and databook, she filled his lonely excistence and hugged him. But I'm not sure what he has given her. He thanked her for all she did, but Sakura has thanked Naruto, not Sasuke for everything. I think Sakura is doing just fine without Sasuke(I know she was still bad in the beginning of Shippuden), but I don't know how her life will be better if he comes back.
I don't think Sakura needs Sasuke back to be fine, I think what she really needs is closure with Sasuke in regards to her romantic feelings for him, and just to simply know that he is going to be alright (safe and/or relatively happy) in regards to her friendship/comraderie for him.
Yeah if we want icing to the cake to, at least let Sasuke give Sakura a smile. A real one, not a smirk. Smirks doesn't count.
Naruto even gave Hinata several smiles
even if those meant for Sakura are more regular, unique and exceptional hehe
Yep, Sasuke has never given Sakura any smile (the only one he's ever given after the massacre of his clan was to Karin in the Forest of Death). This is just one of the reasons why I think that if Sasuke is going to end up with anyone romantically, Karin is the most likely choice (regardless of personal opinion on the ship, objectively, Sasuke has shown a lot more regard for Karin than he has for Sakura).
And actually, Naruto has only ever given Hinata one smile in the entirety of part two, and that was when she told him that it would be good to work with him at the start of the Search for Itachi arc. The expressions he gave her in 559 and 633 were soft smirks (since his eyebrows were furrowed), and his lips were even curled up in the slightest in 615.
There is a world of difference if you compare the expressions from 559 and 633 to the one he gives Sakura in 246 when she punches the ground.
If there's one thing I love about Kishimoto's work, its that his expressions have always been able to convey emotion well (imo) when he wants them to.
Sasuke is pretty much the guy that will end up alone
Or if he wants to revive hes clan he will pick Karin
he needs a woman to revive a clan heh? XD
besides he showed some interest in her , when the second hokage was explaining how Uchiha's express their love which hinted SasuKarin
and also i remember when he told Sakura to kill Karin , he didnt really mean it , behinde her he almost killed her (kakashi saved her here) he was like b**** i love Karin xD
I want your thoughts what girl should sasuke end up?
Sasuke will either end up alone or with Karin, imo. She's still in love with him, and he's shown more regard for her than he has for any other female interested in him romantically.
But reviving his clan has nothing to do with it - that argument was debunked during the summit when Sasuke said that he would revive his clan by slaughtering everyone in Konoha (i.e. that reviving his clan was actually about restoring his clan's honor).
So how do you think Naruto came to conclusion that Sakura is his girlfriend, more or less?
I always interpreted his line to mean that after thinking about it, he thinks there is more to their relationship than just friendship (or at the very least that their relationship is complicated and not so easily labeled as platonic or romantic at the moment), but there isn't anything official between them yet. I could see Naruto being kind of confused as to where they stand after her confession, since the last time they spoke about it she denied that she was lying.
Or it could simply be that Naruto replied that way since she is the girl he's in love with, though the question seems to implicate the nature of their relationship rather than the nature of Naruto's feelings for Sakura.
Do you guys (and girls) think Naruto will confess his love ? And if so when do you think he will ?
My view :
After the last chapter with the whole "i don't wanna have any regrets"
I kinda get the feeling that he's going to confess just before he fights Sasuke.
I mean we know he understands that he could die fighting Sasuke, hell he even in a way guaranteed it with the " if we fight we both die."
So with the no regrets in mind it would make sense if he finally confessed his love to the girl he's always loved.
It wouldn't be a confession where he expects an answer but just simply wants her to know just how much he loves. How incredible he thinks she is and more of that
and maybe even kissing her forehead at the end just before he leaves to fight Sasuke ? Would be a nice moment just before the final fight.
Yes, I definitely think Naruto will confess to Sakura. We know he wants to confess from chapter 457, and also why he hasn't confessed yet. Not to mention combining the parallel between Obito and Naruto (and ObiRin NaruSaku) and the theme that the new generation is supposed to surpass the previous indicates that Naruto will be able to tell Sakura how he feels, unlike Obito who missed the opportunity to do so. Not to mention its just logical, since both Sakura and Hinata got to confess to their respective love interests, the main character should get the same chance (especially since he still has those feelings and they've been reconfirmed recently).
As to when, I also would place my bets on after the war and before his fight with Sasuke. And yes, the "no regrets" thing could tie in with his belief that he may die in this upcoming fight with Sasuke to push him to confess before Sasuke is saved. I also agree that it would be mainly about just letting her know how he feels, to let her know how much he values her and how amazing she is. A really good lead in to that would be if Sakura brings up her old insecurities that she has not/is not doing enough to help him (perhaps feeling his loneliness from the past chapter could amplify those feelings, that she should have been doing more to help him at that time) and Naruto will reassure her that she's already done more than enough to help him.
