Naah it's bothering me that my bestfriend quit learning japanese, but I'm sure he would go crazy with all my questionsXD laugh.gif

But I can go to the comic book store tomorrow after school and check the translation in my country.

To Sojobo's comment earlier that Canadian DJ just brought up:

Please, everyone, read the next page after Hinata's line "I'm going to stop for once and for all". Seriously, read the next page. I honestly can't believe how hard you keep making this for yourselves. You keep breaking this manga to single panels and pages and try to decipher their meaning complete out of the context. Hinata does not say that she will stop chasing after Naruto because she has realized that he does not love her: she will stop chasing Naruto, because she no longer has to chase him as she will be there by his side holding his hand. You don't have to run after a man who is by your side now, do you? Seriously, you literally have to just turn the page to find out what Hinata means.

--

I'm very interested to see the next chapter. It could well crush NH or make it canon. So exciting! a_plotting.gif boogie.gif

So instead of focusing on a single page, we should ... focus on a single page? wink.gif

I have a similar complaint when debating other shippers. When I point out a scene (rarely just a single page or panel) that I think is important, it gets ignored or deprecated, but then they point out a different scene that I think they're pulling out of context. It's a difference of perspective in how we're reading the manga.

Obviously, I think that I have a bit more evidence on my side and I'm sure that you're thinking the opposite.

I know what you mean. I think she will stop chasing him, and be beside him- not behind him. She wants to be equal.

615 kind off ruined that, as an equal should find their own ninja way.. headscratch.gif but that's just my take on the story without any evidence that it's Kishi's intention. : )

My friend only watches the anime(ouch), so I can show him what has already been animated. tongue.gif Nonetheless, he loves Naruto and believes he belongs with Sakura. I had to tell him that he and Hinata held hands, and he was like "eew, wrongwrongwrong" laugh.gif

Ok, so the translation for this

kushina's advice --Click here to view--

" One last thing - about women. I'm a woman myself, so I don't really know how it goes [for men], but since there are only men and women in this world, at some point you'll become interested in women... "

" Be careful not to fall for a weird woman! "

" Be sure to find a woman like your mother! "

So, dunno, if it helps, but... you know, at least from my part I know it was about a weird girl and a woman like her mother. smile.gif
And my friend put a big emphasis on the fact that it's written on the imperative and that in Japan, it's not like, it's in the western "Bring me a sandwich!"
It means something much more stronger.

Hope it helped! happy.gif

Uhm, like you know, the tense of the verb, and the fact that it's with an exclamation mark, which means imperative, like something he must do, as in, you're obligated to do this... Hope I cleared it a bit! ^^

Seriously they really are blind if they think sakura isn't the most popular female character in naruto and has a huge fanbase in japan, kishimoto-sensie's main fanbase. Honsetly, they aren't true naruto fans because they're practically bashing the main heroine of the series who has had AMAZING and deep emotional development, both romace-wise , character-wise and-power wise, and the love interest, Haruno sakura, of the main hero, Uzumaki Naruto. That alone is an insult to kishimoto-sensie's work. Not to mention they rub off the japanese culture, which is important to know if you wanna 100% understand the details of the manga.

the question I wanted do about that kushina's advice was: It's possible that Shueisha gave some advices about certain phrases to each publishing about how translating them? We know that outside of Japan, Pairings debates are more burning and for this they said to foreign pubblishing to be more neutral...

For this reason I ask to you what kind of translation they made... I know that italian version and american/uk version made that advice more neutral than original version. I wonder how are others official translations...

I'm very interested to see the next chapter. It could well crush NH or make it canon. So exciting! a_plotting.gif boogie.gif

Pretty much how I interpreted it. Hinata remains oblivious to Naruto's feelings for Sakura and whatever he feels for her. So why would she give up now before she's even started when Naruto hasn't properly adressed her, good or bad? While I would love to see that meaning Hinata would stop seeing him as an idol and getting her own ground, it was an entirely romantic-based thinking process. There's no other way around it. Though I'm not really convinced it's so much NH endgame foreshadowing as it is a red herring. After all, it was revolving around Hinata's feelings for him. Naruto's feelings still aren't being described in detail and it's not like anyone can say he actually has romantic feelings for her yet.

That I agree on! biggrin.gif The anticipation is killing me ... eager.gif

No, you should keep reading the entire chapter (or really, preferably but not realistically, the entire body of work) before reaching conclusions. tongue.gif It's not that a single panel can't have a meaning but in this case of Hinata chase hold hand thing you really have to read the entire speech of hers so you have any idea what she is saying. I think Kishi intentionally made it sound like Hinata was giving up on her romantic quest for Naruto. I know that that's definitely what I personally thought when I first read that chapter. Then I turned the next page. And saw that what she actually was saying was exactly the opposite of what the page before sounded like: instead of giving up on Naruto, she has decided to really really go for him, all the way. I honestly would love to know what Hinata has been thinking about Naruto and Sakura and their relationship this whole time. Clearly, as you say, she either doesn't know about his feelings for Sakura or just doesn't think that they are something that could stand in NH's way. I guess it's possible, also, that Hinata never realistically thought that she had a chance to be with Naruto and just wanted for once in her life to have the courage to actually pursue what she wanted, even if she knew that Naruto is just going to turn her down.

Me too. I've always leaned towards that she might not know he loves/ed Sakura because of her newfound confidence but I may be wrong. That's definitely possible. I don't really have a problem with her trying to be more upfront with her feelings for him because she kept them secret for so long. I've always thought Hinata deserved a chance of some sort. And if Naruto rejects her or she catches on to his feelings for Sakura, at least she can say she tried. And them maybe after that, Hinata can lose some of her Naruto-centricness and direct her attention to the Hyuga Clan/heiress role. I really want this to happen for her. It sounds like a perfect wrap-up to her character development. happy.gif

If I wasn't a SS shipper and someone who likes NH, I would really support your scenario. If NH doesn't happen, then I'm hoping that something like you just described does. There can be a good conclusion to Hinata's arc even if she doesn't end up with Naruto. The worst thing that could happen to her (character development wise) would probably be turning back to that old, much more insecure and very very shy Hinata.

Part 2:Chapter 245 Page 13 --Click here to view--

I feel that these pages from the starts of part 1 and 2 of the manga really illustrate the development Naruto and Sakura have had.

Sakura initially has a bad attitude towards Naruto, which (in the same chapter) began to develop into an understanding. Skipping forward to the beginning of part 2 she's very clearly admiring him and arguably flirting with him.

These events alone are some of my favorite NS moments but when compared side by side they make a bold statement about how much progress has been made.

Keep in mind that chapter 245 was years ago. That's not even half of the series at this point. The beginning of part 2 is what I estimate will be the 1/3rd point in the series.

I truly believe that taking these 2 pages along with a page from (in the future) the chapter where NaruSaku becomes cannon it will finally be clear to a lot of people how beautiful of a romance it was.

May I hear your thoughts on why you ship SasuSaku? Just curious to know I don't meet SS shippers online often. smile.gif

Well. Let's see. I ship most of my ships because there is something in them that I find interesting, and mostly I'm interested in things that are sort of dark and angsty. So my pairings are not always the most healthy or happy ones. biggrin.gif

SS certainly has all that: it is pretty dark and messed-up ship with plenty of angst. I also tend to like characters that are very flawed, and Sasuke is totally like that and even Sakura has many flaws, though not as bad ones as Sasuke. I find the two of them very interesting as characters and the idea of them together is also compelling. What I also like about SS is that, even though it has so much darkness in it, it also has some sweet and genuinely good moments, for example even though in part I Sasuke sometimes treated Sakura coldly, he still considered her an important friend and was willing to die for her. Even in part two, Sasuke still occasionally thinks about Sakura and team 7, like he genuinely misses them. That combination of dark and light, cruel and sweet, is really fascinating for me. I also like the themes of redemption and making amends. If Sasuke can change and become a good person, then SS has a real chance to develop into a really good and happy bond. So SS basically has two flawed inviduals in a dark relationship, which still has a genuine chance to become a good and happy union. So a dark journey, but with (potential) happy ending. I really like all of these elements, especially together in the same storyline.

I think that Kishi hasn't really explored SS that much. It is a ship with very much potential, but Kishi hasn't really gone into that so much, not the way he has explored the NaruSasu bond. Just imagine how amazing* it would have been if Sakura had been playing the role Naruto has been playing (or if Kishi had just made Naruto gay). We could have seen a love story on a whole other level than we have seen so far. I don't really read that much fanfiction, but someday I may look for some long SS fanfic just to see that potential between them explored. I don't really care if my ship is or if it will be canon. It would be nice if SS will be canon, but even if it doesn't happen, I'd still ship it.

So there. It is kind of hard to list exactly every reason why I like SS, but hope this post gives at least some idea. I also have no idea if other SS shippers ship this for the same reasons. I might be some kind of exception, some lone SS weirdo. biggrin.gif

(*Well, for me anyway. Maybe not for you since you ship some other couple. tongue.gif)

Edit. I also ship NaruSasu, mostly for the same reasons I ship SS: the darkness of it all, yet many sweet moments. In NaruSasu I also really like how deep their bond is.

I'm still completely shocked Sakura actually said that to him. xD I never expected her to say something like that, if you look at Part 1. Can anyone else honestly say differently? I wonder if it's because Sakura started developing feelings for him before this or she was just being shallow. laugh.gif
