To me, Naruto's affection for Sakura is almost a defining trait of his. Him being with Hinata just seems...wrong.

Just to enforce, why Naruto would "move on" from Sakura just when she shows affection for him, if NH and SS were to be canon he should gave up on Sakura on part 1.

Agreed.
The way Naruto and Sakura sometimes find themselves looking at the other is almost too endearing sometime. I think the most recent example would be that bridal rescue shot from Road to Ninja. Say what you want but that gave a romantic vibe like there was no tomorrow.
I challenge anyone to show that picture to a person that doesn't know about Naruto, or at the very least isn't a pairing fan, and ask them what they think of that shot. I'm sure that every time they'll answer that it seems they are in love with each other. Even if that isn't the case for now that's always the vibe you get with moments like that between them.
Even when Naruto grabbed Hinata's hand he looked completely serious, and then he gave his typical smirk when going into full kyuubi mode. Absolutely no fondness from his part. It's almost like Kishi goes out of his way to show that Naruto doesn't think tenderly about Hinata.
Naruto is doesn't feel like Naruto if he isn't loving with Sakura. Naruto is not the one meant to change, he's meant to change those around him. I don't understand why people don't get that.

Even to Sakura, his "love" is just a series of ridiculous dates things. He stands up for her, but he's never emotionally put himself out there. No confessions of any kind. It's just a bunch of air pudding with wind sauce!
And yeah, I'd say it's all about his village life, childhood, background, etc. etc. etc. And yes, he is definitely standing in the way of their love as well. But I don't think much focus is going to be put on him and his feelings until the very end, unfortunately. Anyway, I completely agree. Naruto's immaturity/single-minded naivete is a big problem as well.
Mmm-hmm. Naruto has grown stronger, but he has also been less mature emotionally. Of course, he at least hasbn't swayed from what he wants in the long run, and has been honest about his goal to protect the world and to become Hokage. I mean, it can be a good thing, since I don't want Naruto to emulate someone, like Shikamaru is trying to be like Asuma to let go of any guilt he may feel for "letting" him die.
It's one thing that is a pro AND a con for Naruto; the fact he is unwavering in how he approaches things, but he also fails to realize things can change in more ways than just growing to better yourself/

Bolded: Wow, that is a really powerful sentence, and it's so true. You really connected the dots there! Maybe that's why NH feels so weird to me. We've been told throughout the series that Naruto never gives up. It's his ninja way, it's part of who he is, it's what Hinata admires about him. It doesn't make sense for him to be a-okay with dropping Sakura at the flip of a hat and waltzing out the door with Hinata. He would be giving up on one of his three lifelong goals and taking the easy route. Not that Hinata is an easy woman, but we all know she would get with him in a heartbeat, if given the chance to...
As you said, he has the ability to change those around him. He doesn't need to be changed. That's why he's the main character. Hinata, a character that has so little influence in his life and lacks development with him, causing a change in his feelings for Sakura just doesn't make sense; Naruto slowly but surely changing Sakura's perspective of him, eventually resulting in her falling in love with him, does. He's already changed her so much from who she was back in Part One, (or should I say, who she was pretending to be?), that's why it's such a strong possibility.
I believe in Naruto. I want to see him accomplish all of his dreams! He's so close to Sakura's heart, he can't throw in the towel now.

I'm also highly confused by how people are screaming NH canon. You have to find the person attractive to be with someone. And here's the thing: Naruto shows zero physical attraction to her. Nada. Zip. How can any of them say for sure he finds her pretty enough to like without a panel of him flirting with her or blushing? Saying "jumping to conclusions" here is an understatement. I know attraction is very shallow and it's definitely not everything. The bond is far more crucial but you have to find someone good-looking to even date them. If Naruto thought she was pretty then yeah, you know NH is not impossible. Basically, I'm sick of people assuming she's his "type" just because he held her hand to give her chakra and pep talks her all the time. It's dumb because their forcing their beliefs that "Of course Naruto finds her beautiful!" when Naruto could easily feel nothing for her in the looks department. It certainly seems to hint that, given his interactions with her in the past.
I think that's also why I hate reading NH fanfictions. Besides the fact that their dynamic is bland and it's almost always forced, they always have him end up kissing her or having sex with her. And everytime, I see it as OOC. Everytime I think this: "Um, can you guys really say he'd even want to do all of this with Hinata?"
At least with Sakura, you know she finds Naruto hot. When he came back, it was so obvious it was smacking you in the face. She flirted with him for crying out loud! Not only does NS meet most of the requirements to happen, it also proves there is physical attraction on both sides. NaruHina's one-sided so far. I remember reading a YT comment the other day saying Naruto's chances of getting with Sakura were about as bad as Lee's (I know. The ignorance of some people, really.

The only one naruto has eyes for is Sakura. To him, hinata is placed in the same category as people like Temari, Tenten and Ino, friends.

Just gonna throw my two cents in here about this.
That idea makes Sakura look selfish, not to mention petty. She’s upset about Sasuke because he gets in the way of her love for Naruto? Not because she cares about that boy and he’s making all of these horrible choices and thrusting himself in the darkness? No, that’s just silly in my opinion. I think the love letter guy scene was very clear. He says he must be a great guy, but Sakura is immediately downcast because at this moment, the man she’s in love with isn’t such a great guy. If it was more complicated than that, if she was conflicted in some way about how she felt about both Sasuke and Naruto, than Naruto would be present in her mind as well. (Instead we get another girl thinking about Naruto in the same chapter.)
As for her being unable to kill Sasuke and being upset about that fact, it was also made very clear that she failed to do so because her feelings for Sasuke were still present, and try as she might, she couldn’t ignore them in order to complete the task she set out to do herself. She didn’t break down crying and mentally beat herself in failing because she thinks she failed Naruto. Naruto doesn’t even enter her thought process here. Instead, we get her thinking back to Sasuke and how he used to be, showing that she still remembers the boy she loves and that she can’t become a cold tool and kill him. Also, Sai made it known that she wanted to kill Sasuke not just for Naruto’s sake and the greater good, but also for Sasuke himself. Sakura did not want to see the boy she loves fall into darkness, Sai says this himself.
Every theory you offered makes it look like Sasuke is just a blockade in Sakura’s ‘road to love’ rather than a real person in her mind, and we all know he’s way more important to her than that.
But on Tumblr, the person saw only half of the theory we talked about.

The only problem with this answer is that Sasuke already fall into darkness, she didnt believed it until she saw him.
(Naruto neither)
The other part is that she wanted to kill Sasuke alone because of Sasuke, but what motivated for her to do all of this along is Naruto, she thought she was a burden to him and wanted to do something for him even at the cost of herself.
About the lover-nin it stated that she does not like being in love with Sasuke that only brings pain to her, yes she loves him but it's not about it.
This is the reason why i dont say that she's in love with Naruto.
There's only one thing left for it which is Naruto changing Sakura.

Well, yeah, I know the problems there, I wanted it to heaar from someone else first because I though I might be biased with her since she's a SS shipper.
I am going to come with my answer later on, cause now work is in my way, lol.

Her argument is true in some points, but if i was you i would answer her that it can be seen in different ways.
First of all its no relevant if sakura has done it because she still loves sasuke, the whole scene with sasuke trying to kill sakura two times and also the lovernin scene was to show one thing: that SS is defenetly not the right wayto go! I personally see this teo scenes as confirmation from kishi that SS is dead. During the lovernin scene we even see that sakura realized that sasuke is not the right one to be with.
There must be a reason for kishi to go so far with sasuke that he even tries to kill her and afterwards we see sakura thinking about him in a bad light, and it was not to show that Ss will be canon, it was the opposite. With that scenes kishi showed sakuras feelings for sasuke start to fade away. It was defenetly not to show how much sakura still loves sasuke. If kishi wanted to keep tge possiblities of SS alive he wouldnt show sasuke trying to kill her.
The next thing we can say for sure is that sakura did all this for narutos sake nit sasukes. Why else did she decided to do all that after sai told her how much naruto suffer because of sasuke and the POAL?
Edit:
Her theorie seems like what first comes into your mind if you only read the chapters without much thinking about them.
You can tell her that she has to look underneath the underneath.

So it's interesting that Sakura is telling Naruto the same thing years later. Her resolve hasn't changed either. While this isn't necessarily pairing based, this definitely shows Sakura's quiet and longstanding dedication to Naruto. I don't think Kishimoto has forgotten about Sakura. In fact, this shows that he's very much aware of her storyline and is still subtly putting in parallels. I just don't think it's her time yet.
Anyway, just...interesting.

But she can't, she always fails for some reason. (intentionally by the author in my point of view)
Yamato gave her some advice, she didn't seems to realize the meaning of his words yet, otherwise, she probably succeeded to protect him like she always wanted a long time ago.
What's important, is how you feel about him. Sakura never doubt about her friendship with Naruto, so it has to be something other than that.
I only can think about romantic feelings "Sakura, I can tell just by looking at you, the truth is you...
The truth!! I think this word has to be taken really seriously!
She loves Sasuke, but the truth is... something that Yamato coudn't say in time.
This makes so much sense when Kishimoto says she doesn't know the nature of her feelings for Naruto, even now.
Kishimoto doesn't deny her feelings for Sasuke, because these are the facts actually, it has always been : She loves Sasuke in the beginning until now. Real love or just superficial, we don't care, she is presented as the girl who loves the badboy Sasuke.
BUT... (there is a but) there is THE TRUTH that Yamato was talking about, the truth that Kishi didn't let him say, probably because it was to early to reveal this fact. (a fact that we aren't suppose to know yet)
Kishimoto has to come back with Yamato's speech, because it's the key for Sakura to shine towards Naruto.
Every rookie will shine, I mean, you had to expect that she would hold her hands in battle with Naruto, this is what she wanted to do in the battlefield.
Her developpement is already finished.

Hinata : Naruto... I've always been chasing after you, even now (this means that she is always chasing after him on the battlefield), but once this war ends, I'm going to stop once and for all.
What I understood in her speech, is that she already know that he loves someone else, and that she can't walking with him holding his hands forever.
So I don't expect too much for NaruHina. Keep in mind that this will probably be the last time we will see them together.
Sounds like someone who doesn't want to face reality, cause for to many people (even NSfans), NH is obvious.
I'm a NS fan, but I can be objective, and I'm sorry, but NH has no chances because of what Kishimoto has done before.
Like I said earlier, there is no developpement to see about our hero forgetting his feelings for Sakura, or even doubt about them.
I agree with you i dunno bout some people here but remember this post, when the time comed in thr manga.

A long time ago i find somewhere a scan of viz media version about kushina's advice on women to Naruto. And that tanslation was very distorted (I don't remember very well how they translated it now). If someone can post that scan it would be good...
from the original (japanese): http://raw.narutover.../narutoverse12/
"...変な女に...ひっかからないよーにね......! 母さんのような女を......見っけなさい....!!"
The correct translation is: "Don't caught in a strange woman...!! Find a woman like... your mother...!!"
But the version of my italian volume, edited by Planet Manga, is much different, something like that's viz media's version:
It says literally: "But let it go those who are goods for nothing... Find someone...like your mother!!
Do you see? They changed the meaning of first phrase... just like viz media has done, giving a speech more neutral like planet manga did.
Am curious about the version of your land... How they translated it if you have the volume...?
Because there's no doubt about the original version, there Kishi was very clear (even too much). he speaks about a strange woman.

Please, everyone, read the next page after Hinata's line "I'm going to stop for once and for all". Seriously, read the next page. I honestly can't believe how hard you keep making this for yourselves. You keep breaking this manga to single panels and pages and try to decipher their meaning complete out of the context. Hinata does not say that she will stop chasing after Naruto because she has realized that he does not love her: she will stop chasing Naruto, because she no longer has to chase him as she will be there by his side holding his hand. You don't have to run after a man who is by your side now, do you? Seriously, you literally have to just turn the page to find out what Hinata means.

I'm very interested to see the next chapter. It could well crush NH or make it canon. So exciting!

Guys, btw, if you have some raws and everything, could you pass it to me. I have a friend that knows Japanese and English very good! I'd say, excellent, but I don't want to overrate.
So whenever is something like this, I can be of help.
I asked her before the thing with Kishi and Sakura's heroine status so she translated it for me from Japanese.
Right? It's so...I don't know how to call it, however, full of emotions.
