I Firmly believe that Kishimoto started Naruto on a good note. Its when he starts pushing his weird moral messege on us that everything falls to piece.
Everyone gets a sob story, everyone can be redeemed despite taking little to no steps to redeem themselves, words somehow make everything cool again, despite the fact that said person just killed like...3,000 people including the Main character's parents, teacher, buddies, you kittening name it. 
because there are no real villains in the world who do bad things for the lullz.
But wait, THERE ARE! So thanks for teaching kids to be naive kishi!
At the very least I think Kishimoto should be punched in the gut for trying to shove this disjointed moral message down our throats, its just as bad if not WORSE than ruining the ending with nonsensical pairings like SS, KC and NH...especially in regards to HOW they were resolved; I.E not at kittening all.
His entire world and all the characters in it become irrelevant because what made them who they were to begin with is suddenly something they should no longer be by virtue of the message he attempts to hammer us with. If ninja's bring woe and hatred, if doing their job is the cause of suffering, WHY THE kitten ARE THEY STILL NINJA-ING? why do they need a Hokage? The whole final battle makes no sense in this context.
None of it makes sense.
The Hero fails, the Psuedo-villain/Rival gets love and adoration even though he is completely undeserving, and until 2 seconds ago UNWANTING of any of it, Characters regress rather than evolve, Hints, foreshadowing, development and Parallels are thrown on a pyre and left to BURN and we are apparently not supposed to question why?
How can we not question something that makes no sense? how can we NOT complain about it? that's like seeing 2+3=6 and not wondering wtf is wrong with the mathematician.
There IS NO logical reason for Sasuke to love Sakura, and just a few chapters ago HE DIDN'T. Naruto has repeatedly been consistent with his feelings, Sakura was torn--leaning towards him and Hinata wasn't even in the picture- THAT GIRL'S CONFESSION WAS IGNORED FOR OVER 100 CHAPTERS! 
And we have people lauding this ending as "Perfect!" because of a pairing they liked attaining canon, despite the fact that we are just left to make those connections on our own via how the kids look and kitten.
Sakura is eviscerated as a character right along with Naruto in this ending, they become complete and utter jokes who lose everything that made them who they were with the exception of vague physical resemblances.
The only acceptable ending would have been for Sasuke to die with an apology on his tongue.
Gaara's hair is indeed the best thing about this ending
