I know it was. I only remember the last parting words from Bruce. Anyway, nothing is sure with this movie but you know, let's say she makes a return, I can actually justified that the movie or beyond held her back in the manga to leave too much questions. Who knows, maybe that's why it ended like that. But again, just assumption.

I would bet many things will become clear once the series end.

So...the fact we get a timeskip, it only tells you that someone must be practicing for this day to come. Or again, the moon may had a countdown to it. One way or another, timeskip is there for a reason.

Once it breaks up into pieces, perhaps it stopped i.e the orbital velocity became zero? Thus instead of escaping its orbit, it falls back to surface of the Earth.

 

Lol at the thought of physics in this manga though.
