This is something I've been saying all along.

After Sakura's confession, I feel like Kishi is somewhat taking revenge on the audience by doing this with Hinata, for calling her the heroine and hating on Sakura...

 

Hey its just like how in Avatar the last airbender, the Zutara ship was the most popular, people dismissed the idea of Aang and Katara and Zuko and Mai, yet the creators said they thought of it in concept, tried it, didn't like it, one of the co-creators had enough of it because fans kept asking, so this ship was utterly demolished by the creators, truely an example of when creators are aware of fanbases, they take time to have cruel fun with them. The creators first poked fun at the zutara fanbase in the episode "The ember island players" a parody of the entire series. They then made Aang and Katara the canon couple, then had a stab at them in the "forbidden love" paraody short they made out of fanart. Now the ship has been entirely sunk because its 70 years later in Korra, Aang and Katara had 3 kids, its done. I never shipped anything in Avatar the last airbender, but even I was aware of this. This I feel should serve as a progenitor to any fanbase who thinks their perceptions are somehow going to occur, I mean even then, Zutara did not have an ideal set up to start, I mean in Naruto SS was at least started with both characters being good guys, Zuko and Katara were enemies at first. Anyways yeah, no one should go thinking their fanbase preceptions or ideals are always going to happen.

 

With the case in Naruto, maybe it could be a case that in this past few chapters Kishi was actually targeting the Sakura haters, 3 continous weeks of 630-632, each chapter showcased something new with Sakura doing something haters said she never could.

1. They say, "She does not understand Naruto or know him"- 630 with her speech was the first slap to them, it was what she experienced with him and her own mistakes and trials (like the land of iron events) she was able to speak his mind.

2. They say, "Sakura is nothing like Kushina, Minato will ask Hinata and see her standing by Naruto"  "Naruto does not love Sakura anymore," and "She is weak and useless" also "Hinata is going to stand by his side," and finally, "Sakura will fangirl with Sasuke and forget Naruto." Hello 631, one glorious chapter which was like a 5 chained strike to them, Minato took a dump (as swayer said in his review) on the NH crowd, I felt it was more on the haters, Minato basically said Sakura=Kushina, Naruto practically confirmed himself still loving Sakura from the girlfriend comment, Sakura is standing by his side, not Hinata. Sakura acted mature around Sasuke coming back, rather than fangirl she was cautious and confused considering what he did to her last time, she was smart to remain cautious at first. Also she remained focused on Naruto, she advocated to him to fight, oh we also got her, I have great power within me. Yet many haters felt she was lying or just going to die as soon as she unleashed it.

3. "Sakura is useless and weak, put Hinata in." Look what happens in 632, Sakura displays memories of how she used to be and how greatly powerful she became, moving faster and decimating numerous jubbi clones. She basically came around Tsunade's level too. Yet some fans called Hinata stronger still? Well many expected her to do more in the following week.

 

633 was a consolation prize I felt, many haters basically said "Just wait till what Hinata unleashes, it will outshine Sakura, I mean she airpalmed the ten tails." This made me just go I seriously did not know how to react, she had Naruto's power, many said Hinata would outshine Sakura again and that she was finished, no more powerups for Sakura, well 633 came, Hinata's boost was just a small gain, so Sakura takes out like 100 in one shot, Hinata barely takes out 1 with 64 palms? Some great power boost that was,   I bet many after seeing that were like, 'Well Sakura is done, nothing new for her." *They reached the end of the chapter* Summoning Jutsu! Many haters may have felt annoyed at that part.

 

For anything, maybe kishi is aware or unaware of the pairings, I mean he does not give full concern to these silly fan perceptions on romance, its more important for him to develop the story of team 7, mainly Naruto and Sasuke, but with insulting his characters as individuals, well thats a reasonable thought. I mean many people bashed on Sakrua so much and put in so much on her, if their criticism drove him to do this, well their own hate may have invoked NS.   Some authors have written in ways to get back at others, I mean I was pretty sure like with the avatar stuff mentioned in the start, there were some criticisms of Katara despite Katara always having been a good character in the show. Well look what happened in the end. Not saying Naruto will go the same way but you never know. Critism can drive an author to do things differently and well if the feedback of Sakura got so negative, maybe he is making them suffer, I really wouldn't go far out to say he deliberately did this but if he did, shows he listened to the criticism of fans.

People are in denial.  It's like the 5 Stages of Grief: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and ultimately Acceptance.

 

They can't stand that Sakura is the one helping to progress the story along, even though it's been long established that she's the main female. They refuse to believe that NaruSaku will happen, even though it's backed up by the ENTIRE manga - the gradual development of their relationship, the parallels between Kushina/Sakura and Kushina's speech, Naruto referencing his love for her multiple times and even calling her his girlfriend, Sai/Yamato commenting on Sakura's feelings for Naruto, etc. It's all there. Meanwhile, NaruHina only has Hinata's love for Naruto. That's it. Never once has Naruto seen Hinata in a romantic light; it seemed like it finally happened in 615, but that was shot down in 631 with the girlfriend comment. It is now clear as day that the handhold was purely to transfer chakra as well as give Hinata a boost of confidence. Romance was far from Naruto's mind at that moment. Also, no one has ever commented on Naruto's feelings for Hinata, because they're well-aware that he is in love with Sakura. Even people who don't follow the manga notice the NaruSaku moments, including the New York Times as well as this (found on Tumblr):

 

 

It's all deny, deny, deny at this point: "NaruSaku is only for comedic relief", "Naruto meant a friend who's a girl", "Minato does not know Hinata, otherwise he'd ask if she were Naruto's girlfriend", "Hinata had such a powerful moment in 633, so much better than Sakura's in 632 so Naruto is going to love her", etc. Once it's no longer possible to deny that NaruSaku will happen, there will be extreme anger. This is followed by bargaining ("Please Kishi just kill off Sakura PLEASE! Volume sales will go up so much if you just get rid of her - I'LL buy them all if you kill Sakura off"), then depression and eventually (for some) acceptance.

 

There is an article on Crunchyroll about shipping fanart....NaruHina featured and no NaruSaku, of course.   Funny (yet disturbing) to see so many comments on that article like "NaruHina was the reason I started watching romantic anime" and "I only read Naruto for NaruHina". These people are in for a rude awakening.   If they read Naruto purely for the ships, particularly NaruHina, that's just....sad. There is nearly NO development between them throughout the entire series; development for their individual characters, sure, but not in their relationship with each other. It just shows that people (our ship included, although I don't think we are as extreme) read each Naruto chapter with their shipping goggles strapped extra-tight over their eyes.

lol i think it's safe to say NaruHina fans are in the denial stage of their grief from what I've read of their comments so far.

 

I loved this chapter a nice bit of development for everyone. did anyone else feel that the chapter although really good, didn't flow quite as well as the last couple of chapters because of the amount of power ups we got in this one. I really enjoyed the ending and it's good to see Sakura and Naruto feeling concern for Sai, I thought that was a cute moment. But overall it felt more like a transition chapter for the next one.

is it just me Hinata power up was disappointing. I mean the 64 palms, really. I thought she did master it during the time skip. I thought this because I thought the air palm was an advance technique since it was kind of the new move Neji introduce in Shippuden(why you kill him that guy have so much potential and his death was so stupid lol) . Never expected that she'll be outshine by Shino in power up. Kiba was power up was cool but poor guy (we won't lose to team 7--------» end chapter Summoning Jutsu, we are the new sannin lol:P)

 

Well I hope to sakura has either a water style power up ( so she can help Naruto in the final fight against Sasuke) genjutsu exploited ( Please, so Kurenai get at least useful in a flashback, she's the worst sensei EVER LOL, I mean the only thing she did was gettin own by Itachi and get pregnant. Her student didn't learn anything from her, they only use ability own by their clan..) Last or not least Slug sennin mode. That would be quite the killer power up . Remember Naruto sage mode, It was in a league of is own lol. Sakura could be in that league too.

 

Great Chapter, ranting again but I'm excited now. Do you think we'll see a broken mode from the 2nd and the 3rd hokage ??

 

N.B: WHERE'S LEE MOMENT. Instead of showing side character that didn't do anything in the whole story, why didn't lee shine in the war, I mean think about part 1, in the protagonist, if you take out team 7 who the side character you remember, Lee and Shikamaru lol. We know Hinata, you love Naruto and don't care that Neji die, so let Lee explode and open the 8 gate YEAHHHHHH lol( that how I felt about Neji death and I was cryin next chapter since it didn't happen there:(  )  Lee will have some screen by the end of the manga, that the only thing I didn't see yet.

Agreed with the Hinata part it almost look like Kishi is making fun of her since Neji already knew the 64 palms since part 1 and he was able to go beyond that performing over a 100 palms.

Well yeah its not obviously going to occur because of fan perceptions, even negative. The deal for NS is just well what we have seen over the course of the series. I mean years ago, maybe he did intend NaruHina to be the ending, he did intend to have Hinata on team 7, but the deal with this was Kishi most likely didn't want to follow the most conventional of love interest ideals, rather than have a girl love the guy, he made the complex love triangle we see today. So although its a mess, its different. Anyways this just flows all the way back to the main factor, more screentime= more development. Back when part 1 ended and part 2 began, NS and NH were more or less even, SS took a halt because Sasuke left. But as the shippuden portion of the series went on, Kishi always chose to do more development with Naruto and Sakura, some major events (like the 4 tails) and minor quirky ones like offering to feed Naruto or the Naruto freaking out over Sakura's raw power. Each time there was more NS interaction, some also held tied down to the main story, most important thing was like in 457 when we find out it was not just some childish crush like Sakura's or Hinata's, Naruto had a reason for not telling Sakura, he felt unworthy and would never force her to do anything. He would only feel good with Sakura if one of 2 conditions happened, either he succeeded with Sasuke and then felt like he could tell her, or she came to him on her own will because she wanted too not because he did. In NS, there was so much dynamic stuff occuring, humor, joy, sadness, confusion, and sacrifice on both of them, basically Naruto and Sakura went through ups and downs together, no matter how bad either they still have an unbreakable friendship. Sakura never thought differently of Naruto after learning he was the nine tails Jinchhurki, rather she felt sad because of the past and became more compassionate and protective of him. Naruto would not let one lie from her make him somehow give up on his love, especially when every "he gave up on Sakura" argument undermines the main philosophy of NH, Hinata loves Naruto because he never gave up, basically idolizing him, now how do those who follow idols react if their idol themselves breaks their own way? People get sad, if naruto gave up, it would devastate Hinata. Not to mention if Naruto could not do this for Sakura, how would be even stand Hinata or another girl? Too many flaws in the "Naruto gave up on Sakura" argument.

 

Just like Kishi had hundreds of chances to do more with Sakura (like more fights beyond Ino, Sasori, fake Neji, and this current one) she had many many opportunities to develop Hinata and NH. Even if it was in short simple downtime or they just hung out like 2 times and talked, that would have worked too, but it never happened and some still act like it did. Hinata's only role in part 1 was limited to the chunin exams, after Neji got clobbered, she would not be critical to the story for about 332 chapters, I'm serious, her next moment would be 6 years about later in real time with the pain event. In part 2 she had a minor reappearance, but this was just to reintroduce her, simply show her and team 8 after 2 1/2 years. Later we see her in the Itachi pursuit arc but that arc had no real development for her, let alone even team 7, that arc was Sasuke and Itachi. All Naruto and Sakura gained that arc was more desire to bring Sasuke back. So then we finally get the pain event, yet it was short and somehow justified an entire episode, (I wonder if they are going to drag 615 out as long). Then guess what? Hinata regressed to the back again, its been another couple of years, still only 1 major moment again in all this time. She had minor appearances in the 4th war and Naruto remembered her taking the hit from Pain, but does this still signify NH automatically as canon? Then we get this last chapter with her own internal growth (and people still call NH canon anyways) I mean we see a lot yet, where do we see these highly important events when it gets back to Sasuke? We see gradual growth and improvement on NS, even Sakura herself changed immensely, not one fangirling moment since Sasuke returned, then we get Hinata who is still to many people (even beyond this site) focused on Naruto. Least Sakura can stand on her own. Basically with NH its still mostly Hinata Hinata, Naruto has had no real signs of interest or even signs of being over Sakura, I mean again the arguments for the land of iron ending it, after finding out Sakura was thinking of him the entire time, would he really hold a grudge against her? Some fans think so still, for the billionth time the confession was to try and get Naruto back in the village and to make amends for the promise, Sakura was trying to save Naruto from a possible suicide path towards Sasuke yet haters act as if she was trying to manipulate and use him, even Kishi says he tried to get her to do hard to follow but well intentioned things, you know as he described Sakura as "A stubborn girl who can cause some issues at times but has well intentioned feelings" aka her concern for Naruto.

 

In short, we have a lot to see from NS yet when it comes to haters or those boasting NH or SS, all i can say is, "Where is the stuff to show for it being bigger than NS?" "Kishi sure put a lot into NS, if its not going to happen as you claim, why not have used this time to give Hinata more development before the 4th war arc and grew her gradually with confidence rather then expend her better developed cousin Neji?" 'Where is all the complexity and struggle of NH too? In fact does Hinata even know how Naruto feels about Sakura or how Sasuke is important to team 7? Naruto and Sakura know the love triangle, Sakura knows Naruto loves her but he is unaware of this. I still find it funny that the NH moments may have furthered NS.

 

Kishi may have at one time planned to do something else, possibly NH, all the ingredients for NH and SS were present at the start and could have become something good, but that time is long passed. Kishi chose to develop NS and continued with it. NH had its chance, but its missing so much, what can it bring to deal with the Sakura=Kushina parallel thats not going to change anytime soon? (Plus why even change it unless we need to get things harder to follow) I mean the ten tails is almost at code black levels (worse then code red at times) of danger. What time is there for romance or even importance for Hinata to get the spotlight? Team 7 and the hokages get priority right now cause they are able to stop it, everyone else just follows. At this point even from last chapter, Hinata gets 64 palms, something Neji had the entire time we knew him. Hinata could get 128 palms for all we care, what so critically important to the story remains for her besides either interaction with Naruto or becoming leader of the hyugua, or a talented ninja who can stand confident? Without Naruto, not much, its either resolution or Hinata is done. If she still has more with Nauruto then its sadly she has been reduced to a fodder pairing character, something she does not need to be reduced too, otherwise she can get a good ending if she does something like maybe relying on herself rather than Naruto, you know standing without a crutch. This is the issue people had with her in 633, she was acting bolder and taking initiative like making a defense line infront of him with other ninja while Sakura healed him, then we get this continuous thought pattern with her of Naruto again. 1 step forward, 2 steps back. At this point NH has no set foundation and Hinata herself remains unpredictable, her only resolution I see is either closure with Naruto or being happy for Naruto in his choices. You don't build a relationship and up like NS making both of them drastically change and grow together, only to dump everything else on a character who has limited time and importance in the manga who still loves the hero. Fans expect hinata to get a free pass, all I can say is why? Why bother with all this? Just why break it all to nothing? You realize how insanely stupid and pointless that is? Its like in the journey, you grow and learn on your way to the destination. Hinata showing more of 633, shows she has still not learned all that much. NH is just a destination at this point, many thought it would come, but instead it looked from Kishis choices, that NS was becoming more apparent due to it being used the most. NS has become part of the journey and remember, its about the journey not the destination.

No one said that they just said that she was his love interest, the problem is that there are people who are so close-minded that prefer to "lie to themselves" saying that Naruto doenst love Sakura despite the manga telling otherwise, Sakura's confession and Naruto 631, prefer to judge the book based on it's cover, "Sakura's confession was a lie" - Jumps the whole chapter, "Naruto made a joke" - Ignore the whole panels and jump to 633 pag 7.

No one said that they just said that she was his love interest, the problem is that there are people who are so close-minded that prefer to "lie to themselves" saying that Naruto doenst love Sakura despite the manga telling otherwise, Sakura's confession and Naruto 631, prefer to judge the book based on it's cover, "Sakura's confession was a lie" - Jumps the whole chapter, "Naruto made a joke" - Ignore the whole panels and jump to 633 pag 7.

It's always NS being featured when it comes to romance in naruto manga not any other pairing. What i meant is they read the manga, watch the anime and films and presume NS is the romance side of the manga. I never meant that they support any pairings at all, just that they interprate that NS is most likely the romantic pair.

I know what you mean and sometimes, I often myself thinking, "is it our fault to see it differently?" I mean let's face it, long time ago, we was feeding off Hinata, which led to NH moments, which led people thinking Naruto has changed. That was one brutal event that I ever see in this forums history.

It's not that every single ninja on that battlefield just suddenly learned an earth jutsu without an affinity to earth. This Jutsu was done by only by the ninja that actually HAVE an earth affinity. From what I remember, they only showed random fodder ninjas when Ino relayed Kitsuchi's instructions on how to perform the Jutsu's hand signs. Going by that observation, we can pretty much guess that those fodder nin had Earth as one of their chakra natures if not their only chakra natures. In conclusion, the main contributors of this Jutsu were from fodder nin with an ability to perform Earth Jutsu.

This. It was also shown that Ino, Shikamaru and Chouji were the individuals who have an earth affinity. Just wanted to add to that since they're not considered fodder nin.
