Well, we have no more option then to conclude that Sakura still has a.......lets call it a guilty love for Sasuke.

Still doesn't make sense though. .. There's something I can't put my finger on.

I still say Sakura's somewhat love for Sasuke stems from the bench scene since she still thinks it was him that did it, and usually in real life, first loves are always the hardest to get over.

I know this has probably been already discussed, but what do you guys think of that chapter after Sakuras confession, with Sai saying how it's because Sakura loves Sasuke so much that she's willing to kill him?

Old topics are old. LOL. But it gives me a reason to come back here and debate again 8D

Anyways, remember that this is coming from Sai, a third party, not from Sakura herself. Sai's observation, opinion, whatever alone does not confirm that Sakura's still in love with Sasuke. There wasn't at least even a flashback with Sakura saying that she wanted to kill Sasuke because she loves him, like how there was with Naruto's indirect confession. So unless Sakura says otherwise, I wouldn't take Sai's words as solid proof that Sakura is still in love with Sasuke. She may still have feelings for him in one way or another, but otherwise, just plain no really.

well if you think about it.....

kushina fell in love with minato because

1) he saved her
2) he said her hair was pretty (her insecurity)

now...sakura is confused...because

1) naruto has saved her plenty of times
but....
2) she thinks sasuke complimented her forehead (her insecurity)

thats probably half the reason sakura got in love with sasuke in the first place....

problem is...sakura doesnt know naruto did both things!!

and so .......here we are >:Y hopefully someone brings up this scene...i really think it would end all this.

She's ashamed. Look at her face. Remember that Lover-nin said "he must be a great guy" or something along the lines when Sakura said that she was in love with another when he gave her the letter. Then she thinks of Sasuke in a negative light. She's ashamed because she used to love someone who's so driven into revenge. And a part of her can't forget who said loved person was, because not only was he a crush, but a friend and a teammate.

Speaking of which, I uploaded the raw of 540 and asked a Japanese member on a forum if he could translate it again, to see if the mangastream/other scans were accurate. Here's what he came up with:

I also asked what he thought of the context, and if he believed Sakura was really feeling ashamed.

its a shame that sasuke is not the nice guy the loveletterman imagined and he could have been by rights.
but that doesnt mean sakura is ashamed for him. shes feeling sad about him and her love which seems hopeless.

He's in no way a pairing fan btw. He just helps with chapter and spoiler scripts when they come out mostly.

I've heard this and it still makes limited sense to me. If what is typically claimed is true why does then why does that statement trigger a thought of Sasuke? Usually, the other component of the argument is that she is in love with Naruto.

If that is so, why does she not think of him?

The fact that is triggered Sasuke and only Sasuke certaintly suggests there is something there. This is not to say she isn't conflicted or doesn't possess feelings for Naruto (whether she recognizes them for what they are or not) because it is a pretty negative image of him. And on the whole, that love has consistently been protrayed as a negative one.

Still, the only way I see that as simply being a rememberance of a past love she was ashamed of is if nothing has taken it's place (or at least she hasn't yet realized something has) otherwise, why not think of that?

That may be true but that isn't my point. The point here is that when Sasuke dies [hypothetically] or whatever, Sakura will simply choose to be with Naruto only because of guilt, him being the only one left, second choice, for the sake of being with someone, etc. That kind of thing. She isn't purely choosing him out of love. And according to anti-NS fans, that's supposedly the only way NS can happen, when really it isn't.
