The mere sight of Hinata sends everyone into a frenzy, despite there being nothing pairing related about the scan.
What it is about Hinata that makes everyone here scared witless? Pairing fodder?
Ok, I'll turn around and say throughout the manga, there has been no romantic hints from Naruto's side that he would drop Sakura for Hinata. Characters like Hinata are made all the time, and when the main character's love interest is already established, until there is irrefutable manga evidence which shows he's moved on, don't assume he will move on to a side character with little to no relevance to his character.
Sakura is his love interest, which is why she's on his team. Hinata is not his love interest, hence why she's not on his team and also why she's been missing for large chunks of the story.
She had her moments, which were one-sided and then followed by NaruSaku moments.
This is what I call throwing scraps at other ships.
Consider the following things:
Why hasn't Hinata, if she is such a big threat to NaruSaku, been paralleled Kushina? BS reasons like "well Minato didn't meet her" are stupid because the scene with Minato and Sakura was specifically written to parallel Sakura with Kushina. That was what Kishimoto intended. If he intended to have Hinata paralleled with Kushina, he would have done it.
If Hinata is meant to be with Naruto, why did Kishimoto, instead of give her moments with Naruto so show how the relationship progressed, decide to have Naruto share moments with Sakura?
Why hasn't Hinata, if she's meant to be a threat, been shown to spend time with Naruto in the village? Of the times Naruto has been in the village, he's either been around Sakura, Sai, Kakashi or both.
If NaruHina was meant to be endgame, why did Kishimoto decide to have Sakura by Naruto's side on his deathbed, and then show Hinata run towards him only to trip? Simple, because Kishimoto wanted her there. The trip is to show "hey, you get an A for effort, but you are not the person Naruto needs the most right now".
The ones panicking are embarrassing themselves and bringing the entire mood of the site down.
Meanwhile other pairing communities are as confident as ever, despite the fact that the manga is ending soon and one pairing just got dealt a heavy blow while the other has been M.I.A for a while now.
Seriously I wish I could completely detach myself from shipping 100% sometimes because I am getting really tired of this. This isn't crappy shoujo, this is an action series. The love interest is established and there has already been hints that Naruto is still in love with Sakura in The Last. Despite NaruSaku having the most moments, being one of the more positive pairings and being paralleled to other ships, the NaruSaku fandom predictably goes into a panic over the image of one character who has not had enough impact on the main character in order to shift his love focus.
Honestly at this point if you're still not confident about the ship, then it'd probably be best to drop it. SasuSaku just got one of the worst anti moments it can have some chapters ago, yet they're as confident as ever that their ship, the ship that has been annihilated non-stop by Kishimoto, the ship that has not been paralleled to any other previous pairing nor has the male side shown any hint of harboring deeper feelings for her, will happen despite all the crap Kishimoto has thrown at it. Sasuke is probably the biggest Anti-SasuSaku fan there is and everyone is scared witless.
If SasuSaku happens, then just accept that Kishimoto doesn't give a crap about development and romantic subplots, and wasted everyone's time developing a relationship only to cheap out and canonize some of the worst ships to ever appear in shounen. Granted NaruHina is "better", it's still underdeveloped that it makes no sense in the narrative.
f**cks sake.
