I agree. I'm kinda surprised people are so mad about his begging. Oh well. What I loved most about that scene was how Naruto KNOWS Sasuke isn't the same. It makes me feel really sad.

The problem is all of the words could mean love depending on the context. I have seen suki used as love in Shojo manga where it is obvious that is what it means. The fact that Sai then talks about confessing indicates the context of what he means which is "love"
The only time i saw it aikitteneru used is in One Peice when Hancock mistakenly beleives Luffy says it when he said Arigatou smile.gif
Thank you Verilance! That is exactly what I was trying to say, I just didn't have the definitions to back it up.

But as Verilance has stated he could be talking about the fruit and they were talking about Naruto confessing to Ramen that he loves something else other than the 101 flavours of Ramen, so we are all completely off.
I wasn't all that happy about Naruto begging in such a degrading manner, I understood his reasoning, not the Sasuke part but the part of wanting to avoid war between the two nations, but I also think the Raikage brought up some good points as well. They are both Ninja's and respect is earned through their strength not with them showing what could be seen as a sign of weakness.
I personally think (probably bias here) that Naruto's promise to Jairaya and Pain is more important, and that it conflicts with the promise to bring Sasuke back. specially if he attacks Danzo after the meeting. Naruto needs to show his strength to the world by ridding the word of the Ataksuki, this will go a long way to get peace amonst the five Great Ninja villages. from what we've seen the other four kages are probably more likely to agree to peace than their own current Kage, who after Madara is going to be the biggest obsticle to achieving harmony amongst the nations.

ahahahahha, thats fantastic. Thanks for that

Anyways! Wow, I'm so pleased with the Narusaku elements of this chapter! *has been waiting for soooo long!!* It's wonderful to see something so concrete concerning their relationship, even if its only one sided. I'm especially glad that (in my eyes) it clears up the Naruto sees Sakura as a friend arguement. I'm SOO excited to see how Sai and Sakura's conversation goes. I'm trying not to get my hopes up that their going to discuss Naruto's feelings....because even though that seems like the natural conversation to be having considering this chapters (awesome) events, Kishimoto has the tendancy to suddenly switch topics/not follow up on things.

As far as the whole groveling thing goes....I have mixed feelings. While I appreciate Naruto's ability to put his friends before his reputation....I basically agree with what seems to be the majority here, in that there are better ways of accomplishing that. Its interesting because I think we saw two very different sides of Naruto in this chapter. On one hand we have a 16 year old boy who is willing and able to selflessly put his feelings aside for the girl he's cared about for a very long time. That takes a lot of restraint, patience, and frankly maturity. On the other hand...the groveling didnt show a lot of restraint, patience, or maturity. I think putting your loved ones first is emotionaly mature...but....his follow up....you see what I'm getting at.
Ahaha basically I said a whole lot just to agree with pretty much everyone else.

DAAAAH what a great narusaku moment!

It does make you kind of wonder what Sai will ask Sakura.....I just have a bit of fear that he may ruin it....thereby leaving us to crash and heal up for the next moment we may get

Naruto has failed to bring back Sasuke, Sakura has failed as well. The very promise they made to each to rescue their friends hasn't come to fruition, and IMO this may be creating some sort of block of getting closer to one another more deeper than before. Who knows, Sakura may very well know Naruto likes her (im just saying), however she may feel in some way she still is insignificant in making any real progress in helping Naruto bring Sasuke back.
Bah, Im just rambling

yeah Naruto's desperate begging surprised me, but i guess that just further demonstrates Naruto coming to the end of his best efforts. what i mean is, Naruto has been working towards Sasuke so long it has been wearing on him and it gets tougher as every last one of his attempts fail. Though I am confident that when he sees how his begging has failed, he will put himself into real action like he always has. Also, i can see why some say his begging was so ridiculous, seeing as how Naruto even acknowledged that Sasuke was changed to such a dark place, so I am not sure what he plans to do if he were to 'rescue' Sasuke. He probably doesn't know either, he just knows how important Sasuke is to Sakura and what a friend he was.
anyway,

The crying didn't bother me, at all, no more than Sakura's crying did. Kishimoto just paralleled Naruto and Sakura's feelings about Sasuke again. Team mate bonds are deep in Naruto's world. Look at how Tsunade and Jiraiya both looked sad when they had to come to grips with Orochimaru's death. And that's with Tsunade having never liked or trusted Orochimaru, and Jiraiya having long sense faced the reality of how twisted and evil his team mate had become. Yet there they are clearly feeling a sense of mourning, many years after he left the village a sick and evil man. It's only been three years for Naruto and Sakura and Sasuke wasn't the evil, twisted man Orochimaru was when he left, but a 13 year old boy driven mad by vengence.
As for the narusaku parts, I'm eagerly waiting to see what Sai says to Sakura in the next chapter. Sakura loves Naruto as much as Naruto loves her, but I think neither realizes the other's depth of love. Sakura isn't a words person when it comes to her romantic feelings for Naruto, she shows it through actions. If Sai tells her that Naruto feels he has to hold back because of the promise he made to her three years ago, she's going to act to let Naruto know that certainly isn't part of the promise. She didn't ask him to hold back on his feelings for her, and in fact in part 2 she's encouraged him multiple times to act in response to her romantic actions.

I put it through Japan Excite: Japanese to English translation and it said Sai asked Naruto if he had made love to Sakura yet!

that sounds more like sai, at least he didn't say something about naruto's size lol
but that goes with my earlier point that Japanese is a fluid language depending on context

It's probably a mixture of things. We all know Naruto is no good at picking up hints.

I wonder if Kishimoto is actually going to dare to bring Naruto and Sakura at least a couple of steps closer towards becoming a couple? After all, we've known about Naruto's feelings for Sakura for years, and there have been hints at Sakura developing feelings for Naruto all over Part Two (after he became a precious person to her at the end of Part One). Will Kishimoto finally have Sakura admit - at least to herself - that she has feelings for Naruto? I think there's a small chance there.
Could 2009 be the year we finally see Naruto and Sakura become a canon pairing? Who knows.

AND I LOVE that Naruto admits Sasuke has changed and I love that he's standing by "no more revenge." I was so terrified he was going to seek revenge on Pain (I know this was a while back but I'm still so happy over it) and gosh I love this manga now.

On another noteee..
ILU SAI.
this one broke my heart like a lot of people. poor naru ;A; he won't tell her he's in love with her/likes her (whatever the heck the right translation is. I WISH I KNEW JAPANESE) because of the promise about SASUKE. BREAKS MY HEART. and the panel where he's like '...how can i?' with her walking away sdlkgjdslkjg -sob- kishi, wtf you said you weren't good at romance. THIS IS SO SAD AUGH
lol at the naruhina boards freaking out. they crack me up with the things they say sometimes.
but yeah OMG IM SO EXCITED FOR NEXT CHAPTER, cos of sai talking to saku (FINALLY SHES BACK IN GEEZ). well we don't know if he's gonna tell her naru has FEELINGS for her or get her to confess, but i think he might address the narusakusasu dynamic, and/or sakura's feelings for SASUKE, cos he knows about naru's crush/love on saku, naru's brotherbond with sasu, but what's saku got to do with it? like karui asked. 'what's sasuke to her?'
STILL, gonna be awesome when it happens.
and hokage meeting. that's gonna be wicked. mizukage is a redhead too :|
sasu lurking in the corner with his sharingan is weird. and some of you guys are saying it went auto-pilot cos of madara and itachi trying to keep sasu away from mada, but i think sasu might have turned it on, on his own. he's in front of one of the people that killed his whole clan, anger might activate it like does for kyuu!naru's fox chakra.
