Huh. This chapter has me talking more about this manga than I have in months. Dammit Kishi, just when I think I've completely escaped you and your grip...

If nothing else, I have to give Kishimoto credit for that. He has the *entire* Naruto fandom, whether you're a pairing shipper or not, talking about this chapter now tongue.gif

Harry/Ginny. That was the double take from hell. I swear I got whiplash. If Sakura confessed to loving him and then got stabbed plus all the other sh*tty things happening to Naruto, he would have evolved 2 extra tails for the hell of it. Super batsh*t 11 tails kyuubi !!!!!!!!!!!!!

And considering we have all seen this happen in other fandoms the Harry/Hermoine shippers were and are *still* in shock over the 'slap em together' Harry/Ginny pairing, while I agree 110% with your way of thinking, Kishimoto has been known to do stuff that we as his readers just have to shake our heads at and ask ourselves, "just what the hell was he thinking?" mellow.gif

I could make a remark about that whole situation as far as Harry Potter goes in general, but I think it would be a bit too risque for this board. And I haven't even read the books. I just despise it when common sense and good storytelling is thrown out the window for the sake of pleasing fans of any sort.

It's sometimes why you see an otherwise great story go down the toilet after it becomes popular; the writers more often than not begin to worry more about pleasing others than writing thier story. Then it ceases to be their story. It becomes the story of everyone else. Then the quality suffers in comparison and the product becomes something far from what the fans loved in the first place.

All that aside, I agree that Kishi has made some questionable decisions. I'll be the first one to jump on what I've percieved to be downright terrible directions for the manga in general and missteps that could have been completely avoided with common storytelling sense, but I do think this is a different case. Something like popping in NaruHina out of nowhere seems way too amatuerish, even for Kishi.

Try not to think negative SB. I'm quite sure that even if Hinata survives NaruHina isn't going to happen. Not unless Kishi has no sense at all.

Man... talking about Hinata's "soon-to-be-death" is getting crazy in here. I wonder what will happen here if Kishimoto really revive her back...

I'd just laugh at him. I'm not even joking. I would have a good, long laugh. Perhaps interspersed with a little headshaking and finger wagging.

Ok, who wants to bet chapter 349 is going to have Sakura jump in the middle of the battle? Seriously, if Kishi doesn't kill Hinata, or have an NS scene in this chapter I'm going to kick him all the way to Gitmo.

Well, well, well. This chapter was shocking to say the least. Although I don't think the confession came out of the blue like a lot of people think. Naruto was pinned down and Hinata was already seen in a previous chapter to want to rush in and help him. A lot of us speculated that she would foolishly rush in and get killed. Now we don't know if she is going to die or not cause Kishimoto has not killed off any of the new generation of ninja. Anyways to go back to what I was saying about how the confession was not out of the blue, Hinata rushed in knowing that she would most likely die and therefore she had nothing left to lose when she confessed. I agree with most of the people here that said that Hinata's confession sounded like that she was okay with knowing that her love would only be one-sided. Although, I myself might not drop the manga if Hinata is somehow magically revived, I will lose a bit of respect in Kishimoto as a writer. Hinata's death, as bad of an occurrence as it is, is an excellent way to get Naruto to mature even more than he already has. All I have to say is that it is hard to figure out what type of direction the manga will take until we see the next few chapters. I will either be really disappointed or happy depending on the direction this takes.

I do not agree with Rowling's final pairing choices. but for the sake of representation:
AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER. The final pairings did not in any way reflect fandom favorites. Zutara was everywhere in the avatar fandom, we were like rabbits breeding and claiming any hell hole we could find. I honestly believe we were over 80% of the avatar fandom. Tons of art and fanfiction.

KATAANG was the writer's final pairing choice, it had a descent amount of art and fiction but even when it was final and set in stone, I saw next to no celebration. Leading me to the conclusion that like i had suspected, it was just not that popular of a pairing. The writer's knew about zutara's popularity but stuck with what they wanted and had always planed for the show. That, regardless of pairing preference is something I can respect.

I'll continue to believe in Kishi, and the 3+ years worth of development that he's had for NaruSaku vs this completely random-out-of-the-blue-during-the-middle-of-an-epic-fight confession ^^

Im intrigued by her death.

Ive allways maintained that Hinatas would be called upon to make a sacrafice. But I figured it would be a metaphorical one where she confesses and then steps aside for Sakura. Since Sakura is Narutos dream and we know Hinata has supported Narutos dreams.

Such sacrafice is a large theme in many anime including naruto.

Her death as the sacrafice though has major implications for many characters in the series. Alot has been made of Narutos reaction. but what of Kiba and Shinos?

or more importantly what of Nejis?

I trully hope Kishi has the courage to weather this storm and leave her dead. if he does this willr ank to me as one of the trully Brilliant story moments in the history of Manga.

Avatar: The Last Airbender was a rare breed in this regard. I honestly applaud the creators for it too. They did what they wanted to from jump street and didn't sway despite overwhelming fandom of the unintended pairing.

That's how you do it.

hey everyone...haven't been around for a while..but HAD to drop in with this chapter. We prob all knew the confession was coming... just didn't know when...but
IMO it's very easy think of this chapter in a positive way.
Either a) Hinata dies and NH is *over* (Naruto x corpse?)
or b) Hinata gets pwned on her one chapter to shine and then gets near fatally stabbed. (and hopefully suffer some permanent damage)

I say cheers biggrin.gif

If she does survive, the pairing debate will all shift to Naruto's response. Like Sakura back in 297 where she has the choice, I think Naruto's the one with all the power now. And hopefully he will not give up on the girl he has always liked.

So far from what I'm seeing by rereading, Pain will die and Naruto won't be captured... for now (save that for the big upcoming finale chapters) and I agree with the recent posts from the members. Obviously this Hinata's soon-to-be-dead scene will probably trigger a somewhat more mature Naruto after this fight is over (and someone please find Yamato! Where is he and Sai?! Berserk 6-tails -no matter how badass it is- is ON THE LOOSE!!!)

I still have faith in Kishimoto, hopefully it WILL make sense in the future chapters, whatever he's planning for the next one.

^LOL that is true... but I don't even think Yamato will be able to control a berserker 6 tailed kyuubified naruto... he was barely able to control 4 tails as it is.

This is a bit off-topic, but I just have to speak up here tongue.gif

I'm not really sure just where you were looking, but there was certainly *tons* of celebrating here points at our Avatar thread with the pairing poll XD, on Youtube, LiveJournal, and other places.

Zutara was hella popular yes, but Kataang was just as popular, and I know that we *here* certainly rejoiced when that pairing became official happy.gif

Don't have faith in kishi derock...have faith in NaruSaku, always.
for me, the confession really came out no where. Hinata got demoted to a tenten-like status in part 2, goes missing for XX chapters, then suddenly comes back, have this epiphany, and confesses her love?... really sounds like some NH fanfic to me. Until I see the next chapters, I don't faith in kishi to ever make sense again.

I don't think Yamato is coming back to control Naruto... guys, Sakura is still around (and not stabbed by Pain thankfully) and maybe, just maybe she'll play some role in getting Naruto to snap out of it. The Yamato speech...remember?
