For those who joined me in the last chapter thread with me thinking something "negative", well I will hold on to that for now. It didn't happen nor the opposite. So yeah, next time. Though it really seems like we are getting one more arc for sure, no doubt about it. But of course, there's always Krillin.

I actually kinda liked this chapter, especially with some history behind the meeting first Gokages, and the current Gokages finally arriving to the battlefield. I was kinda hoping Sakura would appear in this chapter, but we've still got a while since this volume just started. 

 

My review: 

 

I like the idea of the chapter, I liked seeing the first congragation of the Gokage but I felt that the chapter was a bit messy.  I think I would have enjoyed it better had this Hashirama's flashback not been "seen" or "felt" by everyone (last week, it was special that Naruto's heart was being felt), and I found the constant change of perspectives a bit confusing.  I tend to find the flashbacks interesting in general, I just thought that this chapter seemed badly put together.  I might have a different perspective when I re-read though.

I will admit, I have to reread again for the first meeting. It was a bit too much and it's like almost 4 am. I can't say I regret staying up because I was playing walking dead, so it's all good. Still, I hope this is it because we got 9 chapters to go.

That doesn't explain how this chapter reinforces or strengthens the argument in favour of SSM. 

Given the parallels plus past chapters it's not such a rocket science that it's bound to happen at some time.

On the plus side, we are pretty much guaranteed one more arc, so if not happen here, though I would like that, then she has one more shot. I do wonder if Sasuke will ask for curse seal or the other sage. But that's another discussion.

i think sasuke will gain cs lv.3, but doesn't negate the possibilities for him to gain snake sm, for me if he gain curse seal he will not loose his eye design.

It is quite annoying that Sasuke is able to use Senjutsu like it's nothing   Although Senjutsu Susanoo does look really epic! Another thing I like is that we got to see the first set of kages which was cool I think the chances of Sakura being able to go SSM have increased but only if there is one more final arc...

That was this chapter point though it would seem they would compare when Sasuke shows darkness once more. So yeah, they're hyping the next-gen Hashirama vs. Madara.

I see him going for curse seal, knowing it's free, easy, and most importantly, instant. Sasuke is the guy who don't wait, he wants it immediately. Though I do think he will get special powerup that will put him on the mat. Not sure what, but it will be something.

I liked this chapter, while it didn't have much action Hashi and Tobirama's interactions made up for that.

At least this chapter indeed raised the possibilities for a SSM for Sakura.

 

How exactly?

 

Unless she whips it out before sunrise there is no point in her obtaining it, and if she does whip it before sunrise you will be able to audibly hear fans screaming asspull.

 

Sakura will not participate in Naruto and Sasuke's fight, Naruto and Sasuke's fight will be a direct parallel to the Hashirama-Madara fight, I know people say, that she'll parallel Mito but did you see her in Hashi's flashback to his fight with Madara? No. Do you know why? because she wasn't there Hashi was perfectly capable of controlling Biju on his own. Plus the Hashirama-Madara fight was already a parallel to the fight between Hagoromo(the So6P)'s two sons.

 

Also if there is a fight between Team 7 and Taka+Orochimaru next arc, then Kakashi vs. Orochimaru would make much more sense as both of them symbolize what Sasuke could('ve) become.

 

And as for the possibility of Sakura vs. Jugo, you don't need Sage Mode to defeat someone who uses Senjutsu, look at Nagato, he beat Jirayia and severed his arm while Jirayia was in Sage Mode, Although I believe that Yamato will be the on to fight Jugo, since as a Jonin and a former ANBU (the strongest kind of ANBU) combined with his long absence it would be an insult to his character to put him up against Suigetsu or Karin.

kakashi alone would never hurt orochimaru, the way i see it, sakura will join force with kakashi(and maybe yamato and sai?) to fight orochimaru, because i belive orochimaru will take all sharingan stock to use as his izanagi bail out. i mean this is the guy who despite can't perform hand seal can goes toe to toe with fourth tail naruto.

well but that's just my opinion, it's all up to kishi.

Parallels to what? The only existing connections lie in the slugs' affiliation with Shikkotsu Forest. But there was never any foreshadowing or hints in the manga to imply that Tsunade, the person whom Sakura has chosen to emulate and inherit from, is a senjutsu user or that she's even aware of its basic principals.

Sasuke's situation needs to be clarified. He doesn't actually have the Curse Seal on him at the moment. His senjutsu is being drawn from Juugo who is acting like an external power supply. Without that source available he couldn't use sage chakra.

dude this is kishi, IF he is intend not to make slug sm, he will not mention the three place. and even juugo clan ability originate from ryuichi cave. i mean cmon even if sakura can learn and perform ssm doesn't she equal to max power naruto and sasuke. she will only reach high tier kage level, the highest level an ordinary shinobi can reach.

Kakashi vs. Orochimaru like I said before would symbolize what Sasuke could've or still could become and it was also show how much Kakashi has grown thanks to Team 7 (remember back in part I he said he probably wouldn't survive a fight with Orochimaru after he sealed Sasuke's Curse Seal), also how would Izanagi or even Snake Sage Mode help Orochimaru if he is trapped in Kamui?

i think it will become like how sakura&chiyo fight sasori.

 

and kakashi is high jounin/(low kage) level with kage level eye power.

this is orochimaru, the one who can stand tsunade punch and still alive, and he got zetsu body, only god knows what will he do with it.

Evidently you and I have very different perspectives of combat rankings. That's a different topic though. The issue is how this conclusion was reached about this chapter somehow reenforcing and/or strengthening SSM's chances for Sakura. From what I gather it seems that an assumption was made under the belief that since Naruto and Sasuke both are using senjutsu (in a highly conditional fight) that Sakura will develop senjutsu as well. I'll point it out again that Sasuke's ability to contribute in this fight was only made possible because of Juugo. He isn't a sage of any kind and his only means for acquiring natural energy was deprived from him when Orochimaru's essence was removed.

This attempt at establishing a trinity of sages doesn't hold water if one of these so-called "sages" is only receiving his chakra from someone else and not through his personal meditative training. It's the same for Sakura and Shikkotsu Forest. I don't discount the existence of SSM. Only the belief that it will be passed onto a character who engages in very little combat personally and has only a few loosely defined connections to use as a point of legitimacy.

Hashirama's Sage Mode being slug oriented hasn't been ruled out entirely. The parallel to Hashirama's self-regeneration without handseals and the visual similarities between it and the Yin Seal still exist. It's possible that he is intended to be the representative of slug senjutsu.
