I don't see why people are freaking out over the ending with Sakura singing about Sasuke, to me it seems like a sad reflection of days gone past.

There was nothing wrong with the animation. It was fluid and fast paced, like a good fight should be.

It's the art that was terrible. Pain was a deformed blob half of the time, and Kyuubi Naruto looked like some kind of horrible clay doll. And the few shots we got of Hinata made her look like a five year old. Can you say "Creepy"? I think you can.

As for the episode itself, I feel they wasted what could have been an awesome one hour special. If they were going to add in a bunch of filler elements, they should have done more than they did.

I like that they had Pain use a few of his elemental jutsu, but he only used Katon and Suiton. Chibaku Tensei might have used the ground and rocks, but he didn't actually use any Doton jutsu. And there's a complete lack of Fuuton and Raiton jutsu.

The Rinnegan is supposed to give the wielder the ability to use every element. The anime companies don't really have the same constraints as a mangaka. They should have been able to do more.

And then there's the Kyuubi transformation itself. Naruto goes from 4 to 6 to 8 tails. Why did they add the four tail state, and no other ones? If they wanted this to be a truly magnificent battle, they should have started it at one, and every time Pain got the upper hand, the next tail would grow. Showing Yamato getting more and more desperate as he raced back to the village would have given the situation a real sense of urgency and terror, instead of the completely calm way he talks about the Kyuubi being released.

As for the new ending, it's pretty. I don't care about the imaginary shipping subtext you all want to talk about, I'm just glad I don't have to hear that woman talk about bicycles any more. Seriously, Jitensha is easily the most annoying song I've ever heard.

Ha, yeah no more bicycle bicycle bicycle bicycle. tongue.gif

But like you said it wasn't the animation that was bad. It was what they animated that was. Pain being a blob aside, this is a borrowed body. It has it's limits. The beating he took should've left the body useless. i don't think Nagato has the ability to heal the bodies especially without the re-animation Pain that brought the other bodies back from 'death'.

So how is Nagato still in tact if he's a dead body that can't heal and's probably been through ton's of battles especially the one against the Kyuubi? Frankly, Nagato should be in pieces!

Technically speaking since Yahiko is the one that's dead and Nagato is just using him as a vessel, rigor mortis should have restricted any sort of moments whatsoever in his body. Not to mention he should have decomposed years ago. So I'm guessing that's part of the Rinnegan's abilities.

You know what bugged me... when they cut from these crazy, intense fighting scenes to the stock figures of Sakura and the Hyuuga on the rocks. Everything else was so intentional and stayed in it's form, the jagged action scenes stayed jagged, the beautiful, dreamy end scene with Minato stayed dreamy. But it's like someone came in after-the-fact and slid in those scenes with Sakura. They were poorly done and woefully out of place.

As if one of tha lackey animators realized just before deadline that NO ONE had added in the Sakura scenes. "Ah well, just use the ones from last week's episode. She's just name spamming anyway. *tweak, tweak, tweak* Yup. That'll do."

As for the ending scenes, I have to say the last two with Sakura (this one and the one before the Hinata-esque girl), the illustrations of her have been beautiful.

Oh! And did anyone else think Nagato looked like a nightmare version of Ponyo's dad? biggrin.gif

As No Whereman said Yahiko, the body is dead, not Nagato. Plus the reason why the bodies have been fine after being through tons of battles is the Pain who can heal bodies. Plus we know that Pain's had to replace bodies before. It was a regular thing that the Amegakure nin guys that Jiraiya caught had to bring bodies to Pain's tower. Probably so he could make new bodies because the ones he used stopped working.

well personally i find the new ending a little confusing it is true that the lyric point to Sasuke but if the guy we see the chin is indeed Sasuke this will be the first time i ever saw Sakura Smilling after having a flashback about Sasuke (she usually get depressed). huh.gif

im probably thinking to much anyway.

Man, I just noticed, but there is a scene where pein runs on the water and it looks just like a sonic rip off, look at the leg effects: http://ladygt93.deviantart.com/

This episode made one of the most tragic chapters ever, into a more tragic and dramatic episode. I mean the animation was faulty here and there, but over all it was pretty good. Most of the characters were drawn nicely. The ending seems like a continuation from the last summer theme, though I like that it was Sakura singing, except for it being about Sasuke, seriously do the animators love that couple? I'd give the whole episode a 7/10 for staying mainly on track, but horrible drwaings.

I might be overanalyzing a purely Sakura ending, but did anyone else notice the city? It changes to add windmills in the end. So it could be just another transition ending.

I believe your right, while the lyrics state that her song is about Sasuke, the background and surroundings support Naruto. smile.gif Other than that, its purely a Sakura ending.
