However, it doesn't really solve too much. Maybe if O'Sullivan can get some chemistry going with Horcoff and Hemsky... then it could have a bigger impact than I'm imagining... but really... this is almost a lateral move other than the fact that O'Sullivan is only ~3 mil (a little bit under but I'm not sure of the exact number) and he's signed for 2 years.
Cole is probably happy to be heading back to Carolina.

Yeah... that's what they're reporting.
Cole for O'Sullivan
2nd Rd pick for Kotalik
Not bad considering that Oilers' scouting agents suck... so that 2nd round pick isn't worth too much for us.
I'm liking it... at least they did something. And like I said... got rid of the UFA Cole (even though I like him) for a 2 year O'Sullivan.
EDIT: Actually, thinking about this a little bit longer... I'm actually starting to really like the acquisition of O'Sullivan.
Now we just need a better coach (no matter how much I like MacTavish... he's just not doing his job all that well...).

That's really great...I'm relieved his injury was not a career ending, or even a season ending one. That was scary. Good for him to get back out there.

you know i haven't really cared about hockey since i was young having to suffer through how bad the leafs play year after year does that i guess but i never thought Terry Sawchuck's shutout record would EVER be broken.

As an Oilers fan... I don't know whether I want Edmonton to make the playoffs or not this year. MacTavish only has 1 year left on his contract... if we make the playoffs (even if we're knocked out first round), I can easily see Lowe extending MacTavish's contract again. If we don't make the playoffs... we might be able to get rid of him.

If we make it to the playoffs he's one of the big reasons why.

Nice article on a possible Canada Team lineup for Winter Olympics 2010.

Sometimes I hate being an Oilers fan...
Our players usually only show up for the 3rd period. We're relying on a 39 year old goaltender who has started 60+ games and is basically standing on his head. The team is (probably) going to miss the playoffs for a 3rd straight year. Other than the miracle 2006 run, the past 8 years or so have been nothing but 0.500 mediocre hockey. Ridiculous contracts made by the "former GM" that will plague us for another few years (since they're basically untradeable). We have a puppet GM. No sign of anything changing because the head coach is personal friends with the president and they're both personal friends with the owner... meaning their jobs are still pretty secure after another season of disappointment for Oiler fans. Owner doesn't really feel pressured to make any changes since the team will continue to still make money whether or not the team plays well or not since it's situated in a hockey-crazy Canadian city.
...but I'm still here. Still watching every game with high hopes. Still cheering for every goal and hit. Still waiting.

3rd straight season of missing the post-season.
If I don't see some radical change next season... I'm going to be angry...
