Don't worry about it. In a way, he didn't use present tense either. He just tip-toed around it, like mangaka usually do when asked questions like that. It's why I've always found it annoying how some fans treat these Jump Interviews like they're holy documents or something. An author isn't going to ruin the ending of his/her story just like that, they're just going to make off-hand comments to keep fans excited and reading. Honestly, I'm a bit tired of the whole "So-and-so loves so-and-so because the author coughed twice", or "So-and-so will return to the plot because the author glanced up to the right for a moment".

But even if that one was accurate (which I still remain skeptical about given how there's no less than 20 translations floating around the internet), it didn't really tell us anything new. The reason the confession didn't go so smoothly was because she still had some feelings for Sasuke, so Kishi was just reinforcing that. At least he didn't say it flat out.
Or maybe he did, Japanese is a heck of a language.

Yeah, I'm still skeptical about the "revised" version of the quote, too. Either way, I do think that the forehead scene will be reinforced, Sakura still thinks that is Sasuke all along.. I mean, Naruto did screw himself over when he henged. Kishi really needs to revise it and make Sakura know that it was Naruto, not Sasuke. The whole Minato/Kushina parallel would be complete if that happened too, with the whole: "Minato liked my hair, I fell in love with him." "Naruto liked my forehead, I fell in love with him" sorta thing

I don't doubt that but there's no getting past that they are superficial. It's no different than those princess fairy tales where they fall in love after talking for not even ten minutes, don't you think? Well okay Sakura has talked Sasuke way more Than Hinata to Naruto. But he doesn't respond to her, nor showed that that he saw her as anything as a comrade, too one sided to be anything realistic. Can it happen? yes But that doesn't make it a GOOD pairing, nor is it good writing if it comes to that just to APPEASE the fans. And face it NH or SS really WOULD BE just to appease the fans because there is no reciprocated feelings or neutral intimate development.

Eh, but what odds would you have given that Sakura would still love Sasuke at this point? I know I wouldn't have believed it back when part II started. I also don't believe the odds likely that Hinata will stop loving Naruto. I mean, it seems Kishi purposefully wants all pairings to seem possible at this point. 'Likely' is another topic.

You hear Oh Hinata deserves Naruto WAY more than Sakura, or Sakura is such a b****, Go Die and let Naruto be with Hinata! or something like that. They never said NaruHina was a good couple, only that Hinata should "get the goods" because she's the Shy, sweet girl, while Sakura is just a not cute, in-effeminate B**** and should have the crap for the rest of her life cause she deserves it, not trying to see her character development

It's a cute picture, I'm not going to lie. But the excuses are just... nonsense. 'I tried to kill you because I couldn't stand you seeing what I've become.' Really nice reason to kill someone you 'love'. And besides, he never showed any shame or regret for the things he'd done(ok, maybe killing Itachi).

Yeah. I would really like this pairing if Sasuke liked Sakura before going apekitten. At least there will be a basis to their pairing but Sasuke has never, ever, ever(times infinity), showed romantic interest towards Sakura. That's why people supporting this pairing irks me with their logic.

Yeah I think that way too. I would really be ok with this pairing if Sasuke liked Sakura, I mean really like her in a romantic way before going batsh*t insane. At least there will be a basis to their pairing (just like you said) but Sasuke has never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever(infinate times), showed any romantic interest in the love department towards Sakura. So now out off blue he will realize that he always love her or start to love her, I feel that if he returns to a better state than what he was in the past, he will be ashamed of loving her back or hope that she still return to him, he knows he has no excuse to explain what he did.....So how about this Sasuke, this one look more real to me.

The most I see them being is good friends but not lovers, Kishi screw that chance up with the murder attempts on both side plus Sasuke not showing any regret about it.

Anyway, it reminded me of something. I don't see how Naruto is anything like Twilight, for one. And for two, most manga have love triangles, even before Twilight was made. Like DBZ. I'd say it's just a dramatic subplot to add more unf to the story.

I agree with this, it seems pretty pointless to hate a ship based on how annoying its fandom is. Besides, it seems to me like there's crazies on all sides. I don't think anyone's too bad on this particular website, but I still see some N/S fans bashing characters or spreading misinformation all over the place. I remember watching dubbed episodes online after I was introduced to the series, and reading ridiculous amounts of comments on how Naruto and Sakura or Hinata are married in the Japanese version, or how every N/H, S/S, or N/S fan gave up after Chapter Blabbity-Blah (it doesn't help that the dubbed version is like 6 years behind the manga; it's no wonder so many jump to subs or the source material).

Anyways, I don't know if we do it as much as N/H, but I guess you could just chalk that up to N/H being bigger in the Western fandom, since I would assume the amount of rabid fans would increase proportionally with the general fandom size.

I know. I'm only explaining the general mentality of some fans. But I guess it came out wrong. I'm not basing any arguments on it only saying that's pretty much why some NH fans act the way they do. Anyways Sakura is an under dog of sorts too but they don't see it that way. I have nothing against the pairing, nor hate it at all(besides preferring NS) only that it IS at the moment superficial.
