It's pretty twisted how SS fans like to say that Naruto was a SasuSaku shipper. He wanted to make Sakura happy even if it meant bringing her back with Sasuke. That's some incredibly selfless love right there.
Only way he would've been an SS shipper would've been to test Sakura. Too bad that plan backfired on him.

Why is SasuSaku deemed more preferable to them? There's no appeal to it. The man within the relationship is a murderous vagabond who never batted an eye towards the woman and had proven time and again that neither her or her misplaced affections mean anything to him. The woman is in a ceaseless state of emotional desperation to see something that was never there. Her reasons apart from acknowledgement as a person stemmed from superficial ideas and lust. Nothing can justify Sakura or Sasuke having any relationship with each other beyond the regrowth of a friendship that hardly existed back in Part 1. 

 

I think it had to do with Sakura being a popular female character. 

 

And I, myself, will never understand the appeal of SasuSaku. Whether it's fangirl x popular guy, or pathetic girl x uncaring dude, with murder attempts in between... I mean no matter how you look at it... There's no way to put SasuSaku in a logically positive light. I'd love them to be comrades who care about each other. But romantic SasuSaku just demolishes their characters. It's just a horrible sight to see. Yet so many people in the world favor this couple, as much as they favor SasuNaru. God...

That's good to hear. I honestly will feel sorry for any new readers who decide to read Naruto in the future and sees this ending.

The elements was there for NaruSaku to be canon yet Kishi blew it, it's not the character's fault.

 

All Kishi had to do is bring out again the POAL and maybe the chapter 3 and there, NaruSaku canon but he prefered to used the thank you of Sasuke about Sakura's part 1 confession...Da hell!

Such an ironic scene considering how your signature depicts Naruto's established parallel in a similar situation, but he's not satisfied or happy to see himself giving up on the girl that he loves. Instead he's doing everything he can to earn that attention from Rin and hopefully become more than just friends. Want to know something? He succeeded! Despite his appalling list of crimes, he never gave up on his desires or settled for a second place consolation. No, to Obito, Rin meant everything to him and at the end, even while his plans were crumbling around him and he was at the end of a knife from his enemy/old rival, he still managed to succeed in earning her love. 

 

In a way, Obito symbolises the fruits of perseverance and dedication to a cause more than Naruto ever has. I never thought I would say this, but Obito comes across as more respectable to me than Naruto (in a certain context, at least).

That's exactly how I feel... This ending leaves not just a mark on us, but anyone new who wants to try out this manga. The ending doesn't send the message that it should be sending.
