I learn that lesson last year (maybe longer). In younger years, I 'matchmaked' my own bff with my own classmate. They did date for about 7 years, and there is turbulence in that long voyage ofc. Last I get was the boy had declared in our class's whatsapp group to stop tease him with her because he was destined to marry off someone else now and preparing for it and all the blame was on him bla bla bla...I was like "ohh what had I done to my own closest buddies I feel so wrong because I set them up 8 years ago
![]()
"
Moral is, never to matchmake if you are uncertain what the future holds for the people.
I find matchmaking a voyeuristic pastime since you're setting up two people you know to have sex. Ewwwwwwwwww!

So who here have saw The Last?
I watched the cam version, but only in case someone would use the argument that "You haven't seen it, so you can't really comment on it."
Well now I have seen it and I will say that it has a great setup for what could have been an awesome finale to the series. It shows Naruto starting a family and it closes the Ootsutsuki storyline. It's just too bad that it's really all about Hinata.
So I've been thinking if there's something I'm missing. There has to be a deeper reason as to why Naruto suddenly falls in love with Hinata and not just "She's always been in love with me". But no, that's literally it. Naruto gets transported to that time when Iruka asked them to write down who they would spend be with if the world was ending. At first Naruto looks either annoyed or disinteredted by being all like "Oh. It's Iruka sensei.". Yeah sure. No big deal. He's only the first person who actually acknowledged your existence, but whatever. He then happens to walk by Hinata and then notices that she has written his name. This is where it all changes, like in that screenshot I posted earlier where Naruto states that "You've loved someone like me, forever and ever."
Now this is all well and good. I can understand why someone like Naruto, who used to be hated and scorned by everyone would react like that to discovering that all this time, there's been someone out there who loved him regardless of who or what he is. However the key phrase here is "used to". Naruto is no longer who he was back in early part 1. He has friends now. Friends who love him and would do anything to protect him and make sure that he's happy and safe. He is the hero of his village and he's basically ninja jesus.
Basically it all comes down to the same old argument. That Hinata has liked Naruto from the very beginning and that makes her special. However it's not about how long she has liked him but about what that did for him and how it actually helped him. If you want an answer to that, all you have to do is look in the manga. Here the ones who Naruto acknowledges as those helped him out of his lonely existance are Iruka, Sasuke, Kakashi and Sakura. While it's true that they all at one point looked down on or had a negative perception of him, they at least took the time to get to know him and spend time with him. Yes they may scolded him from time to time, but in the end it helped Naruto evolve not just as a ninja, but also as a person. That's what it means to have bonds.
I hate to sound petty, but logically Naruto's first thought upon learning that Hinata has always liked him should have been something along the lines of "Wait. If she's always been in love with me, why didn't she approach me. I was all alone and I could really have used a friend. Someone who acknowledged my existence."
Hinata is not a bad person. She's shy and I understand that that was the reason why she didn't approach him. However she still doesn't get any special points merely for not treating Naruto like dirt, like pretty much everyone else did at the time.
And that is why The Last is a bad movie. Not necessarily because it's a romance or because it's an NH movie. It's because of the poor execution of said romance.
It could have had Sakura reject Naruto and then showed how Hinata was there to heal Naruto's heart, but instead it tried to downplay Naruto and Sakura's relationship by not only making them seem distant, but also by trying to write it off as nothing more than a rivalry game. It doesn't matter that this makes both Naruto and Sakura seem like horrible people, as long as Hinata gets to be Naruto's "first love".
It could have had Naruto fall for Hinata based on her own mertis, either because of her apperance or something about her personality. It could then have showed Naruto and Hinata slowly getting to know each other and getting closer. Instead it opted to use guilt by making Hinata into a love martyr, because you see, she has always loved Naruto. Therefore he has to return her feelings.
At the end of the day, this movie is nothing more than SP wish fulfillment. It's clear that they worship Hinata more than anything else. It doesn't matter if Naruto is turned into a selfish a**hole or that Sakura, the heroine who has worked to hard to become Naruto and Sasuke's equal, is suddenly stripped of her title and showed aside. It doesn't matter that Sasuke, Naruto's most important bond, is basically forgotten. It doesn't matter that almost the entire canon is twisted to accomodate NH, because in the end that's all that matters.
This is not Naruto. This is not Sakura. This is not Sasuke. It's not even Hinata. This is SP's version of Naruto and even if Kishi had planned NH form the very beginning (which I don't believe), I don't think that this is how he had envisioned the ending, because it's a complete mockery of everything he spent 15 years building.

First Nicely said XD . But saying all of this actually hit me The Bolded : Why did Naruto thought in canon that Hinata is a Weirdo if he saw her writing his name he basically knew that Hinata was interested in him !? LOL I believe its another Retcon or he compared that to Ramen again . Of course this scene not being in the manga makes it be by default an Asspull & Retcon but still even by the scenarion they managed to kitten it up LOL .
And yes I agree that Naruto should have thought of that instead but its not him so he couldn't bc its all for the sake of Hinata's 'love and her feelings" . Hinata wasn't a bad person but she pretty much became one with being to selfish and single minded discarding everyone when Naruto is in question , especially her precious close people like her Family/Sister and Her Teammates she never concerns about their well being only about Nardo Kun - Nardo - Kun - Nardo Kun it makes her look so shallow and reflects so bad on her . But of course people will discard this just bc she looks innocent and shy , I'm sorry but that doesn't make her a good person but NH/Hinata fans fail to see this kitten they are just as single minded as their character .

SP never used fate for Sakura. That kanji meant simply life in japanese.
actually they have, remember the game with naruto and sakura as "fated love"?

Not true. The game has them listed as "originals" not "fated love".
