For my reasons please look into the new thread I'm creating. There will be spoilers for those who haven't seen it yet or the tv show. It's unavoidable.

Mediocre. Don't know why. Even the fight at the end felt... meh.
Cirque Due Freak: Vampire's Assistant 7/10
I liked it. It's feels very golden age Burton. I'm surprised Burton didn't kill to direct this. It fits his bill. Victim of it's timing. Trying to take advantage of the Twilight craze I believe it came out around the same time the first Twilight did... or was it the second one? I can't remember. But it does have it's own book series so it's not just some blatant rip off of Twilight. The basic story is a kid, named Darren (Chris Massoglia), goes to a Freak show and through a series of unfortunate events agrees to become a vampire named Mr. Crepsly's (John C. Reily) assistant to save the life of his friend who's been bitten by a deadly spider. It turns out Crepsley believes Darren is in trouble somehow and of course he is. Darren and his best friend, Steve (Josh Hutcherson) are destined to battle over the fates of the two vampire tribes the Vampires, those who sedate and then feed lightly on humans and Vampinese, who are the evil incarnation that suck their victims dry. For over a hundred years there's been a truce between the two tribes. A mysterious man named Mr Little played by the wonderful Michael Cerveris wants to stir the pot a little and the strange thing is that we never really know why, I guess it may be explained in the other books this movie is based on. But the actor believes so much in what he's doing that half the fun of watching this movie is trying to figure him out. So he enlists Steve by promising him power. He's the Sasuke of this friendship. All stuff goes awry. Now not only does Darren have to come to terms with being part vampire, leaving his family and life behind, and his struggle with whether or not he'll drink blood at all, he also has to either get through to his best friend to get him to change his alliances or ultimately defeat him in battle now that the war between the two tribes has been ignited.

Summer wars 9/10
Its an anime movie from the creators of the digimon movie.
The storyline is great and the setting on the japanese fields gave a really heathwarming feeling. It's the story of a school geek who is asked by the prettiest girl on the school to pretend to be her boyfriend to please her family during the vacations. Evryone is just funny and wonderfull, but there was a serious lack of development for the main couple, but overal, really great movie!

As a fan of action movies I can highly reccomend this film. it is awesome and full of win. a nice fun popcorn flick but not a dumb one.
in this film bruckheimer hits his second homerun in a row after Prince of Persia. If you loved Prince youll absolutel flip for this one. if you didnt like prince no worries this ones much better then Prince.
the pacing story plot and development were all top notch. the SFX were absolutley mind blowing that is how I envision a sorcerers duel happening. I loved the context of the sorcery as well, making it compatible with science without losing any of the ((pun slightly intended)) Magic of sorcery.
I actually disagree with one reviewer on one aspect. the comedy was hillarious, the momemts and dialogue comedy wise come fast and funny. the films apprentice is the only minor glitch for me, though I grant you considering what happens to him in the opening sequence of the movie its easy to see why hed be a bit lacking in self confidence.
and yes there is a moment at the end of the credits which you have to roll all the wya through to see featuring the iconic hat and a moment in the middle of the movie that pays glorious and hillarious homage to the original theatrical short from which the movie draws its namesake.
also for you parents out there mostly comic/cartoonish violence very low key, with only a few scary moments for kids and a couple of creppy villains with one scary one in the main villainess.
for you non parents lots of good clean fun and Nic Cage is at his best and does an as always solid job selling the character and the story.
all told a fun 10/10 and well worth seeing.
