You know, it truly amazes me how many fans are calling the 6th movie crap. I don't think that at all, it had a beautful message behind it, the fights were badass, and Naruto had some great speeches. It's easily the best one, better than anything Pierrot would dish out. Though tbh, I think some of it's hate is partly because of the large amount of Sakura focus and the NaruSaku scenes. Many NH fans are calling the movie kitten and rage-hating on it endlessly, it's just. facepalm.png

NH fans are glad Sakura goes through the same pain Naruto usually went through ('cause most of them hate her) yet immediately claiming that the movie is filler and it's still a dead ship despite Kishi's involvement. I just randomly went across several NH fans downplaying Sakura and NaruSaku in RtN, and very viciously. dry.gif

NaruHina fans, huh? laugh.gif

To be fair, if it were an NH focused movie, would we not also be downplaying its importance?

I can't say the same for others but speaking for myself, I wouldn't be that much. I'd heavily consider that NaruHina might be the pairing Kishi is aiming for but would not shout canon. Though from a logical standpoint, it would make more sense for a NH/SS-centered movie to be an example of trolling and kissing up to the fanbases before killing them off. Not that I'd be arguing this completely but it's just storytelling-wise.

I'd be about 50/50. Unless Hinata was the one kidnapped and chained up like Kushina with Naruto coming to save her. That would be a blatant MK parallel that was not needed in the slightest and would imply Kishi takes NH seriously.

Agreed. If RtN was actually supposed to be some kind of "send-off" to NS like other fandoms like to rationalize, then there really wouldn't be a point for Kishi to reinforce the NS/MK parallel so blatantly.

Yeah, that's the sad part about fandom. People won't like the movie, episode, or even the chapter if it's not in their favor. It's sadly true in most cases. This movie is no exception. Granted people can still dislike it, but don't dislike because of what you get that you don't want to see in terms pairing of all things. I have said this dozens of time: NS moments in the movie is just the extras stuff that I can enjoy more. Does it make the movie better? Yes and no. Yes, because it flows with the movie well and not really my fault that Kishi made Naruto and Sakura interact many times since they have a purpose. No, because I'm not going to say NS moments = best movie ever. Case in point, you win some, you lose some.

To add to that is something I've been thinking about, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it mentioned how the film was designed to appeal to those who have followed the story since the beginning and to still be enjoyed and understood by those who have never seen anything Naruto related before, if that's the case why no AU Sakura if it is some kind of send off to the pairing.

The movie does a good job of establishing how different the Konoha 11 and co are from their normal universe counterparts, so it establishes that whatever relationship Naruto has with them doesn't really mean anything since its not his Shikamaru or Hinata or Sasuke or whoever, its all fan service and comedy at the difference in personalities. Minato and Kushina are the exception as they are very close to their normal counterparts but its pretty clear that they aren't alive in Naruto's universe and the whole point of the movie is to give Naruto what he truly wants, at least for a time and to have him understand what it means and grow from it.

That just leaves Sakura who is obviously the real Sakura, just by being the real Sakura it puts so much importance on her and Naruto's relationship, unlike the rest of the Konoha 11 whatever interaction she has with Naruto rings true to the normal universe, put yourself in the shoes of someone who has never seen anything Naruto related in their life and they would go out of the film with an understanding of who Naruto and Sakura are and what their relationship is like to prepare them for reading the manga. They would get the exact opposite with Hinata and co it tells them that they are nothing like what they saw.

So if the film is some kind of send of why use the real Sakura, really when you break the story down to its most basic form of Naruto experiencing what its like to have a family you really don't need Sakura or at least the real one, the secondary main character role could have been filled by AU Sakura and not a whole lot would have been lost so why have the real one, why have her grow just as much as Naruto, why put so much importance into their relationship and why blatantly show them as MinaKushi 2.0, why advertise the creator's participation in the development of the film to such a degree that it did if in a few months that relationship completely changes in the manga, that would totally confuse any new readers and send a completely different message than what they saw in RtN.

Going to be a devil's advocate here:
Almost all movies/videogames in a series advertise themselves as "a great place for new fans to start," so it may just be part of the marketing. tongue.gif

I do believe it was in the interviews with Kishi were he mentioned approaching the film as understandable by fans so if it was just marketing than it feels so hollow but you are right it could just be marketing speak. Still it really makes no sense to me to use real Sakura if you don't intend new fans to take anything from the story and her and Naruto's relationship.

  • Interests:Honestly, western sakura haters are pathetic (if your wondering why I say western, its because thats where all the sakura haters are) they hate sakura for the stupidest reasons, makes me wonder if they even read the manga for anything besides illogically hating on her, and even more so if they even read the same manga. Seriously they really are blind if they think sakura isn't the most popular female character in naruto and has a huge fanbase in japan, kishimoto-sensie's main fanbase. Honsetly, they aren't true naruto fans because they're practically bashing the main heroine of the series who has had AMAZING and deep emotional development, both romace-wise , character-wise and-power wise, and the love interest, Haruno sakura, of the main hero, Uzumaki Naruto. That alone is an insult to kishimoto-sensie's work. Not to mention they rub off the japanese culture, which is important to know if you wanna 100% understand the details of the manga.

My hobbies are drawing, and reading awesome facts about anything I love! Oh and how could I forget, I love playing on my PS3, my favourite online game is Team Fortress 2, favourite character to play with is the scout! (Although I love all of 'em).

Wow gotta say, no anime can bring the tears quite like Naruto. Great movie, great development. Characters seemed OOC for the start, but that was the point, Kishi wanted to develop them through the movie.

1. NaruSaku = Starts out like a silly romantic comedy then becomes really deep as they switch their life's around. By the end, when Sakura jumped in and fought Madara 1 on 1, really awesome. This movie made this pairing soo much more desirable.

2. Naruto's parents = This was really good. Takes a lot of deep stuff to make me cry, but this movie did it with the interaction between Naruto and his parents.

5/5 stars here, wish the animation were a little better at parts like the other Naruto movies, but its really smooth and looks great by the end of the movie.

Great job Kishi : )

That means that you might not be a One Piece fan, you only need to watch Luffy and Shank's flashback, Nami, Choper, Vivi, Nico Robin, Sanji, etc. when you watch those character stories it makes your heart soft, when we are talking about deep emotional stories Oda will be a King in a 1 on 1 battle against Kishimoto.

Well, I do find Naruto's stuff really nice and emotional at times. But yes, if you need more of those that really equals if not surpass, which in this case surpass, that's One Piece. All flashbacks have something to feel and all of them were downright emotional. Chopper, good god, where do I begin with that one. I recommended it.

I've gotta say, this movie was pretty awesome! Even though I watched it without the subs (and may have to re-watch it subbed so I can get the full deal), I could understand the basic gist of the story through the animation. The plot was decent and meeting the AU! characters were awesome (I'm still laughing at AU! Sai's character laugh.gif and Shino still gets ignored th_7eyytubokky7rehok1k.gif ). I loved the narusaku interaction, the re-showing of their relationship from the movie's beginning to end was a wonderful summary of their relationship form the manga. I also liked Kishi's comedic moments within the movie, such as Kushina knocking down Naruto's barricaded door and subsequently scaring the crap out of him, the K11 hot-springs scene (especially AU! Lee stealing Sakura's underwear - and I am assuming that's what Lee did based on Sakura's reaction), and for some apparent reason after Menma basically destroyed the leaf, one of the few things that came out unscathed was the vault that Tsunade used to store Jiraiya's scroll in. The sheer irony that everything else got destroyed except the vault, and the fact that the vault failed to serve it's purpose just made me chuckle.

Even though, the movie was awesome, it did have some downsides.
1. There was not that much interaction with the AU! characters, I would have liked to have more comedic scenes with the AU! cast and maybe have them fight too just so we can see if they have different fighting styles than the originals.

2. More scenes with Menma - Kishi did a great job with Menma and keeping him a mystery within the plot until the mask came off in the climax, but I would have loved him more if we had more scenes with him that would subtly explain his past and motives (I think since I watched the movie without subs Kishi might have included those hints within dialouge).

All in all, this movie was great, I give it a 9/10.

One last thought: Who else had this reaction when they saw Sakura in her bloomers?

That means that you might not be a One Piece fan, you only need to watch Luffy and Shank's flashback, Nami, Choper, Vivi, Nico Robin, Sanji, etc. when you watch those character stories it makes your heart soft, when we are talking about deep emotional stories Oda will be a King in a 1 on 1 battle against Kishimoto.

One piece is by far the number one anime that will take you on so many emotional roller coasters. In the 20yrs I've been watching anime I've never come across a story that would make you laugh cry and jump for joy when the hero saves the day. It does such great story telling that I can swear I'm right there with the mugiwara pirates on their grand adventure.

Oda makes you cry for the death of a ship..... A SHIP! laugh.gif

That pretty much tells you the high level of quality he possesses for storytelling.

Great review. For the record, Lee stole TenTen's underwears. laugh.gif I felt the same too. Cough.

Well, I was going to hold that spoiler but the words are out. Yes, if he can make you feel emotional for that, then you know he's doing it right. I remember seeing it and I was thinking myself, I can't believe this is the ship that I had an adventure with. Then, when you hear it saying sorry, I choked.
