- At the very beginning of Part 2 she blushes and admires Naruto
- Has her showing increased worry about Naruto
- Has her running toward him in kyuubi mode with disregard of her safety
- Has Sai comment about her gentleness towards Naruto
- Has Yamato say that her feelings for Naruto are what's most important
- Has her trying to feed Naruto
- Has her screaming for him to come back and save Konoha
- Has her hugging him in front of all of the village
- Has her cry for causing Naruto pain
- Has her confess to ease Naruto's pain
- Has her try to kill the one she loves for Naruto's sake
Whether with positive or negative moments their relationship has developed in a pretty notable way. Sakura went from hating Naruto to respecting him, to trusting him, to deeply caring for him. So even if Naruto ends up with Hinata from my point of view their relationship will never be on the same level as the one Naruto has with Sakura.
If Naruto starts loving Hinata it won't look as if he gradually came to love her, it would just look like he decided to suddenly change his mind. If Naruto was to now be loving Hinata then he better have a pretty good reasoning for it to happen and disregard the precious bond he had with Sakura. Naruto is not one to abandon his bonds and the bond he has with Sakura is one of the love he feels for her.
Naruto is always depicted as the one that will never change no matter how hard the odds are. Naruto is not Naruto if he changes his perspectives. Naruto is not the one that's supposed to change his mind about anything, he's the one that should make the mind changing. If Naruto will always consider Sasuke as his brother, then why can't he always consider Sakura as his love? Is Naruto's bond with Sakura really that weak? I don't think it is.
If I would've gotten any clue that Naruto would change his feelings then him getting together with Hinata would come off as stronger, but instead we get:
- Naruto looking heartbroken for seeing Sakura hug Sasuke, showing the extent of his love for her.
- Him leaving them alone since he wants to give Sakura happiness. Tsunade even points out that Naruto is more mature than he looks, therefore defining his love as serious and not a mere crush.
- Naruto giving Sakura the promise of a lifetime. This shows again how much he loves her and wants her to be happy.
- Naruto being in a lovely awe at Sakura's improved abilities at the beginning of part 2.
- Naruto's constant praises of Sakura's abilities.
- Naruto blushing at the thought of Sakura feeding him.
- Naruto admitting he loves Sakura and not being able to confess because he can't fulfill his promises.
- Naruto in shock at Sakura's confession to the point that he told her to say it again thinking he misheard her.
In no interaction that Naruto has had with Hinata so far has it been implied that he might view her as someone he could love, even his expression while he holds her hand is completely serious.

THIS!
Naruto feelings for Sakura is part of his character, It's something that was introduced to us since from the very begin. NaruSaku development completely fits with the story as well. If Kishi is really trying to make NH canon without even bother to give a proper resolution to Naruto's feelings is something so... incoherent that is hard to me believe that he really trying to do this. Destroy Naruto's nindo and character as well, make Naruto get over Sakura but not Sasuke, destroy Sakura's character (cuz that would pass the message that her character doe n't deserve the protagonist and again, he didn't give up Sasuke even after everything he's done, but he will give up of Sakura ... ) is Kishi willing to sacrifice all this for a pairing?, if he wants so much that NH becomes canon ... he has his entire manga to give to this couple a possibility to become canon without destroy his own work , but he didn't. If NH will become... it will forced in the last arc and out of nowhere. If he can suddenly change his mind and do whatever he wants, without even bother about what he built for all these years ...then what is the meaning for writing this for all this time? .. we just need to buy the last volume of the manga since it seems that what happen in the middle of the manga doesn't matter.

Oh but please do exactly that. Never fear that you would offend me or confound my poor brain. You have something to say to me, say it. Think my logic is poor, explain why so. Think I'm talking nonsense. Tell me so with examples from manga to illustrate your point. Don't shy away. This is a discussion forum after all. Honestly, I doubt you have a lot to say to me expect call me silly and insult my lack of logic again and again. I don't blame you for being upset about the series but you could still have enough respect for your fellow commenters to actually have a discussion rather than just insults. Thanks.

Actually, I could see a believable NH scenario like this:
Remember the infamous "I like people like you" during the chuunin exams arc?? well, that time Hinata was trying to cheer him up and root for him and she even said she believed in him defeating Neji, because she knew he was strong, if I recall correctly. I could see it as her trying to inspire him like he always used to with her. And she did it again this chapter.
So, if Naruto decides Hinata is "the one", it would go like this:
Naruto remembers what Hinata said back then and decides her to be "the one" because she has always pushed him up when he falls. He'll realize that's how he needs someone for him to lean on when he falls. And that person is Hinata. Both times, she was there for him. So, that's probably what would make NH canon.

The family that couldn't be.

Sakura tried saying something similar to that in her confession to Naruto. It didn't work.

I mean seriously, she (Sakura) tried to share his burden. But when the time comes Hinata steals that thunder. A fine job you did, Kishimoto.

This just make realize that for NH to be canon it need huge ammounts of asspulls.
Plot going downhill.
The complaints were not about Hinata,NH or whatever but the quality of the plot going downhill, i thought Naruto learned about this on Pain's arc, his father and mother speech, Itachi talking about sacrifice and comrades, Bee, etc.
It was like none of that happened.
He simply became the Naruto of the begining of Shippuuden in a matter of seconds.

Having read ch 615 for a moment I was worried for NS. Then I read the chapter over again carefully. Thinking about the past in the manga and what just transpired. Now I'm not worried. Here's why.
1. Kishimoto has a habit of playing his fanbase. The Pain arc and following land or Iron arc made that clear. With Hinata's confession being rapidly followed by a hug then Sakura's pseudo confession. Possible outcomes from this? Well it could be entirely genuine. However I think (and hope) that Kishi is dangling the proverbial carrot in front of the proverbial donkey before throwing it away.
2. That single box with Sakura in it. Her face is in my opinion surprised slightly uncertain. A combination of Hinata's sudden boldness and closeness to Naruto. (Slapping him, holding his cheek and the pep talk.) The uncertainty there is possibly more a hope on my part. But if it is there she is uncertain what she feels about Hinata getting so close to Naruto. The start of jealousy perhaps. Also the fact that Sakura gets a box given for her reaction says something.
3. Sakura needs a push. I mean a real push to get her to realize what Naruto may be to her. That would require him to be much closer to dying then he has ever been before, Naruto to actually die or for there to be some actual competition for Naruto. Enter Hinata.
4. Neji's death. This may seem unrelated to parings and it both is an isn't it more leads into the next point. Anyway Neji's death is the focal point of the interaction between Naruto and Hinata. Because of the loss of a friend Naruto would naturally feel vulnerable and he would be more sensitive with Hinata with her having lost the person who is essentially her brother in all but relation. So the entire thing could be the result of high strung emotions and our possible misunderstandings of it coming from Nartuo's use of metaphors and imagery. ("I'm never letting this hand go." Could just be him saying he's never letting this connection to everyone go.)
On a less pairing related note, if you think about it Neji's death has been considerably foreshadowed. The Neji Zetsu clone can be considered as such. However the kicker is way back in the Chunin Exams. When he revealed the bird cage seal. Particularly the fact it disappears on death. I think Kishi planned Neji dying all the way back then. The reason being he needed a means that confirmed the person was dead without them having to be checked and that would be able to be visible during the required last words. Thus Neji's ultimate role was to die. Show Naruto he can't save anyone. Break his resolve and open the gates for Hinata.
5. Roles. Specifically Hinata's and Sakura's. Sakura is meant to be the heroine of the story as well as being the main Romantic interest. Though she is not a vert good heroine at first and as a romantic interest... Well from my experience with anime she's quite plain for a romantic interest, excepting her hair, but that's part of her charm. She's not that special she's probably the most realistic character in the entire series in my opinion. As for peoples complaints that she beats Naruto? Originally I think it was Sakura coping with her own insecurity and lack of belief in herself and in Shippuden it is more for comedic effect and comes from a more Tsundere attitude from her so I don't think people can use this as a negative as it happens a lot in anime. Ranma, Zero No Tsukaima and ookami-san to shichinin no nakama-tachi to name some of the top of my head. Also logically with Sakura being the Heroine she should be paired with the Hero. Admittedly this is not always done, which is one of the reasons people give in support of NH.
Hinata's role is much less defined. To be honest though I liked her character (I was originally a NH supporter) looking back she didn't seem to have a reason to be there other than stutter, crush on Naruto and be an example of the harshness of her clan before the time skip. After the time skip she wasn't much better though she was upgraded to a potential Love rival with her 'growth'. Now though her role is much clearer. Yes she is a potential paring for Naruto but that's not her main role. She's there to inspire Naruto on at that desperate moment when Neji brought the farm. Going back to much earlier I'll explain how I came to that conclusion. Hinata has been inspired by Naruto. Wanting to emulate him to help him. That inspiration allowed her to grow in confidence and has cured her stutter (I wonder how many people noticed that amid the pairing wars and character deaths.). Her belief in him that stems from that and the inspiration he gave her is what allows her to slap Naruto and give him that inspirational speech. in simpler terms she is being the Naruto who inspires people onward and to be better for the one person who doesn't benefit from that Naruto himself. Like Neji's death I think Kishi had this planned out.
6. Now I'm getting into the old arguments. First up. Kushina. This one I've heard and read about alot. It has been done over and over again. So I'll keep it short. Sakura fits the description of a girl like Kushina that says Naruto should get as a girlfriend. While Hinata has been repeatedly been called weird which Kushina told Naruto to avoid. Considering it was the one occasion that he met his mother Naruto is unlikely to forget it. However. It could also be Kishi trolling the readers again. I'm also going to add Heaven and Earth bridge with this excerpt. Major score for NS fans it may be Yamato never finished his sentence that said NS fans assumptions are probably right.
7. Naruto has good instincts. I think he knew what he needed from the get go. Naruto has too much energy and is to put it simply an idiot he needed someone to balance him out and keep him in line Sakura fit that person. And here is where this sites name comes from. Heaven and Earth. Though mentally he can find himself challenged a lot of the time he is strong in body. Representing earth. Sakura was and still is strong in mind was weak in body. Representing heaven. Though both have improved on their weaker side they still fit that representation rather strongly. While Hinata seems quite balanced. Also I don't think Hinata would be able to keep Naruto in line like Sakura could.
8. Hinata has a possible pairing other than Naruto. Sakura does as well but it doesn't seem logically possible. Though I'll get some hate for saying this. Hinata has Kiba as an alternate option. Yes Sakura has Sasuke but it won't happen and to be honest there is no real love there anymore more a longing attachment to an old rose tinted dream but no real love. That and Sasuke is probably going to end up dead.
I'll leave it at that. This is already long enough that some people will just go TL;DR at it and to be honest I'd just start droning. Please remember when you reply that this is my opinion based on what I know from canon. There is not need to rage or flame me and I have tried to be reasonably balanced and have avoided aggressively blasting any parings while writing this. So tell me what you think.
Man all i have to say is AWSOME post, kudos to you for this spectacular post, i agree with ya all the way, everything you said is logical and has the manga facts to back it up.This post is just full of win eh!!!

Thank you so much for your kind words. To be honest I wasn't sure how well it would be received as I'm rather new to forums in general. It was the product of discussions with my two younger sibling, another with a fellow fanfiction author, my own musings and a few things I read. I actually have one or two other reasons supporting NS in reserve for example The Theory of Trio's. Speaking of fanfiction I should probably get back to my own stories.

I have a hard time believing that Sakura would view Sasuke as some romance hero who has hardly done anything wrong. She tried to kill him because she thought he had gone too far. She temporarily gave up hope of ever getting him back. She knew he was tempted by promises of power from Oro. That is why she was waiting for him by that road back in the days of Sasuke retrieval. She doesn't think him in great light in ch 540, either. I think Sakura knows full well what Sasuke is like, how dark and messed-up. She just loves him anyway.
