It would have been a nice moment because Naruto actually likes Sakura. That would have made it canon.

Naruto doesn't like Hinata so it's just awkward.

A colored pic of the last panel came across Facebook this morning.
I noticed in it they decided to make Sakura's seal red instead of purple...could tie in beautifully to the red thread of fate/ wide charming forehead scenario if this turns out to be accurate. I guess we'll have to wait for a color spread from Kishi.

Also, I know everyone has figured out that Naruto's summon is Gamakichi so he doesn't have the pipe his father smoked. However in the picture it doesn't quite look like a cigarette, it looks more like pocky to me. This could just be the coloring but I remember someone stating that Kishi didn't want to encourage kids to do things that were bad for them i.e. drinking smoking. So wondering if this is one generation surpassing the next again. What do you guys think?

I mentioned that in the chapter 631 discussion as well. It seems to imply that Kishi is capitalizing on concepts he established back at the beginning of the manga. Although they have been reworked somewhat like Sasuke being the character to fight against Naruto for the Hokage position instead of Konohamaru and the design of Sakura's slug summoning receiving an impressive artistic upgrade since it was first depicted in the cover art back in P1.

 

It makes you wonder if Kishi already had Sasuke in mind when Naruto made that statement to Konohamaru back in chapter 2. It's possible that his original intention might have been to have Konohamaru fight against Naruto at the end of the manga but with Sasuke's implementation into the story he assumed the role of rival instead.

I'd like that to be pocky, I'm quite anti smoking since my brother has an eye issue due to my mother smoking during her pregnancy -.- .

Perhaps the final arc will be featuring a Chuunin exam kind of event with the winner becoming hokage. XD seriously though I never considered that very seriously more like at the point where Naruto would become hokage they would have another spar (Naruto and Konohamaru).

 

Konohamaru would eventually lose and say that Naruto better watch out because if he slacks off that he'll catch up with him and take the position from him.

The slug looks identical to Katsuyu. The slug in a cover was pink, I wish this one could be too. It was coloured white, should've been grey.

Ok, so basically she said she wants to continue standing beside naruto?...umm *eye roll* what..?

I used to love Hinata, I saw so much potential for her in the Chunnin exams..but after her encounter with Naruto in the training ground I was like "wait what....I thought you were done doing that" (Mind you this was before I was interested in pairings) and She barely progressed, its like Slextrem said in one of her videos, shes always following the same pattern 2 steps forward 3 steps back

 

Personally all pairings aside I find it pretty lame how all the characters who are put in the spotlight seem to develop and change for the better except her.

 

We have Ino-Shika-Cho who pretty much blossomed against Asuma and are dedicated to protecting each other and the alliance, Not only have their individual abilities grown but their teamwork is next to flawless. 

 

I dont even need to say much for Team 7 as despite being away so long they are in perfect Synch, its nostalgic sure but very inspirational and exactly what the alliance needs, proper role-models leading the charge.

 

Team Kurenai is perhaps the least developed as already stated but I personally find it annoying how they don't have any clear goals, Hinata's after Naruto's kitten...Kiba wants to be Hokage but that was established way back, Shino is ehh...I can't even remember what he wanted to achieve. 

 

This whole chapter imo was meant to be Kishimoto's way of showing development and I have to say he failed to deliver in some characters, 

 

As for Hinata's comments (from a pairing perspective) its simply a means to add more fuel to the flames, he basically shot down NH with Minato...he had to do something to allow it's fandom to not quit the manga because lets be realistic...I'm 98% sure the crazy, obsessed ones would leave the manga if Hinata or NH were killed in 1 swift swoop (Minato was more of a violent assault on the street). Although for the sake of a fandom he's compromising one of his characters.

Maybe the Kages are inside Katsuyu, it happened in the Pain arc when she protected the villagers from the Shinra Tensei.

 

That is if it is Katsuyu.

 

Maybe there is only one slug because she can split herself up anyway.

Does Sakura need to know about Tsunade right now? She should focus on fighting with Naruto and Sasuke.

I won't lose my hope until I see Tsunade past away, until then I would always believe she will make it out alive someway somehow.

This^ agreed completely with you James. Hinata has become a very predictable and repetitive character. Because you know when there's a panel showing her then we know she's going to be thinking about Naruto as always. It has become repetitive that eventually it becomes tiring and annoying. I feel like Kishimoto could care less about her character since she's not important to the story she's like an add-on like buying something from the Playstation Network but on manga terms, an add on that isn't important to add at all to the story. The fact she hasn't changed with her Naruto obsession it could very much mean Kishi isn't going to bother developing her character for the better. He might as well leave her the way she is and when he's done with the story just show an epilogue showing a panel of her ruling over the Hyuuga clan but not giving any details of her character or if she got marry. Who knows he might not show her at all if he does chooses to make an epilogue.

Its really obvious that kishi doesnt care about hinatas character, and honestly I couldnt care less. Masashi has finished hinatas character as of the latest chapter, her feelings have been resolved and she obviously heard naruto calling sakura his girlfriend and sakura not denying it and good riddance I always say.

About the epilogue, yeah hinata wont be featured, maybe in the background.

Haha new slug attack is kage-no-jutsu xD. I'm thinking now that it's a different slug but we will see. We have seen different snakes and frogs so I hope there is more than just Katsuyu for the slugs.

I dont think that slug is Katsuyu... See her face... If you compared to that's Katsuyu you'll notice that they're a little different... For example, Katsuyu has those two lilttle antennes alongside of her mouth.

Instead this slug summoned from Sakura doesn't have two little antennes alongside of her mouth but two small holes...

the fact is that Katsuyu has only 2 antennes. This slug not only have 2 antennes but also two holes near her mouth.. Katsuyu doesn't have those two holes...

Since the discussion appears to have become related to slugs I'm curious to hear what others here have to say about Sakura's involvement in the upcoming chapters. Is she going to act primarily as a medic from now on or will she continue the offensive alongside Naruto and Sasuke? If the slug she summoned is in any way similar to Tsunade's Katsuyu then it should be capable of using acid-based attacks.
