I guess it was just to add something extra to both Konan and Yahiko, some new sides to them both, to make them somewhat more connected and richer characters (if you can say that with such small side characters) with many different kinds of relationships with different characters. Their affair cost Kishi nothing more but couple of panels so it's not like he had to go out of his way to write it. With this simple addition he gained some depth to Konan and Yahiko.

But they're dead so it doesn't matter. Anyways, on a logical note.

Why would Kishi make Sakura Naruto's love interest if he wasn't going to get them together? Hinata was made after the whole ending was finalized, so why would he end up with her?

She's an outsider, and isn't part of Team 7. The same could be said about Karin/Any other Sasuke ship, but it's not about Sasuke, it's about Naruto and his dreams/desires.

it's a story with the previous chapters still existing to be read. There are entire characters in this story whom we never met on-page while they were alive. Like Minato and Kushina. There is nothing unusual about writers adding depth to characters already dead.

While Sasuke is important, it's not the same as Naruto. We don't support Sasuke like Naruto because his goal is evil and selfish. I can go on but it's Christmas Eve here, so I'm busy at the moment. It's clear that Kishi made Sasuke into a character that we know that he's in wrong route. Search for Itatchi Arc was the most crucial one for hime and rightfully so, because that's where his path was determined. So yeah, we got nothing to support Sasuke, rather support Naruto to at least snap out of him or for me, beat the crap out of him so he can't stop acting like he's #1. I won't be surprise he would go Vegeta on us from Buu Saga, where he finally admits that Goku is the best in the world. Anyway, until Kishi said support Sasuke, I'm not buying it.

How? Have you seen the amount of pages Sasuke gets? All the characters like team Taka who have pretty much been created just to revolve around Sasuke? The way Sasuke's won the only proper fight he had with Naruto? The way Naruto wants Sasuke back more than he wants anything else?

Edit. It's not really about whether you support Sasuke or not. You are not supposed to, I agree. That however changes nothing when it comes to Sasuke's importance to the story.

The manga is named Naruto. He's the main character and the person we're supposed to support. Sasuke is a part of him; his best friend and comrade. For him to save Sasuke will allow him to become Hokage and tell Sakura how he feels, thus making NS canon. Kishi said he isn't good at making romance; the easiest route is making Sakura fall for Naruto, not Naruto fall for Hinata/Sasuke fall for Sakura. Both of the boys haven't expressed anything beyond friendship/teamwork to the girls, even 600+ chapters in.

I get the appeal of SasuSaku as a pairing, but not as a canon pairing, especially after the Kage Summit arc. It's just bad taste to support something that basically promotes domestic violence and hatred. Sasuke literally doesn't care about Sakura; for him to suddenly fall in love with her would be folly and OOC beyond belief. Same with Naruto; his love for Sakura is part of his character, no ifs ands or buts.

540? Bro/Sis, look at Sakura's face. She's unhappy as kitten. Then look at whenever she interacts with Naruto in part 2. She's happy as balls/she looks surprised when he says stuff.

Happiness vs. Angst. The decision is pretty much obvious. Also, NH isn't a thing. 'NH moments' are all Hinata fanservice/development. Nothing suggests Naruto---->Hinata besides friendship and comradeship.

Sasuke not only has more pagetime but when he does the story is about him (not about Sasuke healing someone in the background like Sakura in the latest chapters) and he takes the central stage. He has more character backstory and development than Sakura or Kakashi. He has more fights and the fights are bigger too. when he is not around the manga still manages to bring him up and make him an important part of the plot. He doesn't appear in the Hidan arc for example but Naruto keeps mentioning Sasuke like all the time in that arc.

Of course she loves him. But it's clearly not happy. The logical choice would be Naruto for her to fall in love with after she gets over Sasuke. Kishi said in a recent intwerview we should continue supporting Naruto (the character). That's exactly what I'm doing, and what we all should be doing. You can't deny Naruto's love for Sakura.

IMO, SasuSaku=NaruHina in terms of development. It's an infatuation, nothing more, nothing less.

Sasuke can disappear for ages and during that time Naruto has time to sit around remembering his kiss with Sasuke, to hear his mom remember how she met baby Sasuke and promise Itachi to look after Sasuke. When was the last time we saw Naruto think about Sakura when she wasn't around?

As i said before, im not talking about the fights, im talking about screentime. And sakura has just more screentime then sasuke in part 2. Whenever we see naruto, we also see sakura, at least untill the war arc.

Take into account 2 things.
1) Sakura is not nearly as powerful as Sasuke, do not assume she is.
2) you admit that Sasuke makes her unhappy, do you want Sakura to be unhappy?
