I guarantee people would be complaining if Bolt was the main character. I mean does anyone here actually care about Bolt?

I mean, I care about him as much as I care about Salad. Why should her extremely contrived and bland storyline make her any more interesting?

I never said that her storyline is more interesting than Boruto's. All I'm saying is that her being the focal point is not really the problem, since we know the alternatives aren't any better.

 

The problem lies with the execution and the writing more than the concept.

You who are you? says Sasuke while aiming his sword at Caesar Salad.

Salad: Oh Sasuke-Kun, I finally got to meet my father. (Yes even his daughter will call him "Sasuke-kun")

Sasuke: What? What are you talking about girl, I'm not your father. I don't have a kid.

Salad: Yes you do mom talked about you many times, she told me you are my father. We even have family pictures together (even though they're fake).

Sasuke: Your mother? Who's that?

Salad: Your wife Sakura.

Sasuke: My what now? I'm not married woman. I haven't seen Sakura since the day I left, besides how can you be her daughter when you don't even look like her. Seriously who are you?

Naruto: She's your daughter man, you and Sakura are her parents.

Sasuke: What the hell did that stalker did to you? I know you're dumb but come on, you can't possibly look at this girl and tell me Sakura is her mother. She resembles Karin.

Salad: Who's Karin? Is that the girl with glasses?

ChoCholina: Are you my father?

Sasuke: Now who the kitten are you?

ChoCholina: You're handsome, you are definitely my father.

Sasuke: Ok I think I need to go now.

 

 

 

Yeah I know it's stupid but at this point do we even question the logic behind this spin-off.

 

LOL I swear this is too funny!   And it's funny because it's true. Sasuke seriously deserves a father-of-the-year award. But hey, maybe he knows she might be his daughter. You see, he's not actually attacking Sarada or anything, it's just how he shows affection, calling people names, accusing and trying to kill them. He did it to Sakura all the time and he loves her very much. Right?

I really don't understand why he keeps even a remnant of the NS bond in tact despite that kitten ending. To add insult to injury, the bond between Naruto and Sarada is like the bond between a father and daughter. What a joke.

Edit: also, it's funny, Naruto apparently said salad acts like sakura, which she doesn't, they have nothing in common, but the databook said that she has the same personality as Sasuke...

So what I’ve gathered from Naruto Gaiden Chapter #4 

 

1. The Ninja world has been peaceful for a long time and Naruto hasn’t had to fight seriously (using Kurama at least) probably for years (I still wonder for how long Kurama has been asleep after the war, but who knows if Kishimoto will ever answer such doubts).

The new generation also hasn’t seen him fight, apparently, if Chouchou’s reaction is anything to go by. 

I’m not gonna make assumptions about Shin, so let’s go on. 

2. Sarada is basically developing a crush on Naruto

3. Naruto and Sarada don’t know each other well. Naruto doesn’t know that Sarada doesn’t remember Sasuke, that she basically doesn’t know anything about her father except what he looked like 12 years before. Sarada on the other hand doesn’t know how to refer to Naruto

They apparently haven’t ever had a chance to get to know each other and that’s pretty strange considering that she’s (supposedly) the daughter of Naruto’s best friends. Then again he doesn’t even have time for his own son. It just makes me wonder about Naruto’s relationship with Sakura also because 

4. Naruto doesn’t call Sakura “Sakura-chan” anymore. I haven’t seen the Japanese scans so I’m not 100% sure, but it didn’t appear in the translation. Now, I know that they are a bit too grown up to still use “-chan” but still, I wonder when and how the shift happened. 

5. Naruto’s expression when Sarada shows him Boruto’s bento.

What is this even about? Are you telling me that he refused Boruto’s bento in chapter 3 (because he refused it, he knew Boruto was coming with it and run away anyway) because he couldn’t help recalling his Team 7 days, when he shared his bento with his teammates? This puts a shadow on Naruto’s family. A huge one. He looks… unhappy. Hinata looked unhappy in Boruto’s thoughts in the 3rd chapter. Kishimoto could have chosen to make her smile in her son’s memory, but she looked sad instead. There seems to be something extremely wrong in Naruto’s family dynamics. 

6. Naruto is the one explaining about Sasuke instead on Sakura. Sakura couldn’t even remember if Sasuke wore glasses while Naruto immediately went “Sasuke doesn’t wear glasses” in this chapter. Troll Kishimoto striking again.

also, am I the only one who feels like Naruto looks nostalgic/sad while speaking about Sasuke? He’s happy to speak about him, but at the same time… look at his face in the left panel :/ He totally misses the old times with Sasuke (despite them still being in contact now). I wonder for how long they haven’t seen each other. Considering how he reacted to Sarada not remembering anything about Sasuke, it seems like he personally HAS meet him in the past 12 years. He probably is the only person from Konoha who has met Sasuke in the past 12 years. 

Naruto also says that Sarada behaves like Sakura but I don’t really agree? As I said in point 3 he probably hasn’t had much contact with Sarada in the past, so how did he come to that conclusion? It looks to me like Sarada acts more like little Sasuke did than Sakura, especially how she acts around Naruto reminds me of how Sasuke used to act around Itachi. I seriously don’t see Sakura at all in Sarada.

7. Sarada supposedly activates her Sharingan by imagining herfirst meeting reunion with Sasuke. She imagines to hug him, so her Sharingan first activates out of love (instead of hatred). Now, I’ve seen people going “how cute” “that’s the first time it happens” but seriously, the first time Sasuke activated his Sharingan was when he had to protect Naruto from Haku. Sasuke activated his Sharingan out of love too. Like uzumakijpeg mentioned in this post “sasuke activated his sharingan from dormancy solely because of his love for and desire to protect naruto bye” Get your facts straight please. 

8. Sasuke doesn’t recognize his daughter. Does he know he has a daughter at all? Naruto speaks like Sarada is really Sasuke and Sakura’s daughter so it doesn’t make sense that Sasuke doesn’t know. Unless Sakura lied to everyone. And that actually reminds me of the rumors going around about Sakura’s novel. Is Sarada really Sasuke’s daughter? Is she Sasuke’s clone daughter? As for now she looks more Sasuke’s than Sakura’s, but nothing would surprise me anymore to be honest X’D If he knows he has a daughter, his reaction can only indicate that he hasn’t seen her for a long time. That nobody ever sent him a picture and he never asked for one. 

So what I’ve ultimately got from chapter 4 of Gaiden is that both SS and NH families are kittened up, everyone still wants Sasuke, and Sasuke still only cares about Naruto.

Well Tobirama did state the The Uchiha are an emotional clan and that's how they unlock the sharingan.

Well Tobirama did state the The Uchiha are an emotional clan and that's how they unlock the sharingan.

No, he said the sharingan awakens after an intense feeling of hatred. That review above is wrong, Sasuke didn't awaken the sharingan during the Haku fight, he got it handed to him when he talked with Itachi after Itachi murdered his clan.
