That explains why Sakura acts like a complete Naruto fangirl- calling him Naruto kun, etc... That's one of my annoyances about Sakura's characterization in some narusaku fanfics- the only thing worse is all the bashing fics where she's a shrew, using Naruto for sex, and is still a rabid Sasuke fangirl.

Once the writer had Sakura acting like a complete Naruto fangirl he lost my interest. Becoming friends, then Naruto's girlfriend in the Academy would have drawn out the personality we see in Sakura in part 2 much earlier, not enlarged her fangirling persona- just transferred to Naruto.

I agree with you ciardha I like reading a story but the characters have to stay to their original canon manga personalities. I don't like when they make Sakura an annoying Sasuke fan girl b**** because I hate when they bash Sakura (I hate Sakura bashing stories) I also don't like when they make her a Naruto fan girl it's already worst that she was made into a Sasuke fan girl by Kishi during part 1. For example my story NBPK Sakura calls Naruto "Naruto-kun" but she doesn't act like a fan girl with him she sees him as her best friend since childhood and they are times she blushes at him but she doesn't act like an annoying fan girl. I have made Sakura following the footsteps of part 2 Sakura but being very close and having deep strong feelings for Naruto (not wanting to admit it because she's afraid she will ruin her friendship with him due that she believes he doesn't feel the same for her). Along that I'm developing the pairing very slowly they won't become an official couple in a while since I'm about to write chapter 16 soon.

Point is I'm not use to read stories where characters are OC especially Naruto and Sakura.

I guess I will have to agree with you I kind of lost interest in this story I might read it when he updates but I won't be leaving him reviews. I guess most of us don't like his story.

This is where that whole "To each their own" saying comes in. I'm reading Flashing Dagger as well, and I'm enjoying it greatly. I think you just need to like dark tones and not care much about OOC moments. Fanfiction that follows canon blindly is somewhat boring, after all.

Normally i'd agree with you, but in this story the OOC doesn't even make sense, Naruto had a better upbringing because he made friends with someone so if anything his charactor should be more lighter than Canon, But for some reason it's opposite, I've read fics where Naruto's charactor is completely different to that in Canon, but the author has done a very good job in explaining the change in charactor, I remember one fic where Naruto is stir crazy even more than Gaara, and I loved that fic because his history was explained, you understood why the charactor was like that.

Dark tones are all fine and dandy IF it makes sense, and this fic has failed badly. The third choosing Anko also doesn't make sense when couple of chapters before he told Naruto not to use the technique unless it's the very last resort, Yet he does a full 180 and chooses Anko to pretty much make him into a cold blooded killer.

There was a moment where Third mentioned that Naruto needs a sensei who can prepare him for the consequenses of using that technique...

About the bunnies they were made to kill, I remember a mention of (don't know for sure if it was in some ff, history lesson or some novel) a coming of age rite for warriors, where younglings were made to kill the pets they had had for years...

Thats exactly my point about his characterization of Anko as well. She is not the type of character who would blindly follow orders. especially after what happend with orochimaru.

and yet in the story she beats them over the head with the you must always follow orders, and it is simply not something you see in the naruto world and themes.

that what I meant by there are multiple ways the author could have handled that scene far better then he did. All of which would have gained the same effect and lesson learned while still retaining the character and taste of the narutoverse and characters.

instead sadly he just went for shock value it seems, and the story went down the drain.

Also i agree with harry about Anko. while normally I love Anko as Narutos sensei stories ((there loads of fun)) this one pushes the bounds of believeability by making Sarutobi give him such a hrd time about the technique then making Anko turn him into someone who would use that technique in a heart beat

As a side note Konohas golden viper this is a fiction I like, where Naruto is raised by Anko as her son. He is still ruthless and very dangerous but in the end he is still recognizable as Naruto Uzumaki we all know and love, Sakura is his girlfriend as well, and she is a prankster extraordinaire along with Naruto.

But she is not a naruto fangirl and is still recognizable. the author is able to convey the dangerous more sadistic naruto without delving into the darker visceral actions like slaughtering small animals etc, and retian the flavor of the naruto world in the process.

I read the golden viper story it's awesome I love it I give it a big thumbs up of full approval any Naru/Saku fans will love the story.

I was just going to post on here tonight! Thanks so much for mentioning my story, AchikaMiyu!!!! I'm really glad you like it!

A little more about Katsuro (hint: he's not an OC!) --Click here to view--

So... here's the thing, Katsuro is in fact Naruto. I've put in some markers for his identity that correspond to the manga. In the first chapter, I had a scene of him plucking a leaf off the tree, then tearing the leaf in two before he heads to ambush her. Chapter two was more about setting the stage, bringing in Itachi to the picture, and letting Sakura (and the reader) get a clearer picture of where she is. Chapter 3 ends down, but in it Katsuro identifies something in her that he has in himself, just like in the beginning of the manga, and he chooses her over his group. Sakura also has to be separated from her group in order to turn to him for a bond. So they'll bond more in the chapters to come.

It's not so much of a secret, but I don't want to bang anyone over the head with it. I think I might put a little page up at deviant with some of my notes for each chapter. I've been trying to build in clues and character nuances, layering it so that 15 chapters from now a little funny thing a character does will be revealed as having a more sinister or more positive spin. I was going to wait till later to put something up, but a few people have asked so I might put something up sooner.

Also, I'm trying to post every week, shooting for Friday. Basically it's a slow burn Naru/Saku love story.

I hope the info above cleared a few things up, Achika, and I hope you keep reading!

Nothing wrong with a slow and steady story. Build-up is what makes the climax that much more enjoyable Enjoying everything so far. Looking forward to the new chapters.

Oh my god... I just read the first two chapters and my heart ripped in two... I can't read anymore... It's a good story but way too freakin' sad for my taste :,(

To me, the problem with The Flashing Dagger Technique isn't that it's OOC. If you change up a few things early on, it's easy to see how the characters would develop differently.

It's why it's OOC.

Anko's test is in keeping with the philosophy that ninjas are tools - and from her standpoint, it's a good idea to do it early and brainwash the kids. Kakashi didn't shove that lesson into his students' face and Naruto decided that he was going to change that around.

The other half of it is Naruto's dream. He's desperate to get acknowledgment, but in this story, he had it before the story even began. In canon, he may have played with Chouji, Shikamaru and Kiba, but they weren't all that close judging from how they acted around each other in the chuunin exam. Here, he already has a close friend - and even better, it's Sakura. (Which brings up an interesting point since he initially liked Sakura because he saw that she was striving for acknowledgment and now that's muted for both of them.)

And Sarutobi is acknowledging him - even giving him a special scroll. Compare that to how he got his signature technique and gain acknowledgment from Iruka.

Right off the bat, Anko told Naruto that she believed that he had a chance to fulfill his dream. Kakashi didn't dismiss it immediately, but he wasn't that supportive of it either. Kakashi helped make him tough, but Anko wants to give him an edge instead.
