Take it easy calling them immature is considered slight bashing. Be careful to everyone to what you say remember this is the debate thread of NS not the debate about opposing fandoms. I really want to prevent the mods coming here and start giving warnings, let's stay on topic please. smile.gif

Yeah sorry, just venting a little steam that's all

The problem with the movie is that for sure is going to get translated by biased people and you'll never know the true meaning of the sentences.

Won't that kind of suck they translate the ending to "Naruto, we just gone for a long time."

It depends on who makes the subs. If it's DB subs (the first Naruto subbers), it'll probably be accurate. I hear that DB subs still work on the Naruto movies even though they don't work on the anime anymore.

When they subbed Yamato's sentence they added a "l-" at the end of the sentence to imply he was gonna say love. In the original content I think he just says "Sakura, in reality you...", but it ends there. The DB people seemed to be convinced the following word was love so they added the "l-" for the sake of more suspense and made "Sakura, in reality you really l-".

Oh yeah, I remember that. But yeah, I just want the translation just right. No downplay, no overplay. Funny, I can't believe Sakura actually said, "That's my Naruto" in the 3rd movie.

I'm not sure you guys and of course girls know this but the Dattebayo group is still alive and kicking. They call themselves Taka now here is their website. They admitted a year ago or two that they are indeed the old Dattebayo.

Which I've told you - time and time again - is dangerous! There will never be consensus, son, among those you have helped to ascend. They will all differ in their views of what it means to be free. The peace you so desperately seek does not exist.

These men are united now by a common cause. But when this battle is finished they will fall to fighting amongst themselves about how best to ensure control. In time it will lead to war. You will see.

Wasnt because their budget comes from donations and the fandom demanded them to continue but didnt support them with donations and the fact that other websites were downloading their episodes and uploading to other hosts like Megaupload without putting the credits or giving something to them in return?

(It could have happened any other time, but I think that moment was 'too high' and Kishi will have a hard time making NS moments afterwards shine brighter. He can do it, but still)

I still find an extreme double standard with this.

If this moment is considered so great and "hard to top" as people claim, then how can NH even top it to make NH canon itself? If this scene happened and NH isn't canon because of it, then NH truly is dead. Again, if this moment is "too high" and it is such a hard scene to top for any pairing, then NH is dead. If Naruto isn't in love with Hinata now, then he never will be.

We also cant say "no NS scene can top it" because well, we haven't gotten ALL NS scenes. From what I have seen in past experiences, we have done this before and yet we still find NS scenes to be better even when they seemed like the NH scenes were better. Remember the confessions? I can safely say that most think that Sakura's confession was better simply because Sakura wasn't selfish. Is this because of bias or what it actually is? That's hard to say. I could say as well that it is because of our bias for NS that we see chapter 615 is this "too high" of scene.

So, We wait and see.

I find the biggest difference between fandoms and neutrality is our expectations.

For NS fans:
We expect Sakura to be the heroine
We expect Naruto to one day talk to Sakura.

For NH fans:
They expect Hinata to take center stage
They expect Naruto to love her.

For SS:
They expect Sakura to retain feelings for him.

Neutral people just focus on expecting what they feel is important to the plot. Nothing paring related. They expect the story to flow. They expect the story to have a good ending. They expect Naruto to win and depending on what happens, they might expect some interaction between Minato and Naruto or something of that sort.

I always says I am two different type of fan. I am a NS fan sure, but I am a Naruto fan first. I will always put the story itself before my pairing simply because if the story is crap, what's the point?

True.

It's like I said about moments. People have their shipping goggles on and make the scene 100x greater. I always read it as a neutral fan. That's why you don't hear me saying it's game over or anything like that. When I read 615, I didn't feel like it's NH being canon, rather a comradely and Hinata development. It was more clear when the next chapter appeared. Sadly, fans can't pass this yet. Either way, I am still waiting for the end of the arc to make a final judgement.

One thing people really forget is that the battle is still going on. If the battle ended and NH only got their moments, then I can understand better, but it's not over. They are going through a boss fight and Sakura is still in pending of shining moment. This can be a deal breaker. Plus, you should know this already, NS moment usually much more crucial because how Kishi plays it off. The hug closed the arc and got the momentum that the confession once had. Heck, Naruto didn't go back to Hinata. Harsh, but truth. I can say it's relax and just read it as a normal fan. Besides, if you do this way, you'll still see NS being the endgame. Why else I will be defending this pairing yet feeling neutral at the same time. Remember, even the top comment suggested the same. We are not alone.

Indeed.

I never saw 615 as a NH moment myself, but a rather forced Hinata moment that came out of nowhere and faded as quickly as it came.

I am also the kind of guy that is not expecting anything from Sakura until the Naruto vs Sasuke fight. Sounds shallow, but I do have a reason. I want her to have an impact to the story, not just a shallow fanservice scene. I know we all want more, but the best scenes are the ones that have merit. Not ones that are gone with a blastwave.

The NS scenes are just so much more memorable. At least, in my mind. I can't even remember half the NH scenes, if they even exist at all.

It is like this movie. Road to Ninja shows all this NH and SS stuff that seem like "Wow, so this is it," but it is all smoke and mirrors. If what I am reading is correct, the movie itself ends on NaruSaku. Maybe not happily ever after or some marriage, but it ends with them being together. It ends with them smiling at each other.

This is basically the manga in a nutshell. Even if you have all these NH and SS moments, Naruto and Sakura are the ones in the end standing together and smiling at each other.

@James - It's as you said, we may get potential NH/SS implications, but when the dust settles we find it is NS that is still standing steady; of the so called 'Big 3' pairings it is the one with the strongest foundations character-wise. I've noticed this pattern as well; we get the odd NH/SS hint/interaction thrown our way, but coupled with these are NS moments not long after that overshadow the formers.

Your point on being a fan of the Naruto series first and foremost is a good one; you may only be interested in the romance side, but any romantic subplot is dependent upon the strength of the overall plot. If that plot aspect is as ingrained into the story as it is here, and the story as a whole is crap....

Well, it doesn't look good, does it?

This.

That's the best way to sum it all up: manga in a nutshell. NaruSaku got the last laugh and the reason for the beginning to happened that way is to show the foundation of their relationship. That moment is like how you see in many movies: they argued and you know that they will get together in the end. But since this is based on a manga, which is not done, you can reveal the ending of NS, so the next best thing is the date part.

I'll be honest, I'm with you about memorable moments. I know there are for others, but they're not that many and the way how Kishi done it is less impact. It's about the buildup and how much meaning those panels have. Look at PotL chapter, it was drawn well, took so much panel space, and they were in the mode where every surroundings disappears and only them and leaves flys. That demonstrate the impact of that scene. Actually, the funny thing is that it actually happened in Yamato's sentence. When he was about to finish, Sakura was in that mode. That's right, no background, just her and leaves. It was going to be very impact but yeah, it's interrupted. Interesting.

Again, we will go through fan service stuff, but in the end, it's NS that will stand and you know what, that's not fan service, it's the story flow.

Thank you.

Funny enough, 615 and how the fans reacted really woke me up about this. The amount of crap that got spewed really showed which fans read the series for the series itself or just for pairing wars.
