My theory is that Sasaki is still Kaneki and that he's just suffering from multiple personality disorder. 

 

In other words, there is no Sasaki. Just Kaneki. He created a fake persona and locked away his memories because they were too much to bare. This happens quite often in the real world, especially if something traumatizing happened with developing children.

 

This is another good way to view their situation too

Shirazu is having a nightmare, probably. His father is hanging by his neck (probably, suicide..?). His father is saying things like “I’m sorry, I’m sorry…” and “Die… please die.” (to Shirazu) In the dream, suddenly bloody Nutcracker appears: “Beautiful… I want to become beautiful.” Shirazu seems traumatized.

It seems there’s a meeting concering case Roze at CCG HQ. Haise, having noticed Shirazu’s bad state (I guess), hands him a bottle of coke.

Haise: “…. Quinque. There’s quite a lot of people who feel bad because of them.”

It seems Shirazu (and Saiko?) is a bit irritated because no one notices him or because Urie and Mucchan are already talking about the case between themselves?

Shirazu: “… I’m the squad leader though?!”

Saiko: “I’m Kobayashi though?!”

I think Saiko is teasing Shirazu here, immitating him lol.

Shirazu comments on how scary Kijima’s face looks.

Shirazu: “That’s scary… His ears and nose…”

Hirako squad arrives. Seems Kuramoto is leading them for today.

Haise?: “Ah… what about Hirako-san?”

Kuramoto: “..Kinda got some personal things to do and…”

Mutsuki gets support / congratulations / awe from the other member of Hirako squad (these people belittled him / Qs in the first chapter of TG:re)

Ui appears, he seems to be the leader of S1. Fura Taishi and a young girl are with him. Kijima’s partner comments that that’s the hope of Arima Squad.

The young girl talks to Haise and co. Shirazu is of course, awkward and blushing.

Mutsuki: “Shirazu-kun, aren’t you blushing?”

Shirazu: “I’– I"M NOT!!”

Saiko calls him a pervert, lol.

The girl introduces herself as Ui’s partner. She’s 20, the same age as Qs.

Shirazu and Haise pick up Shirazu’s new quinque made from Nuts. It should be fairly amazing, it’s a chimera.

Kanae: “If there’s no Shuu-sama, there’s no meaning to it!”

Hori: “Yeah. Tsukiyama-kun’s house may disappear. Kanae-kun, would you be able to abandon the house for Tsukiyama-kun’s sake?”

 

The Quinx are walking along the hallway.

Shirazu: Even though it was a sound plan…

At that moment, they were approached by a woman from behind.

Lady: Um… You’re all from the Qs right…?

Suddenly, Shirazu gets all nervous.

Shirazu: Y-yeah that’s right. What’s wrong?
Mutsuki: Shirazu-kun, you seem nervous.
Shirazu: A-am not ya idiot!
Saiko: Hey Squad Leader of Lewd. (she said ‘ero’)

Hairu: Um, I am Koo– I mean, Special Class Ui’s partner. My name is Ihei Hairu. Everyone here is 20 years old right?
Mutsuki: Yes, turning 21 this year.
Hairu: Actually, I’m also the same age so…

Shirazu: Oooh, you’re young and yet you’re being paired with a Special Class! That’s awesome!

Interesting but it looks like it's just another chapter of downtime, if I had to guess, out of all of the Q's, I'd say Shirazu is going to receive quite a bit of side focus on this upcoming arc

He's the only guy in a way of not knowing his background. Mutsuki supposedly killed his parents and change gender, Urie's father died while no one cares like he's just a pawn which upset him because it's all about who is more known (aka promotion), and Saiko, well she's just lazy, though her mother did leave her husband and what not.

Friendly reminder of Saiko's brother who has yet to make an entrance in this series But I'll agree: I hope the manga will represent her in a more serious light in the future.

I think the fact her kagune was blanked out and considered dangerous is saying something. It's like why can't we see it. It's all part of the plan. Ishida-sensei I trust.

Ugh, it’s really frustrating to me when I constantly have to look up who the various CCG investigators are (their names are rather long sometimes). No matter wherever or not we care about them though, the increasing importance some of these characters get, may it be the once we’re sort of familiar with from TG or the fairly new introduced ones in :re, will guarantee some interesting conflicts along down the road.

So Shirazu suffers from something like PTSD, huh? Nutcracker really has shaken him up. First that nightmare about his father hanging himself, and then the new quinque made out of Nutcracker’s Kagune. He will eventually have to open up to someone and talk about his trauma. I’m interested to see what that chimera quinque has in store though

Androgynous-looking like special class investigator Kooru Ui is back, and he’s now the leader of Division I Btw guys, do you recognize Taishi Fura? He’s the other main character from the spinoff Tokyo Ghoul Jack (he kind of looks superbored now nowadays).

Last week we got Kijima, and now we get Hairu Ihe. Quite a talented lady for her age. She seems to be interested in Sasaki b/c she was observing/staring at him during the meeting. Btw, guys, did you notice how she said: “Umm… I’m… Koo… No… I’m special class Ui’s partner, Hairu Ihe.” She might just be really close to him, but it can be something completely else, too.

Matsuri Washuu planning something b/c he’s unsatisfied with the board director aka his father Yokittenoki Washuu. Family drama in the Washuu clan coming up one day.

It’s nice to see how the Q’s are starting to get respected as of more lately. Mutsuki gets praised, and Hayashimura, the dude who fought alongside Shirazu and Saiko against Nutcracker, handed the rights over of the Quinque to Shirazu.

And yay, Chie Hori is back, and trying to comfort a crying Kanae. Nice artwork on that one page with him towards the end.

Well Youtube doesn't work on my end for some reason it's been happening since last night so I'm just going to say this before I talk about the latest chapter. 31.5 was pretty interesting seeing everyone together for christmas from Sasaki's squad and Akira and Arima show up, and seeing Touka again breifly made me go "Ishida you jerk stop with the teasing" hopefully things work out to where we'll see Touka get some action, and seeing Kaneki's mask at the end was interesting to. 32 and 33 were interesting considering that it was sometime after Auction Raid with Hinami being in prison although in reality it's Sasaki protecting her and seeing that inner struggle of him being an investigator, but feeling that he needs to help her just made me feel for him alot more than I already have. Of course theres a huge foreshadowing as to what side Sasaki will have to choose once Hinami gets out of Sasaki's custody and that has me worried for sure. 

 

 

Now with this latest chapter I don't know exactly how I feel. It was interesting seeing the conversation between Sasaki and the new investigator (forgot his name) and kinda seeing his take on the situation. Plus if there's one thing I noticed it was that this arc most likely is going to have Tsukiyama return to picture somehow I just have this gut feeling that's where Ishida is going to take this next arc, and honestly I quite excited.

Slow but pretty good. Buildup chapter as always and just feel like GoT where you go different places for more focuses and developments, whether you're following a villain or not.
