Exactly. She commented on Sasuke and remembers him being a playboy. As for Naruto/Menma, she didn't recall, rather the beast names from her world. AU! Sakura didn't appear in the movie, I wonder why. But it's like you said, if we know that they're a couple, then it's too early and game over. It's like in a show where the AU! Characters showed up and the normal characters asked their AU! if they're planning to date, only to tell them that they're engaged.
I swear, the bolded reminded me so much of that parallel universe episode in Futurama. Normal Fry asks Normal Leela out frequently, only to get rejected everytime. Then they meet their AU! versions who were actually married to each other. Because of one flip of a coin, AU! Leela accepted the date and gave him a chance, while Normal Leela rejected that date because she got "tails". I still remember their wtf reactions when they found out, it was priceless. The irony of that episode was unbelievable, especially since she rejected him earlier that very day.
I always thought that would be a possible scenerio for the NS relationship. It would work in a sense, given how Sakura's unsure of being in a relationship with him and whether or not she loves him, while Naruto is used to be rejected an actual chance or at least
thinks he would in a serious light. My shipper side would
love to see their reactions of their AU! selfs together and they merely aren't yet because of bad luck. Just imagining the awkwardness and questions.
It'd really clearly portray the "so close yet so far" theme of the NS relationship and the limbo they're in. I know Kishimoto would never do that, but it's nice to think about.
About Sakura not remembering Menma signifying distance, I actually think the opposite. AU! Sakura's memory was fuzzy about many things at first, she knew something was wrong with the K11 but not what exactly. Not until later did her memory fully come back. What I noticed was that she at least remembered his name almost and Menma is a different name from Naruto. So I thought that might mean
something, she probably was close to him. Let's not ignore the fact Team 8 immediately assumed they were dating. Why would they do that if AU! Sakura wasn't close to him?
My opinion on the AU world is though the characters drastically change, their feelings for other people stay the same. AU! Hinata still loves Naruto instead of hating him, she's just more aggressive and possessive. AU! Sasuke still held no serious feelings for Sakura or
any girl, he just cares about looks and being a player. AU! Naruto probably held serious feelings for Sakura if Kushina's comment and Hinata's insane jealousy is anything to go by, though its execution compared to the actual Naruto is unknown. And I have reason to believe AU! Sakura might have been attracted and crushed on Sasuke's hotness like Part 1 Sakura but eventually backed off and grew out of it when she realized he was a player. Something Normal Sakura never did, because her Sasuke was indifferent and mysterious, which made her think she had a more fair chance ("He's only hiding how he feels! I'm sure I can get him to open up to me!"- Part 1 Sakura in a nutshell). And AU! Sakura probably has feelings for Menma too, Hinata's strong jealousy hinted that. Noted, these two are only theories but given the consistent pattern with the ones who were revealed, I feel it has strong backing.
I really do seriously wonder if Kishimoto was trying to tell everyone something with those third party NaruSaku teases, along with the other examples of direct NS interaction (physical closeness, selfless behavior, excetra). NaruSaku being mutal was more obvious than it ever has been is such a short timescape. He didn't
have to do all of this, yet he did.
