So is anyone else refraining from being too confident NaruSaku will happen in 699-700? I've tried to stick to speculation about pairings on other forums I visit to avoid having to eat crow.

Most people are refraining from being too confient I think. It's a pretty a normal attitude to not get your hopes to high to avoid disappointment. But that doesn't stop people like me to believe it'll definitily happen.

 

 

Me. Not because I don't think it'll happen, but I want to avoid getting on the hype train and be mellow when reading the chapters next week. At least then if something big does happen, it'll be that much better to read it.

Oh...   I thought you were one of the few that were with me on the hype train...

I find it difficult to swallow that two of Sasuke's tagalongs would just so happen to be in possession of what's considered to be the holy grail for all medical specialists. If Hashirama's Sage Mode, a transformation that's popular for its auto-restoration and was compared to the Byakugou as a reference point, couldn't sprout a new limb then how would or why should these two nonentities be given such a powerful ability? Closing a ravaged chest cavity is impressive, but it's not a gamebreaker. The Mystical Palm technique has been been proven to be capable of healing internal damage caused to the heart, as well as reseal pierced holes in the body. Karin's restorative technique might be above this, but she can't use it indefinitely and it doesn't have the same possibilities as Byakugou.

If NaruSaku does become canon though, it will be very, very gratifying. I'm trying not to call it now lest it doesn't happen, which I don't think will happen, but can't be too careful.

IMO you don't understand well the story. I have to go to sleep so... maybe someone else can explain to you that Naruto can't regenerate things since he lost that sun mark in his hand.

And now here we see Naruto use the powers he gained from the Sage in Battle.

 

I've bloody hell read the chapters multiple times today to try and find out where it says the Sage only gave them the powers temporarily, it's only mentioned he gave them the powers, there is no mention of taking the powers back. Your argument has not provided any proof, yet the manga has said it multiple times the power was given to them, and we've seen them use said power after the the seal disappeared. The seals on their arms served one purpose to seal Kaguya (or at the time the ten tails).

 

There is no mention of the regenerate ability being linked to the Seal, prove me wrong, show me where in the manga it says otherwise, and i'll be happy to admit i'm wrong, I would love to be wrong, that power is OP, I would love it if it was temporary but as of this moment I can't find any proof that the sun seal is linked to the regenerating ability.

Same. He's put Sakura through a lot worse than Karin's ever had to dealt with. Sakura & Kakashi both deserve a apology for all of his bs.

Well.  So the big Naruto v. Sasuke fight is over, and I have mixed feelings.

 

Based on the pacing we've seen lately, I figured the resolution would happen quickly.  I knew Naruto would win.  I figured Sasuke would have to admit that both he and his ideology were bested.  So in that sense I felt the chapter delivered.

 

I've also believed that Sasuke would have to be "good" again -- nice and more approachable -- in order for Sakura's choice of Naruto to be more believable and not a sacrifice.  So in that sense it also delivered.

 

Nevertheless, I was kind of... underwhelmed.  Sasuke's relatively sudden transformation isn't any more unrealistic than Nagato or Obito or even Zabuza.  It's the way Kishimoto resolves conflict.  And to be fair, Sasuke has been an emotional pinball bouncing all over the board in Part II, so it's not surprising that Naruto would be able to change Sasuke's mind again.  But it was just.... IDK.... flat?

 

I am very happy for Naruto.  Sasuke's reclamation has been so important to him for so long.  And of course, in terms of NS this had to happen.  

 

But I'm sorry, I don't like Sasuke any better than I did.  He makes Naruto look very good, though, a devoted and righteous hero who never gives up.

 

The train is barreling down the tracks.  Next stop: where heaven meets earth.  

 

 

P.S.  I love Kurama.

Something I'm a bit confused about. If Kurama gave Naruto the rest of his chakra, does that mean he's "dead"? Or at least that half of him, anyway?
