Reporter: You had some nice efforts from guys who weren't expected to put up big numbers. Brandon Marshall had a huge game, Cedric Benson turned into a stud flex, and Jason Witten looked like he sealed a comfortable lead heading into MNF.
Coach: Yes we are very happy with our guys who we got for a good price in the draft and expected to contribute to this team. I expected more out of Roddy White but apparently Matty "Ice" turned into a wet puddle in Chicago. Got to give credit to S-JAX for giving us what we expected with only 2 rushes...
Reporter: Playing that newly put together Houston Defense turned out to be a fantastic decision coach. They scored the most points for your entire lineup.
Coach: The Colts are nothing without Peyton Manning. There whole offense is based around him and his defense is built around having a lead. They may have better LUCK next year....
Reporter: Final thoughts coach?
Coach: Yes, yes....*bangs podium over and over again with fists before head butting it* I HATE YOU TOM BRADY. Why must you have a historic game when I'm playing you. You ruined a perfectly great game for the Thundercats!!!
Coach: OH BTW, we're looking for a top 10 defense. Don't know how much that costs, but contact if your interested.

Did I have a few too many Sam Adams when I made this? Probably.
Seriously though. After forcibly psyching myself to like my team, I realized after Week 1, I hated them and I still do. I wouldn't have taken Foster, Gore, or Greene and I wouldn't have waited until Round 4 to draft a QB. I also made personal errors in waiting to draft a backup until Round 14 and was left with Matt Ryan and not much else. I had high hopes, but after the debacle in Chicago, I have serious concerns about his consistency and with limited faith in Gore and Greene, I was in trouble even with a healthy Foster. If they didn't perform I'm not sure it would have mattered what Foster did, I was going to be a weaker team.
I needed a complimentary to Ryan badly for when he plays on Grass and on the road and not much was available and the only piece people seemed interested in was Foster. It's clear Ryan isn't a Brady or Rivers, so I don't think he's full time starter. If Dez Bryant lives up to expectations and Kolb is able to feast on 6 NFC West games, I'll be okay/ DeAngelo Williams...if I'm going to flame out, might as well do it while being a homer. Honestly, after week 1, I don't think he's any worse a bet than Greene.
Besides, if Foster's hammy lingers or worsens (like Moreno did for me last year) I'm finished anyway.
So, you know....what the hell. Maybe I can feel good handing the Commish a title or if it goes bad a gimpy hamstring like I had with Moreno.
At least this way, if I lose, I can have fun doing it. I'd have just been bitter otherwise.

Not-so-short version: The Commish takes on a lot of risk in shortening his bench with this trade. His starting lineup is easily the class of the league now, but if any of them suffers an injury the hole may not be so easy to fill. Props for making a bold move; this should easily get him into the playoffs if everyone stays healthy.
On Nate's side, I totally understand his reasons for making the trade, and I think he got good value. While I normally don't like being on the 'X' side of an X-for-1 trade, he still gets to field a good lineup while upgrading his WR corps. (I feel the best piece he got back is Dez Bryant.) His RB corps took a hit obviously, but Greene and Gore still have time to prove themselves and DeAngelo isn't the worst flex play ever.
EDUT: And Nate gets to have some fun. That's the most important thing.

Yeah, I was so mad after week one because I felt the autopicker put me in that position to begin with. My biggest mistake was not reordering preferences. I didn't think it'd be an issue. Won't screw that up again. And to clarify, I don't hate my current team, I meant I hated them pre-trade. This feels more like my team, win or lose, so I'm happy even if it doesn't work out for me.
Bryant was why I was willing to part with Foster. Kolb was the primary target overall, but Bryant made me pull the trigger.
I don't know about the commish, but I feel I got fair value. Reports are that Foster is go, so I feel sorry for his opponent.

This was pretty much my thoughts as well. I really hate giving up Dez Bryant..., but with Fitzgerald and Jennings and Burress on the side. He became a luxury.
I don't personally like Kevin Kolb very much. That wasn't too hard to do, but there is always the off chance he turns into one of the top quarterbacks in the league, especially in this season with the lockout affecting defenses across the league and 6 games against the NFC West. He could be due for a great season. I am a believer in Cam Newton. I think his dynamic play will continue. At least I hope so anyway.
Running back was the one glaring weakness on my team and I always try to see if I can get a top player. Its a hard bargain to make, but to succeed you have to take chances. In the draft, in the waiver wire, and even with trades. Now the glaring hole is depth at about every position. Going to have to make waiver wire moves and hope starters get injured. Well not any of MY starters.
Short story:I want to win it all, I'm making a gamble to help get me there, even while being fully aware of the potential failure.
PS: I am willing to trade one of my starting WRs, PM me if interested and we will talk from there.
I gave more than what I would have liked for just one guy. But hes one of the few guys worth it. He seems healthy, and hes up against a suspect Miami defense so hopefully he has a glorious return. I feel way better having done the trade, rather then not doing it.

Jwolf's Wildly Inaccurate Week 2 Predictions!
Kicked in the Vick (Mik3) vs. Gama Warriors (Nee-sama)
-Kicked in the Vick favored by ~20
Yeah, the Commish's lineup looks stacked. Arian Foster playing in a late game doesn't do Mik3 any favors, but a superior WR corps and the Pittsburgh D going up against the papier mache O-line that is Seattle (

The Golden Thumbs (Rick) vs. Reavers! (Insurrection)
-The Golden Thumbs favored by ~2
Close. So close. I was tempted at first to dismiss Stafford's projection of 25 as way too high. But after thinking about it, he had a hell of a game in Week 1 and the Chiefs defense got shredded. Now they've lost Eric Berry for the year? Yeah, I think Matt can do it again. If Insurrection can pull off the mild upset, look for Mmiles Austin to lead the way there.
Leatherbacks (Nick Soapdish) vs. All We Do Is Lose (Illmatic)
-Leatherbacks favored by... you're just leaving your kicker out to mess with the spread, aren't you Illmatic? Assuming 7 for the kicker (because meh kicker whatevs), favored by ~7
I like both Megatron and Mike Wallace here. Brady vs. Rodgers. The universe may explode if they decided to dual Falcon Punch each other, so I guess we'll just settle for 900 combined yards and 8 TDs or something. That's a push. However I'm picking the upset, going with the other Peyton (Hillis) against a traditionally soft Colts run D, and the belief that Steve Smith will catch a TD because Cam will have to throw about 42 times. You better remember to put that kicker in though.
Sam Adams Patriots (Nate River) vs. Ellicott Thundercats (True)
-Ellicott Thundercats favored by ~4
Whoa. This is closer than I thought it would be. You have to think CHRISJOHNSON gets more carries this week, although the Baltimore D isn't the best unit to run on. (Passing on them apparently isn't so hot either) I actually think Shriner has a good chance here, but I said I didn't think I'd pick him, and I still won't this week. Go go Cedric Benson, eh True?
Fun irrelevant fact: I shiver whenever I utter any faith or hope in Cedric Benson doing well. It's an ingrained reflex, much like the Hyenas and Mufasa's name in "The Lion King."
Zatties! (Zatren6) vs. Tokyo Raiders (roninmedia)
-Zatties! favored by ~9
Oh, those WR projections for Da Raiduhz. In an anticipated high-scoring matchup like this one, losing Colston hurts badly. This might turn into a Nee-sama special, where a team is one of the highest scoring in the league yet starts 0-2. But at least she's made the playoffs when she's done that so it wouldn't be the end of the world. The points look solid up and down the board, but man, those WRs.
Sparky McRandomsons (Jwolf0) vs. The Wulfpack (Burning_Wulf)
-Sparky McRandomsons favored by ~16
Rashard Mendenhall should get back on track against a meh Seattle Defense (but not bad! just meh. sigh.) I hope that Best plays well and that I don't regret benching Tolbert again. Burning_Wulf can count on Rivers to give him a good game, but will Welker step up again? Joseph Addai is good, but how often will he have a chance to run if Indy falls behind?
Week 1 results: 3-3
Overall pick record: 3-3
Kick to the Groin 'Winners':

Bad news for the Chiefs got worse. Jamaal Charles carted off Ford Field with a knee injury.
Ben Roethlisberger limps off the field after being hit below the belt. Tom Brady rule in effect.
UPDATE: He's Back After Halftime and continues to pummel Seattle.
Bears First Rounder Gabe Carimi gone to knee injury, Cutler gets sacked big, fumbles.
The Jags cut Garrard and decide to go with Thad McCown, v the Jets he was pulled after 4 picks
Chiefs were fed another 40 burger by Detriot.

I had to finish moving today and didn't get to check on the Dez Bryant report until right now, so I'm stuck starting him. Totally blows, because this looked totally winnable if I started Santana Moss.
Unless, Team True sucks today, I'm probably going to lose. Oh well.

Just as you say that Jordy Nelson scores a 84 yard TD.

STEVE SMITH SIGHTING!! Caught a deflected ball.
I don't believe this, but somehow I knew should've picked Atlanta's D, Michael Vick is having a bad night. I mean, BAD night. Why Reid never challenged that INT that hit the ground first I'll never know. Because I don't follow the Eagles.
Also DeSean Jackson is hurt now, Maclin steps up. More points for me! Now that deficit cause by Vick should help Mik3 catch up.
